  1. Today, more work has been done at 82nd street, like previously said, the crews will be painting the steel structures green, which has occurred today, and new yellow platform edges are beginning to see shape, and the second stair from platform/mezzanine has been complete. The crews will most likely focus on the mezzanine in the next upcoming weeks, hopefully the new windscreens are installed this month or next month, for 111 Street I have no updates, I’ll most likely take a trip tomorrow or the following day there
  2. The platform has been 100% completed at 82nd street, with more light installation in the area, for 111 street. They’re still working to reinforce the concrete platform, in the next upcoming weeks, the crew will most likely finish installing the new canopy roof at 82nd street, and probably painting the steel structures with fresh new green coat of paint
  3. the mta hasn’t updated their reNEWvation status for weeks…… anyway 8th street NYU on the was on the list and it has recently been completed. hopefully the MTA can give an update of before and after, it’s pretty interesting to see the aesthetic changes
  4. I saw car 4164 at the Coney Island yard today, don’t know what that could mean, is it there for testing purposes?
  5. As of today, Sunday December 10, the 82nd street station has received multiple appearance changes The station’s canopy will be identical to the original IRT style, just like Astoria Blvd station received during renovations in 2019 New lighting has been placed on the out side area of the station, they look similar to the ones at Astoria Blvd A new staircase has been built that goes to the mezzanine level, however no changes are done yet at the mezzanine level, except for a new staircase that’s not 100% completed but has been opened to reduce over crowding For 111 street, not much can be seen, just new concrete platforms, and several more concrete reinforcements are being installed on the area
  6. I thought they had a schedule where they’re chosen a line to operate in, but that’s what I kinda meant to say, it doesn’t necessarily mean the 211’s will end up on QBL
  7. Or maybe it’s for selected schedules where train operators that work on other lines get to operate the 211’s on the
  8. I still use a metro card because there is limited amount of omny vending machines near by,, one at junction Blvd but too lazy to go there, and I’m not willing to go to cvs or Walgreens to buy an omny card
  9. December 3 2023: More concrete slabs are being installed at 82nd street, it is half complete for now
  10. can anyone just press the switch button, for example switching a local to express at willets point, is it possible??? Or do train operators use a special tool for it?
  11. November 27 2023: The blue barricades have been removed in certain areas at 82nd street, which finally exposes the on going work, for 111 street, a small portion has been removed, this is mainly due to the newly installed platforms, 111 street didn’t receive any new platforms yet, since the contractor is using a different method to install them.
  12. As of today, November 25th 2023 New platforms are being installed at 82nd and 111 Street 69th Street has been receiving white painting on several steel structures, and light bulbs near the tracks, which indicates construction could begin soon New updates will be posted here
  13. In this thread, updates on the ongoing repairs that are happening on the line, there are several projects that will essentially improve the through the next upcoming years, everyone is welcomed to comment here if interested, especially if you are a causal line rider Finished projects: Flushing Main Street circulation improvements Grand Central 42nd Street stairs and structural repairs (3rd Avenue exit) On Going Projects: 82nd and 111 Street Renewal Escalator replacements 74th Street Broadway Woodside 61 Street track support structural repairs and repainting Grand Central 42nd Street Circulation improvements ADA Queensboro Plaza Future upcoming projects 69th 52nd 61st Street Station Renewal (Construction date 2024) 103rd Street Corona Plaza Station renewal (Construction Date 2025)
  14. It’s been completed like days ago, don’t know why the MTA decided to announce this today
  15. This is what I’ve predicted in the past, everyone called me crazy, saying that the and will both use 179 sets and it’ll basically impossible for the to only run 100% 179 sets, but here we are
  16. Does anyone know why the can’t run in 2 sections, especially tomorrow, where service can still be served between Manhattan and queens between 34th Steeet and Hunters point Avenue, if this pattern is possible during heavy snow storm conditions, then why isn’t it implemented as a GO service?
  17. They’ve been doing to every line, the 7th Avenue station on the had their Columbus painted in a blackish color, it honestly looks dope
  18. Elevator installation at Queensboro plaza, the station complex will be fully closed, it also affects the
  19. An addition to this, it seems like the contractors are already installing equipment on the Manhattan bound side at 69th street on the , if im not wrong, it could possibly mean 1 or 2 things 1. 69th Street Station Renewal: once the 82nd and 111 Street Manhattan bound platforms are completely rehabilitated, they’ll start closing the opposite side, at the same time closing the Manhattan bound platforms at 69th street, maybe 52nd street too I have no idea 2. Structural repairs/Overcoat painting: There is a contract, where the crews will do structural repairs, and paint sections that weren’t painted, which were part of a previous contract I want to stick with my first option, it’ll essentially complete the project much faster, and the whole Main St-74th St GO wouldn’t delay the project even further, I wonder what’s happening on the renovations, anyone got an update on that???
  20. The 74th Street-Main Street GO on the will start to happen more often next year, problem is that this will affect the 82nd and 111 Street Station renovation projects, it’s currently delayed already, it doesn’t need to be delayed again, my suggestion is to do this GO around approximately May-June 2024, when the 52nd and 69th street Manhattan bound platforms will be closed, so then the 74th-Main St GO will be worth it, no trains will pass on either direction, and there will be more time for construction to be done.
  21. Finally, all though the mta should’ve studied such features years before the 211’s entered service, it’s kinda too late to introduce such feature “Again”
  22. Pretty sure the trump administration was for the second Avenue subway, but the state was against any funds from him, not surprising at all, Andrew cromo is to blame in this case, either way the project would’ve taken years to be built
  23. there’s a video on YouTube showing a bunch of kids playing around with the lights on an R46, Normal passengers can’t even enjoy a peaceful ride
  24. Hunters point avenue and Avenue J reNEWvations have been completed
  25. Wow I doubt it’ll be finished in September 2032
