  1. I'll need to see some sources.
  2. The idea that the is somehow a failure for not doing much to siphon riders from the is honestly an insane idea in no small part because the route is nonetheless reasonably popular, to say nothing of the fact that they're usually not that close together, anyway.
  3. Not all transportation in NYC is owned or operated by the MTA.
  4. Yes, yes it did. Personally, I'd have it return there under a different structuring of Allerton Avenue and Gun Hill Road bus service, but that's for a different topic.
  5. Next, you're gonna tell me you want the state to kill them, aren't you?
  6. Not nearly to the degree of the Bx30 stubbing at White Plains Road...
  7. So how would you go about directly serving that station without creating a stub?
  8. That's not even remotely what I meant.
  9. The reduction in service is unrelated to the work in the Bronx. Also, the and are passing through that area as I type this with the same closures (it's also happening tomorrow).
  10. What possible excuse is there for bastardizing the this weekend?
  11. This is exactly the sort of thing that leads me to believe arrangements like these aren't simply less than ideal, but actually terrible.
  12. What a mess. Whose bright idea was it to have trains stop at one local station while skipping the other two, anyway? (Granted, I always pegged it as an idea that involved someone sticking their head up their sandy ass, but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad...)
  13. Tis? *shot* Whatever they are, I'm just glad to see them.
  14. In that case, what are we waiting for? I honestly question how much of an impact that would really have, as the increased connectivity -- especially with modern construction methods -- would, at worst, only slightly reduce property values. If noise is really that much of a concern, use Sapporo as a reference point. At some point, we'll really need to get over this aversion to setting up elevated lines, and I say this as someone who doesn't exactly like heights.
  15. I think you meant to say intra-island. To be honest, I'm not sure if I can really add anything to this conversation, as I feel like just about everything that needs to be said has been.
  16. By making the situation even more nebulous than it already is?
  17. A good number of locomotives outright lack the proper equipment to run exclusively on electricity. To make matters worse, equipment is pretty limited and spread thin.
  18. Yeah, I'm gonna need some reliable sources for these claims. This site is not a toilet, after all.
