  1. apparently, they've been updating the codes at a staggered pace. I'd like to believe by years end, all UP units will display 25 Av-Cropsey... which is what it should've displayed from the get-go back in the day (even in the Ulmer Park B8 days) they used to have nostrand av short-signs in the am as well. iinm, all they did was extend those former Nostrand trips to VA Hospital (along with the VA trips that were already in place)
  2. i personally think splitting the 60 as opposed to the B47, the 6 or even the 82 (to a lesser degree) is highly hypocritical and a slap in the face to anyone with intimate knowledge of these lines. the 60 should be WAY DOWN on the list of brooklyn lines that need to be broken up. this is yet another prime example of how out of touch transit is, and why people (workforce and customers alike) have no faith in this organization
  3. there's a severe bottleneck on Flatbush av. northbound from avenue p to the junction basically. to this day, those traffic signals aren't properly synced. ask any bus operator from Flatbush/Jackie Gleason/far rockaway depot(s) or anyone who drives/commutes that way after approx. 7am on a regular basis. so anyone looking to get from the kings plaza/mill basin/bergen beach area to the (or for that matter) would be wise to slide down avenue U via the B3
  4. 🤦🏾‍♂️ Q3 (walking transfer at Merrick Bl) and Q6 (Sutphin/Archer)
  5. 😂😂 i was literally sitting here reading an re-reading this post... damn near called people i know to figure out when did they start governing buses based on division 🤣. that's a new one, slick. nice try. only a few buses I've personally driven weren't governed at 40mph... a few Flatbush & Ulmer Park RTS's were good for that. ENY too, specifically some of the 9050's RTS's (that came from Jamaica) anyway, I firmly believe that'd be WAY too much work to re-govern buses every time they swap between divisions... alot of OT that transit is unwilling to pay to those mechanic brothers (and sisters iinm). i will say this... those 42xx-series NG's from Yukon definitely have some giddy up.. and i see quite a few old timers from JFK/Far Rock love picking them early in the day. I'd love to find out if they were altered in any way.
  6. dude, i kid you not, i was thinking the same blasted thing... sounds like something straight from the mind of a certain individual who shall forever remain nameless (fw) i will say that that farebeating has been a regular occurrence on the B60 going back to the 90's when east ny depot ran it.
  7. on top of that, nyc streets (that have bus lines) are barely built in a way to accommodate current artic services, not like say, Hamburg (Germany), Belgium or other European cities/countries that utilize this type of equipment. let me put it this way: ever notice how no north American cities utilize bi-articulated units? it's for a damn good reason. iinm Quebec City announced in 2019 that they'll implement them... in 2026 (maybe) let's not forget that union members like myself and the brother who commented before me will suffer from implementation of such equipment. there's no time in history (in exception of the Q44+ and maybe the B44+) that runs weren't lost when artics were implemented... so imagine bi-artics. it's not like bi-artics will be implemented on a run/bus for run/bus basis... that's foolish to think. kinda off the subject: in case people forgot, initially, they cut runs on the 'B' and 'Q' 44+'s when artics were implemented... which they eventually had to put back. and just to show I'm not a "hAtEr" with no rhyme or reason, according to DOB's safety division, the depots that are most prone to accidents are depots with artics (rear end impact collisions & rear right impact collisions)... regardless of the B/O's seniority or years of artic qualification. I've been artic qualified since 2010, and have been shifter qualified since 2017. they tell you repeatedly the dangers of operating such equipment, and the type of bs to look out for when operating said units to keep your ass out of trouble (or at least try to) shit, they barely house artics in certain depots as it is, do you really think bi-artics... nvr mind. bi-artics = horrible idea in nyc.
  8. there used to be a saying at Zerega with some of the training superintendents: "ALWAYS brush your teeth." (scan those mirrors)
  9. agreed. i can't argue that technology was/is going this way regardless, yet as you stated, with this job being what it is, "forgetting" if you have mirrors or monitors are crucial seconds you just wasted not being about your task and seeing what needs seeing. i have doubts with the 40-footers... MCI's/Prevosts tho? artics?? geezus, i ain't gonna front... i can't picture it. but, at some point, we'll have to adjust. the growing pains tho smhh
  10. I've heard that as well in regards to crime in general being associated with e-bikes & scooters. wait... didn't a repair shop for e-bikes just go up in flames recently? btw i just read that transit recently banned e-bikes/scooters from all depots. i don't know too many employees that use them tho.
  11. 🙄 this AGAIN? why? you brought this topic up in the random thoughts thread at the end of May, and people responded with EMPHATIC no's. so now that it's the end of june, this again?
  12. if you pull a rolling stop in front of a cop, chances are, they'll stop you and give you a warning. hell, years ago, the 69th precinct would pull up on b/o's out of east ny & UP to warn us that our supervision was looking to issue rolling stop violations at the corner of 105 & glenwood (when there was a stop sign). meanwhile, ZERO enforcement for bikes and scooters who perform rolling stops or simply blow thru them at top speed. spare me this "righteous" outrage against motorists in this city when there's a growing sub-culture that's completely un-policed and getting out of hand. not to say that reckless drivers shouldn't be deterred. I'm from east flatbush. i know what recklessness happens on the main roads (utica, kings highway, etc) and the side streets... speeding down one-ways, kids getting hit/killed in front of their family home... trust me i get it. but these motherless f**ks are no better. and what's sad is i have yet to hear responsible bike riders condemn them in public or on the news.
  13. this is something Zerega warns people about since forever. cover your right. however, if some jackass isn't following the rules of the road, how is that "preventable" on your behalf? majority of my encounters with bikes/scooters, whether I'm on duty or in my personal vehicle(s), are with reckless a**holes who blow stop signs & red lights. and most of those scooters are illegal as hell. no plates, helmets, whatever. I'm gonna keep it a buck: i don't report to the crew with malicious intent. my intentions are to make it home safely. last thing i want is an on-board or to take a life/take lives. with that being said, if someone blows thru a stop sign or red light on me and something unfortunate happens... oh well, it is what it is. things keep getting progressively worse with them specifically, and no one is enforcing them.
  14. never seen 79's take the upper lever either, however i assumed it could be done if necessary. the bunching on the 79 i have seen however. pm rush, staten island bound... at least when the 42xx NG's were out there, I'd see it happen rather often.
  15. I'm pretty certain that if the Queens bus lines that are housed by Brooklyn Division yards are in fact changed scheduling wise that those changes would fall in line with the rest of the lines housed by Queens Division (ATU1056) and Queens' Bus Company Depots. as was previously stated, a special system pick would be held (just like what occurred with us in MaBSTOA and the Bronx redesign (seeing as the M125 was added to 100 Street Depot) or implementation would be held off until the actual systemwide system (winter) pick depending on their timeline. they still have to present this "final draft" to all community boards involved and there's certainly no guarantees everyone will be satisfied. in my personal opinion (even with considering how system and non system picks have been screwed up/protested/stopped/redone over the years in TA Brooklyn and especially in MaBSTOA.. iykyk) the brooklyn and queens redesigns should be implemented simultaneously. i understand that's a huge ask, from management to the union reps and even to the riding public, but considering that there are potentially new Queens lines running into Brooklyn, Brooklyn lines potentially being extended further into Queens, why not just do everything one time instead of going thru this tedious process every couple months (or years depending on how things develop)
  16. I don't know if this has been addressed or brought up at any point (and i apologize for any redundancy) but can anyone from queens explain to me how the Q7 suffers from bunching during the midday hours? to provide a bit of context, i was driving across rockaway blvd and saw 2 Q7's basically back to back in both directions around Lefferts blvd around 1150-ish this morning. being that i used to live on lakewood avenue some years back and had to commute to lindenwood for work, i always assumed they (JFK Depot/JFK B/O's) had extremely tight paddles on that line. I'm honestly just wondering what's up.. is this a MTA Bus thing or was the 7 bad in the GBL days as well... enlighten me, please and thanks
  17. to get B/O's fully acclimated with the unit. part of the training on new units involves going about standard operating procedure(s), setting mirrors, test the wheelchair ramp, seat setup, brake checks, and some (not all) superintendents will have you enter info into the farebox as if you are beginning a revenue service day. as i previously stated, this isn't a new practice. more times than not, units that transfer between TA/OA & BC will have the appropriate farebox installed.
  18. well, they certainly weren't gonna keep a NYCTA farebox in a unit that's training BC B/O's on BP routes... that'd defeat the purpose. doesn't mean the unit won't eventually return to CS or wherever DOB sees fit tho
  19. that's a very interesting perspective. my only assumption is that all the sbs service quill provides is extremely taxing on their artics. if you mind being asked, what made you choose GH rather than stay at Quill?
  20. rest in peace to the woman who was struck and killed by a bus earlier today around Broadway & 13th street. i personally have no details. i heard it was a staten island MCI unit and that graphic images were posted on the citizens app (of which i have no desire to see)
  21. points were definitely made. I've been seeing a downward trend going back to them tinkering the speed limit and all the speed cameras popping up all over the place. I'm not advocating for anyone to be a hero out there these days, however i just can't help but notice certain oddities that are now commonplace. I'll put it this way: aside from 2 lane roads becoming bottlenecks, construction, etc. our union "situation" is not helping matters... morale is definitely at an all-time low.
  22. this "contract" is total garbage. management has their hands up this unions back. richie davis is no different than samuelsen and/or utano (no surprises there) no will absolutely be my vote.
  23. for whatever reason, this is very common on Saturday evenings/nights. idk why they don't do a better job of adjusting operators on the 47 during the day (which causes spillover into the evening hours) I'm almost certain that the SLD's at woodhull & kings plaza STILL don't/won't do anything for 47 operators which causes this... aside from the interlining grand avenue utilizes. but then again, the 47 suffered from lateness/bunching at flatbush depot years ago, so... 🤷🏾‍♂️
