  1. The R44 has a mini cab door that the crew goes through and that there's a rectangle glass part to where you're standing or entering and exiting the train. https://orenstransitpage.com/transit-photography/united-states/new-york-city/new-york-city-subway-retired-rolling-stock/r44-cars/ The R46, however has a larger sliding door in entrance. No glass portion unlike the R44 on the interior. https://www.myclallamcounty.com/2020/05/06/historic-new-york-city-subway-shutdown-for-cleaning-deemed-successful/ There's also different shade of color on the sides in between in bumps on the R44, forgot why that's the case. The SIR's R44 oddly enough doesn't have this.
  2. Oh wait, I was either not paying attention or I couldn't see my screen properly. Either way, I think I discovered what it's like to be dyslexic with images.
  3. Wait, is 4140 the A car or the B car? Image shows both A cars, begs me to believe it's not 4140 that's missing unless I forgot the numberings on the R211's, in which case forget anything I said.
  4. They're essentially scapegoating a game that came out 11 years ago and is mostly relevent because of tiktok specifically with the kinds of videos just having nothing to do with subway surfing in the slightest. Literally all videos relating to the game Subway Surfers are either reddit posts reposted on tiktok with text-to-speech or are clips from games, tv shows, or movies. I have not seen a single video of Subway Surfers relating to people doing it irl. Really goes to show how out of touch people can really be and how much research was actually put into it. Like the saying goes, "correlation is not causation." What makes it even more stupid when it came to scapegoating Subway Surfers as the "cause" of this is the fact that NY and the MTA are only tackling this issue now. Yes, they started doing something about it a few months or maybe a year ago when the MTA went ahead and started tackling down on subway surfing videos, but it's the fact that they're really starting to get to the bottom of it now. Not a few months ago, not a year ago, not even 2 or 3 years ago when subway surfing was skyrocketing, now. Hochul had a reelection back in 2022, Adams was mayor in late 2021, both those times were prime time for subway surfing in general and they're only tackling this now. Anyway... The MTA needs to keep its mouth shut ngl. The article even says that this wasn't the first time the MTA promised something and never kept it when it came to the . Not even when it came to just increase in subway service, but just in general. Pretty sure everyone knew the MTA was just spewing out bullshit and will continue to do so for the most part is all I'm gonna say.

  6. Were you expecting me to say yes? I knew it was bullshit from the start, there was no way the MTA would follow through with that or even in general a lot of the times.

  8. The to Astoria and crew swapping with the would help fix the issue with the maybe, but I fail to see how running the along QBL would be a good idea. Especially with your idea of running the as an express line along a rather busy corridor forcing replacing another line that's already been known as the QBL express line that runs to Manhattan, it's just going to fail especially with Queens Plaza only accessible to express service only. The point I'm getting at is that Jackson Heights would continue to be a station that forces people to transfer, now you have people transferring over express because most people are going to transfer over to the . LIRR and express buses isn't much of a feasible alternative because that's extra money for just one trip, especially express buses being $7 ride.
  9. Never mind 75 footers, would 60 footers even be able to make such a curve?
  10. That's probably what it went to QBL for, testing with CBTC.
  11. To anyone that wants to take a look at this, I didn't really bother looking at this honestly. I'm just disappointed it took them this long to really say something after months to even years of this happening.
  12. Really depends on whether WTC will allow for the to terminate there and how much backlash that'll cause for all Fulton, Lefferts, and Rockaway riders. LES-2 Av ain't an option either.
  13. Since we can't seem to move on from the whole to QBL topic, I bring you yet another proposal for you guys to trash me on. Essentially, a new connection is made between the 8 Av line and 60 St tunnel. The southbound connection would be the easier one to build (hopefully), it would be a straight shot from the curve continuing underneath 59 St then start to curve south towards 8 Av and run underneath Columbus Circle. It would then start rising up to meet up with the 8 Av southbound local and merge before entering 50 St station. Now the northbound connection is going to be a bit more difficult. I'm not sure how far down the 6 Av connection is between 7 Av and Columbus Circle station is, all I know is that a split is made skewing the northbound tracks along since the local line to then start dipping down when possible heading towards 59 St. This would then continue going a little further down to avoid having an at-grade junction and then merge after rising to merge. As for how service would run, this is up to anyone. I made this edit as merely a concept of how the connection would work, but also as a way to add a redundancy to both in 8 Av and 60 St tunnel.
  14. You want to talk about "dumb points or opinions that literally make no sense or have no true basis in reality or logic", then allow me to educate or enlighten you. Like what Cyclone has just mentioned, you're adding yet another merge point between both the and which are already having issues running around because of other lines running around as well. like the merge between Canal St all the way to Hoyt-Schermerhorn. Then you have another with the merging with the between Canal St all the way to 50 St. And last but not least, the merge between the and between 59 St-Columbus Circle all the way to 145 St. Do you really wanna cut more capacity between the and just so the can go to Lefferts and not make any difference in boosting service? This isn't about de-interlining in the slightest, far from it, it's about making sure you don't cut more service than needs to be when it comes to proposing ideas. What's the point in getting rid of the when it is literally just the ? Why would anyone ever agree to service reduction on the so the would get more service? Demand between QBL riders and Crosstown riders are skewed not in Crosstown's favor. The ride between going through Manhattan and going through Crosstown does not make any kind of difference in service last I checked, hell Crosstown practically parallels Manhattan especially with it being so god damn close to the island itself being on the West side of Brooklyn for majority of it's routing from South Brooklyn. If there is anything that I've seen on the BMT Culver and as an old daily rider of the BMT Culver, I do not see the demand of anyone asking for the . Hell, I don't see as many people riding Culver compared to the IND South Brooklyn line. The only people I see that are asking for direct service from Crosstown to QBL are those that live along Crosstown, like I said, it's rather skewed between Crosstown and QBL. As for the , as much as I missed riding the line and having extra service that is needed along West End, the line did carry air going to South Brooklyn and just isn't needed.
  15. 1.) The would be carrying air replacing service to Bay Ridge. 2.) Why would cutting the back help? It can't even terminate at Whitehall because of the unless you cut that back to Canal St which doesn't matter anyway cause of Whitehall only having 1 track to terminate. 3.) What's the point? it'll still be a single track service with only a direct connection to the as a subway line at Lex-63 St. 4.) There are half a dozen people in this thread alone that have already stated why the cannot and will not return to Forest Hills.
  16. I believe this was the set that was had major graffiti on it and this is the aftermath of it.
  17. Maybe they're using this time to train more operators for the R211's? We're already at 4130 so safe to say things are ramping up and they need more crews qualified? Probably a stretch from my part yet again.
  18. Maybe you should look at the comment TMC is replying to, at no point has he mentioned de-interlining nor is he saying it should be de-interlined.
  19. Wait that's... actually rather interesting that they're doing this. Maybe there's another GO preventing the to run around? Okay yeah I just checked and there's another GO happening. Maybe it has nothing to do with it, but safe to say it's this.
  20. As much as I wouldn't mind the idea, in practice, it might still be just as complicated, if not more. The and are SMEE's, if some 's start running express along Brighton, they're going to not have a good time crew swapping because it'll be another situation like at Ditmars Blvd. The latter half might help, but they will most likely use the since that still exists as a program.
  21. He's literally not wrong about this, though. Do you really want to have the continue into Queens merging with the again just to split up again after a few stops?
  22. Why would you cut back the again? Literally does not make sense to cut it back to 57 St like it used to decades ago in place of another line when it doesn't run to 179 St in the first place.
  23. Allow me to educate you, others will come in and probably tell you the same exact thing. 1.) The as the full time local along Crosstown would still literally be the and doesn't make a difference. Running the via Crosstown to QBL Express (f**k it I'm calling it the ) would make it worse because of the already mergings going on around that area with the being cut off by the and later on the because it has to run local, then the because it's already express, and then the actual later on. This does not make it any easier whatsoever. 2.) Full time to Lefferts doesn't help at all since there's already a merge happening between the and just so they can split again after a few stops. This has been proposed thousands of times, it's not original.
  24. Your forgetting the now that I think about it, you cannot cut it back in Brooklyn either since that was the whole reason the and swap happened in the first place, even if this is Sea Beach. I also fail to see how running the via 63 St would be better than continuing the via 60 St even with the whole 34 St merge being an issue. Because now you have another annoying merge and QBL still not running optimally with the now merging with the along 63 St to later with the along QBL.
