The point of express buses is to get people far away from midtown into midtown quickly. Having it make so many stops on its way to midtown kind of kills the whole premise of an express bus. All the crosstowns to the FDR Drive around there would be hell, the henry hudson is often screwed over by GWB traffic, and the north/south corridors aren't so open either so the traffic of staying on local roads up that high would hurt the 2 even more.

The q44 gets pretty decent ysage on union street. It may not always be to the bronx but I notice plenty of people use it as the fastest way to go south. Whitestone needs a fast bus connection to the subway, it’s a well populated residential area without immediate access to a train so it’s only logical. perhaps in rush hours a handful of q44 trips could be added to bypass that section and run down the whitestone to linden place but ultimately no service should be cut from union street (or very little...).

Looks like the original SBS scheme will survive a little longer now that hale has (temporarily?) lost some of its XD60s. Unless of course the LaGuardia and JFK units get temporarily transferred to hale as those two depots receive 6200s

Yes, it’s registered with Quill. It could’ve been transferred between the depots sometime between the time the image was taken and the time i checked, or it could’ve been at Hale but still assigned to Quill. regardless, the priority seems to be diverting all XD60s into mike quill for the m14 sbs, so sending 6127 to hale wouldn’t make much sense in the end

Maybe for the coaches but at least for the locals, as long as the 40 foot hybrid and the MTAB Xcelsior top off order are the last non-all electric bus orders, it’s possible. It’s not like any of these recently purchased low floors will last 20 years and as long as zero emissions remains fashionable, funding should be streaming in to buy all electric buses to satisfy the environmentalists
