  1. How did we go from someone implying the bullet is superfluous to someone implying the text in the bullet is superfluous?
  2. And make it harder to clearly identify if the train is running local or express before it finishes pulling into a station?
  3. That's not even getting into the investment in third rail shoes for cars that won't be around for too much longer.
  4. You must be desperate. The toilet is the third door down the hall to your left.
  5. I don't know how you reached that conclusion, but you did. Regardless, this is definitely not the thread to continue this talk on.
  6. Is there a Chatham Square north of Wassaic that I'm unaware of?
  7. Even if the MTA did that, the route through the Financial District would hamstring throughput on Broadway. You could pull a Wallyhorse afterward, but the resulting route would still be subjected to conflicts with other trains -- especially the at Broad Street -- and a level of specialization that would render it effectively useless, much like the pre-2010 .
  8. If that's true (which is certainly a good possibility, though I'm only saying this because I can neither confirm nor deny the truth of the claim), then that explains a lot.
  9. At a station that you'd either need to ride through or go through third parties just to know it exists? Let's not forget that the trains themselves aren't designed to properly accommodate standees.
  10. Whenever Lincoln has parts available to ship to Yonkers for assembly. The fabs are in Nebraska (and Kobe, though I'd imagine Kawasaki and the MTA would mutually prefer using Lincoln as much as possible).
  11. Incidentally, I had just returned from there (actually right by the elevator to the station) when I made that reply.
  12. Have you seen how busy that area gets? That's not even getting into how busy the route gets east of there.
  13. First, that Q30 branch was created out of short-turns that didn't cover that very distance you're implying isn't a big deal (by that logic, the Q27 shouldn't directly serve QCC, either). Second, the current Q30 and proposed Q75 cover a fair bit of ground as it is, so stopping short of a notable school -- which is also a significant employer -- doesn't really make sense.
  14. You, uh, may want to retract that bit.
  15. Well, for one, it doesn't extend that far.
  16. They're saying it was heat-related. Damn. Here's hoping we don't see any wildfires in NYC. There was already a bad fire in NJ's pine barrens...
  17. Well, if nothing else, it's good that these things are being caught now. Let's just hope this doesn't balloon into yet another R179 fiasco (though I doubt this, in no small part because that involved mind-boggling incompetence).
  18. That station was never extended to handle trains longer than 6 cars.
  19. And how are those trains supposed to get into Manhattan?
