  1. The better lighting and the clean seats in the R188, The lighting R142As looks crap compered to the R188 but then again the lighting will degrade over time anyway, For those who are upset about R62A being on the 6 route don't be, The queens riders deserve the New cars with the lack of Subway option in the east side of queens. however I just hope that they could at least fix the speaker on the R62A so blind Riders can hear them as well the the subway conductor saying the announcements.
  2. I rode the R188 from the time squire terminal to grand central and I have to say smooth ride.
  3. Does anyone know when Mother Clara Hale Depot will be opened? I want to see some Diesel back on the BX21
  4. Am back Time for some rare pics From a distant's is the 180th Street Bronx Park terminal, just before being remove until 1952. judging by the low-v still original IRT bottom lights in the distant's this pic was taking the late to mid 40s since you can still see the dual 3rd rail back then Now Here other treat, a street View of the Westchester ave IRT Line Bergen Ave and 149th connection to the 3rd el, you can see a low-v going in to the tunnel to the 149 street underground station. in the background under the Westchester line el structure you can see a GM ''old look''bus, possibly the old BX42 route before the renumbering in the 80s to the Bx4. Back then Now
  5. Yes but they are little different in the control system in the R188 R188 Cab controls look familiar R160s doesn't it? R142 It's ok man, it's the internet it's hard to expect stuff like this
  6. Also the cab control will be similar to the R160 from what am hearing.
  7. Which the MTA is considering ,I doubt they are going to do put automated announcements and route strip maps on a 25 year old fleet, to costly, but The LED signs will be the only major upgrade just like they did when they rebuild the R-32 and R-46. I hope am wrong. Relax am glad to see some R62 Again on the 6
  8. So the and route will be mix with the new and old equipment? Cause it would be really sad if the 6 fleet will be all R62, that would be one major downgrade LOL.
  9. Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal Live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWkRGVuGVVk&list=LLgl9T-IJjllndI7uUoKBhOw
  10. Wow was everyone's ride with nice in 2012? Am surprised that Nice still has the MTA blue paint line on some of the Orion Vll Next Gen.
  11. I can't believe they are making the 7 automated
  12. The sec ave subway is useless if it can't go to outer boroughs. it is just a Manhattan shuttle.
  13. Westchester Ave looking northeast from Brook Ave in the 1940s, The two tracks coming up on the far left and right are subway routes 2 and 5. This is right after the subway comes up from underground.
  14. It get better. This is IRT White Plains To 3rd Ave E connection in 3rd Ave This connection was built in 1904 to connect the 2nd and 3rd Ave El with the Westchester Ave extension of the IRT Subway. Upon completion of the Bergen Cut-off in 1918, this section of track would become a non-revenue emergency connection. This and the Bergen Cut-off structure were removed in 1950-52.Rising to the El level one can still see the shortened supports for former connections the Third Avenue El. From nycsubway.org
  15. This is the 180th Street Bronx Park terminal. originally intended to extend farther north during construction but was changed into a terminal due to protests stating that the trains running over the park would be bad for animals in the Bronx Zoo. The line's extension is the reason for the S-curve north of the West Farms Square – East Tremont Avenue station. After the line's extension to Wakefield – 241st Street between 1917 and 1920, the Bronx Park spur was considered redundant, but was not closed and abandoned until 1952.
  16. local pizzerias are always the best, but if I have to pic a chain pizzeria I would go with domino's.
