  1. ^yup. If they hate the old stuff so bad, take a cab or something. The mta doesn't have millions to spend on a whim because one person bitched about riding old trains. The ideal car shelf life is 40yrs. Why retire it so soon if it still runs? Possible service additions to at least the 1. If the 4 needs an extra train or more, I think it'd be a displaced R142A set(s) from the 6.
  2. The ones on the 7 weren't too bad. Some of them were like iceboxes. I'll put it this way: NTT, they will more or less work evenly, but they are pretty weak (hardly feels like it's on unless you stand directly below the vents) on crowded cars. R62As, they can be hit or miss.
  3. No, it would've required a few more trains from the 2/5 as well. The 4 is made up of R142/As. And seeing that they'd take the oldest sets to convert, the ones from the 2 would likely be taken and then the 2 would probably take trains from the 4. Essentially the 4 could be all R62As, so that is possible. But I think the 7 has more total cars, so the 6 would still probably see some R62As anyway.
  4. lol, yup Yup, like I said in the random thoughts thread: pointless to argue. 'anything old (trains, not the buses, but probably the same deal) = bad' He won't be satisfied till all the old trains are gone. Forget the fact that the new trains haven't been ordered yet (and if there's funding for it) or that the R62As have like another 10+ years left.
  5. And Flatbush* *part of that 3 way swap that sent the xd40s to ENY, 4900s to FB, and 9600s to UP.
  6. ^ If this was subchat someone would insert the 'hand stab' clip.
  7. Yeah, I tried covering the typical open areas, but there's no way I can find all the places. For now the traps will do.
  8. Man they really screwed up the numbering thing. This mess could've been avoided if they had just left the lfsa in the 1300s group or renumbered the O5 6000s to 9700s and just retire the d60 hf outright (instead of having to renumber them). And finally the xd60s should've been the 1000s as it was instead of using it for the 5400s d60hfs (basically having the same bus type replacing itself). I mean sure the cng o5s are almost all gone and would free up the 9800-9900 numbers, but what are they saving the 9700s (last used for the ex-qsc RTSs) for?
  9. Not to worry. The traps, once I see the dead rodent in it, I dump the body in the trash outside the house. I don't touch the body at all. (I do scrub the trap with a soap soaked ppr towel and wearing disposable gloves.) Unfortunately there were some occasions they died while i was away for sometime and the decomposing corpse made any cleaning of the traps out of the question. I wasn't touching that especially maggots on it.
  10. Oic. I typically don't like to do the dirty work either, but given the sudden 'appearance' I take the shoe out before the raid cans. I guess I'm sorta desensitized about the icky clean up (the splattered remains). I just take some ppr napkin, wrap and flush down the toilet (to be sure they can't come back). I heard too many bug stories about how they can survive anything so just tossing it in the trash isn't enough. I also take another napkin (soaked in some soapy water) and wipe the area i killed the bug at. A few times in the past I even had a moth fly in and those were a pita to deal with. LOL! Well I dunno, I sorta don't blame them, bugs the size of a thumb can be scary as hell. But yeah, not very good making their girl to do that job for them. Come to think of it ever since i moved out of the apartment, I never needed any of the raid stuff. I got bigger stuff to worry like mice (thankfully i got several electric traps to take care of that).
  11. Well no B's running, so I guess a free set to pick since it isn't doing anything. I'd like to catch one, but never remember these concerts nor care for them lol.
  12. I think what you have is a waterbug. I dealt with that type a few times and it wasn't pleasant. One time I took a seat cushion and gave it a whack and it fell to the ground where I took a shoe and stomped on it. I thank goodness that it stayed in the general area and not fly off elsewhere. Basically when i found it and killed it, it was within a few minutes. Silverfish (centipede type) is also nasty looking and climb on walls. I mean all the screens in the house are intact, I dunno how the hell those get in....
  13. So why is MHV always short? Why not just give them what they need instead of loaning out buses?
  14. They aren't doing that. The split R/via bridge thing may be a year, but I don't think they are going to do something like what you are suggesting. Even with the issues of the fewer doors on the R46 for the F, what will you do with the C? R46s on C will mean less trains they can run because the C has a high need for spare R32s which will all be used up for the F. I like the R32s, but at this point they are good for less demanding lines. C works because it is 18/7 and the J is pretty short.
  15. But given the choice, you'd prefer it if they were new. Trains have a longer lifespan than buses. It's too bad you don't like the old trains. They are not going to retire just because you think they are 'depressing'. If they can still run, they are staying. It's taken them god knows how long for the R179s to come and then there's the R211s which isn't anywhere ready to arrive. So even if you wanted those old cars to go, there's nothing ready to replace them, so it's either no service or the old cars. For the MNCR/LIRR I'd rather have the old M1/3 over the M7 because the seats are terrible on the M7 even though those are 'nice and new'.
  16. It's not worth wasting your time on him. Anything old = bad in his mind. As for the idiot commenter you called out, just a troll. Would there be idiots saying the same about if it was a new car and that got trashed saying how great the old stuff is? Perhaps and I'd call them idiots as well. Why scrap something if the damage is minor? The extremists are nuts.
  17. But at least then you had to type the buttons instead of the phone like with gta 4. So technically if the codes are typed on a phone, it should be stored on it, so i understand the frustration. At least if it isn't a phone, you can press the buttons more quickly. I'm slow on the phone 'typing'.
  18. Seeing his posts about 'dangerous loading conditions on the 1' (in the revive the 9 thread), it's kinda hard to tell if he's being serious or just trolling. So he hasn't exactly have a good record to start with. But that said he could've been more specific than so broad and general.
  19. The point is, it is special now, but when there's nothing but the same thing running, the appeal will likely wear off. Same for the R62A on the 6 chasers. It's unique for now, but when they become the majority again, same applies for there.
  20. No, but you will see a lot of artics there as it's the only line they are sent to. Still waiting on the B44sbs thing... at this point they may as well put the artics on the b44 limited and 'adjust' (space them out) the runs and free up some buses for the other lines. I wonder if they should switch the B9 and B2 spots or maybe have both share the b2 spot? I don't think it's the turn, it's about the length. Can they have 2 artics there without anything blocking the entrance?
  21. I don't think they'd need an artic for school runs on the B9. RTSs are good enough. Yes, I've seen a few RTSs on the B9, they are school runs.
  22. Well there are no cng artics in the city, so that analogy doesn't fly. Dunno about the b42 stop next to the L train, and not sure about the ridership on it, but I think the B15 would be the most likely choice for artics. B82, maybe an outside shot.
  23. What number did 1014 used to be? It looks like 5504. Either way a bad job on the renumbering as you can still see the 5 part clearly and lol, rear sign set to Q10. Sigh, 2nd hand shit, 'gotta love it.'
