  1. in the past there were definitely terminal interlines with the 8 & 9 at Jamaica terminal when it ran out of JFK. the interlines that currently occur on the 41 are from the JFK Q6/7/8/9 school trippers iinm
  2. Q41 used to be based out of JFK. it's definitely based out of Far Rock. it got sent there when the 52 became sbs and was sent to JFK.
  3. if it shows up on any of the FR routes, then it can be posted in the random section, providing the bus number, run number and route. the reason why people don't post transfers between FR and JFK (regardless of how noteworthy it is) is because they're rather frequent. and even then, it's not verified if it will run in revenue service.
  4. I thought it was established that posting "transfers" between JFK & Far Rock wasn't necessary since they are under one management (AGM, etc)
  5. they leased a plot of land for 15 years, with no plans whatsoever to build anywhere on the island in the meantime, and no contingency plan(s) going forward. so what exactly was the point of having a Meredith "Depot" in the first place? is it a case of they just don't need a 4th depot or annex on staten island anymore or was this another case of wasted time/money with the "powers that be" sitting around circle-jerking with their thumbs up their collective asses? I'm seriously asking... no sarcasm.
  6. 7 buses with no reimbursement fee for approximately 3+ years of service (which will more than likely be more than 3, depending on the depot & runs they run on) p.s. they previously ran in Vermont of all places. there's no way they're beat to shit. sounds like perfection to me.
  7. it was definitely an OA thing before the creation of MTA Bus.. and it was definitely utilized thru Local 100 before the consolidation, specifically with wildcat runs & lines with split runs iinm. these days I've only seen x-runs as extras from Manhattanville (specifically on the M98) aside from that, these days it's hella rare. i can't find anyone to explain why the B35 short sign is displayed in this fashion these days. i absolutely hate it, and i don't understand (letalone care) why it was changed. this is why they're ass backwards.. after an eternity of the B6 sign displaying Bensonhurst ÷ Harway Av, they change it to 25 Av - Cropsey, meanwhile, McDonald Avenue or Av? too confusing/too much going on.. let's shorten it 🤦🏾‍♂️
  8. the b/o could've been going on swing (performing a pull-in) been assigned a deadhead or been instructed by console to run light due to lateness. there are MANY reasons why a b/o leaves a terminal without servicing the stand. just because a bus arrives at a terminal, doesn't necessarily mean it's truly assigned to be the next bus to depart from said terminal. ask any b/o. these things do happen, especially during middays. I sincerely hope people on this forum understand that our full paddle reports are NOT displayed online via apps/websites like TransSee for a damn good reason. TransSee (for example) doesn't display pull outs & pull ins... and they shouldn't.
  9. not really. x is not used with run numbers internally (at least on paddles) x is usually used as a placeholder. for example, if a b/o has run number 021, some operators will display it as x21, 2x1 or 21x. in this case, it's used as a placeholder for zero, for any assortment of reasons, especially when it pertains to the manual run boxes. sometimes, when hitting potholes, the run box's numbers will slip, from zero to x or from 5 down to 4, etc.
  10. yes, and since there are more people who have jobs that start at 4am/5am, those hourly overnight routes that currently exist aren't doing them any good
  11. having glanced the documents, i will say the Q11/21 combo is a rather pleasing development. having overnight service end at 157 & Cross Bay as opposed to Pitkin makes alot more sense. the Old Howard Beach/Hamilton Beach combination (serving both branches simultaneously) seems like something they should've been doing going back to the GBL days (much like this routing in general, if I'm being real) 😂🤣 i see they backed away everso gingerly from a few stupid combos (Q10/64 and Q1/6) ok! they kept the Q41 intact (kinda). i would love to see the service hours expand, especially with the lakewood avenue routing, but i guess you can't have it all. sending 112's to euclid 🤔 I've seen that idea on this forum in days gone by. well damn! they ended the Q44 to Fordham foolishness! 114's ridership demand via redfern projects (and Lawrence, LI) is so robust to bring an end to the Q113? damn.
  12. "management"... meaning whom exactly? what do they consider "management" ? the AGM? GS of transportation? GS of maintenance? because with all due respect, i don't think any respectable GS or AGM is passing along info to self proclaimed foamers/fan boys. just my opinion.
  13. i was thinking the same thing. i figured it was unofficial, i just wanted a link to a clearer image to assess. i don't know why, but i believe they're not even close to an official "final" draft, and that release date will be pushed back further.
  14. they really have no choice but to keep JA active. even if BP or JFK weren't in Bus Co./different union locals, i can't imagine them being able to help much capacity wise.
  15. not necessarily. for those contracts, those companies and bus operators would more than likely be solely (or primarily) focused on providing those services. the issue with NYCTA/MaBSTOA/Bus Company is that operators have to be scraped together to provide those services as overtime, so it can be considered a very unreliable service model if I'm being honest. plus, as is stated in the documents, those companies are being contracted based on close proximity to the MNR lines that need coverage over the duration of the contract (60 months) clearly, they don't want to utilize NYCT equipment traveling those distances to provide those services anymore. plus, I'd find it very hard to believe that MNR customers will be content with riding on beat-to-s**t Orion 7 OG's/NG's.
  16. iinm transit has a lease agreement with York College for their unused lots to store buses. it's yet to be determined if Jamaica Depot will operate as is with the usage of those lots or if some lines will be temporarily displaced.
  17. I'm assuming it's for the same reason why the Q48, Q72 & M60 don't directly serve it.. no overall benefit
  18. in a word, yes. i definitely see how customers can view the fillmore short signs (and the 46sbs avenue N short signs) as a inconvenience/annoyance, but management only started utilizing the fillmore signs as a way to cut run times across the board. there are several relief runs that start at fillmore and quite frankly, having done several late(r) runs on the 46 LTD/lcl (in years past) it made absolutely no sense to bypass the depot, carry air into KP on a pull in trip and sit on the fuel line longer than necessary. even during some periods of the day, it makes absolutely no sense to run EVERY single trip to KP... especially now with artics clogging up space (as was mentioned beforehand)
  19. i can't lie, having gone to PS 135, Roy H. Mann & South Shore (and having family that currently lives in Glenwood) that area is TECHNICALLY the flatlands. however, most people in Glenwood (at least the older generations) will claim East Flatbush based on their own family connections and the street beefs that the 40's and 50's share against the 90's (and now the 80's) the newer generations try to tie themselves to Canarsie, but that's total bull IMO. as you know, the thing about these areas is that there isn't much of a drastic difference economically or culturally. we all went to the same schools (the multitude that exist in those areas) and we all have family that live in and around these areas. to this day, i have family (mother's & father's) that all live within relative walking distance from each other, from Troy & Foster, to Albany & Farragut, to 56th & H, ect. i have plenty of schoolmates & friends/family that can say the same thing, and we've all had these debates in school or on the block, regarding what constitutes as E. Flatbush or not. Joey Badass, the rapper/actor, claims E. Flatbush, even though he grew up on New York Avenue, which to some of us that doesn't count at all, but ultimately, it truly depends on who you ask. IMO the lines have always been blurred based upon what block you grew up on and what schools you went to, however I do have my own definition of what the borderlines are.
  20. growing up on east 49th & Tilden, we always looked at Remsen Village as a part of us (East Flatbush) based solely on shared schools/school zones (Meyer Levin, Tilden HS, etc) the closer you get to rockaway pky, they definitely viewed themselves as their own separate entity.
  21. well... there was a brief period that the B8 served both the Brooklyn Terminal Market and Brookdale. eventually what happened was that the Brooklyn Terminal Market branch became part-time service with most runs being sent to terminate at Brookdale until they finally eliminated the BTM branch. during this time, the 8 was running out of Ulmer Park. iinm by the time East NY had the B8 (albeit briefly) the BTM branch was gone.
  22. i know for a fact that several mechanics & chassis maintainers there have high seniority and imo aren't as "motivated" to perform... ask anyone who's worked in 100 st over the past decade or so and they more than likely will say the same. lowkey it's been that way going back to when d60HF's were dominant in that depot. even dealing with cleaners in that depot... same shit. there are quite a few dinosaurs in the aforementioned departments who are mentally already retired... just hanging out to get the best 3 salary years to put toward their pensions. and I'm speaking of current individuals who i can personally identify... that have history in Hudson Pier, Walnut & Amsterdam (mid to late 90's). i can't front, I'm patiently waiting for the day some new blood gets injected into that building.
  23. In my experience, a SLD will call and instruct you to make 34 street your last stop, but since there's no 34th code, they usually have you enter 42 street, then NEXT BUS PLEASE the rest of the way. what's crazy about 34th street is that the few time i was instructed to end there, i had to service the stop and use 24th street to head back uptown. very rare to be told to make the left off lex onto 34. however at 42nd, they'd allow it. go figure.
  24. having worked out of 100 street, the downtown m103 short signs are for cooper union, 24th street & 42nd street. iinm there is/was a short sign for Chinatown as well (I've never seen it on the road or used it personally) the downtown m101/102 short signs are 24th street, 42 street and 96. the uptown m101 shorts are 161 (there's no limited specific code, so limiteds use the local code while being required to announce it) 125-Amsterdam, 125th & 3rd, 116 street and of course 96 street. the uptown m102 has 125-Lenox, 116 & 3rd, and 96. to my recollection, the 103 only has 96 as a uptown short sign. there was a downtown 96 that they stopped using a while ago (at least to my knowledge). they just decided to make runs pull in from 125th and call it a day.
