  1. I thought the plan was to do 10 cars a month through the end of year/base order (or was it 10 a week?)
  2. So if we see 10 cars a month delivered, then we'll see the R46s start retiring towards December?
  3. The SIR R44s should start getting pulled from service once the R211s start to arrive in enough numbers though, right? IIRC they plan on doing the 30 day test next month too
  4. Is RIOC going to hang onto its NG units or are they replacing them too
  5. Thanks for keeping it updated - I see posts of R32s at SBK every now and then but I haven't found a detailed list anywhere else than there. It'll be sad to see the R46s go in the next few years but it'll be interesting to see if they preserve any and what they do with the OOS cars
  6. what bus models built after 1980 have been preserved, minus the RTS and the one express bus from ground zero?
  7. No problem, there's a roster at nycsubway.org
  8. To add to that they've also taken a lot of R32s off property in the past few months (I think about 110 are left, and 80-90 of them are awaiting scrap), so they'll have room at 207, CI, and 38th where I think a good amount are sitting (though I'm not sure if they still strip cars of parts at the first two anymore)
  9. Does this mean all 4100 series cars are on property?
  10. Why does the run local on Broadway overnight when the runs express on CPW? Is ridership that high overnight? With the via Montague overnight couldn't you leave the tower unstaffed if the express tracks are left at the bridge and SAS positions?
  11. What do the RTO people in here think of the suggested plan in here to deinterline Rogers with the new switches? Would it be beneficial at all?
  12. Imo it wouldn't hurt to build a new MNR stop at Claremont Parkway and create a sort of ticket where in-city fares are something like 4 or 5 dollars. It may not have the same impact as subway service, but doing that aiming for 20-30 minute headways would bring some transit access - in many European cities you have commuter trains pick up the slack in subway deserts.
  13. IIRC the MTA is looking at having the R211S in service around March-April, right?
  14. This is slightly off topic, but have they ever considered building infill stops on the Harlem Line with cheaper fares to fill the 3rd Av transit gap? Adding stops at 149th (if there is room), 169th and 183rd could help
  15. How many elevated stations are left to be renovated with the new windscreens in the system after this?
  16. IIRC the PATH concourse has a few stairs but there is a probably a ramp as well, which leads you to the ground floor of the Oculus. From there I think you need to take two separate elevators to get to the mezzanine for the at Chambers Street, and then you'll need to go down the stairs to the platforms.
  17. Looking at google maps, you can build a 240 ft platform at Park Place without building a bridge over either Park Place or Prospect Place. Same for Franklin Av, but there's the issue of the curve. IIRC there is some room at Botanic Garden to extend the platforms further south. They probably won't do it until they need to replace the R68s, but extending the platforms to 4 cars would mean they won't need to order single cars. That being said there's enough room to extend 145th on the from 6 and 1/2 cars to 10 cars and they still haven't done that and don't seem to want to.
  18. When are all the base order and SIR cars planned to be delivered by?
  19. How many cars are left on property at this point?
  20. I hope we can see the TOMM run at some point - would be nice to see the 38s, 40s and 42s out. I wish the NYTM did a summer run like the Holiday Train with a regular trip rather than a ticketed hours-long trip, but it would probably cost them too much.
  21. I think I heard that they should finish construction sometime in December
  22. A few questions: 1. Could the truck issues mean that Kawasaki will switch back to R160 style trucks for the rest of the fleet? 2. I saw a video of the R211S testing on SI - are the 5 pilot cars for that using the same trucks as 4060-9? 3. Does the R211T use the same trucks as the R211A pilot set?
  23. I noticed there was a service change on the where they suspended service north of Kings Highway and ran a shuttle between Kings Highway and CI. I'd imagine they wouldn't do this today, given the runtime length and confusion, but IIRC didn't they run through run the via CI to Kings Highway at some point around 20 years ago under a similar GO? Any reason why they would have done that rather than split it into the shuttle segment like they do now?
  24. Reconfiguring the station to allow for short-turns has a low but non-zero chance or happening. Canarsie-Nassau service is not happening since the transfer at Broadway Junction is not difficult and it would unnecessarily handicap the where it is busiest
