  1. Is RVC still M-F or did NICE convert it to a 7 day a week operation? Is it still the "senior" garage? LI Operator...? I was thinking if NICE needed drivers they could access new employees with the ease of the RVC station near by...
  2. http://riverheadlocal.com/breaking-news/animal-shelter-employee-hurt-in-crash-with-county-bus-on-river-road These Orion's are looking more and more like tanks after every accident (then again, what are Hyundai's made of 99% plastic?)...
  3. You should have reminded her it's Nassau County's bus not hers.... You should have asked to see the rule where you can be denied boarding unless the driver trusts you won't take a picture. These people are unbelievable, cops in public can be filmed (unless you're being detained) and bus drivers think they are above it.. lmao Keep in mind most bus drivers aren't foamers so when they see people taking pictures they think it is going to be used to try to get them in trouble.
  4. At about 8 O'Clock tonight I saw a NICE bus at the Bellmore Ave/Merrick Ave split in East Meadow heading north with n19 on the desitination sign...
  5. It didn't look like fire damage and it didn't look like an bus, I was thinking one of the Brooklyn Jewish buses, PANYNJ bus, or some other bus at the airport (Delta, parking, car rental)... I'm in that area once a week, I can try to swing by and get a pic next week...
  6. I was surprised the accident happened in April and it looks like the bus hasn't been touched... Do buses usually go over 3 months before being having anything done with them? I mean this bus has a door that doesn't close and a broken windshield that's left the bus open to the elements, not tarp, plastic nothing... Aren't they afraid of water damage or anything in 3 months? Why would a bus sit so long without being fixed? Could the wait for insurance money (assuming the other party is at fault)? Could the bus have been impounded by the DOT or city for a safety check after the accident? What?
  7. Sorry for the crappy quality (as I was driving by when I took the pic) but 3000 (last on right) is parked tonight in Northeastern Bus Rebuilders' Deer Park lot. This bus wasn't there when I drove by on Friday (a couple of SCT buses, 3329 and an unidentified bus with heavy damage wrapped in a tarp).,I passed turned around and took a pic as I passed, the damage is looks much worse in person, my first reaction was "f--k, what did you hit? A quick search here revealed the accident with the garbage truck.... As you might be able to make out in the pic the windshield is broken, front bashed in (not too bad), with damage to the fenders, passenger door, and mirror. I assume the bus was towed (or put on a lowboy) to Deer Park? Anyone know how hard the bus was going when it hit the garbage truck? A tank? Yes, but it still looks like a pretty hard hit (20-30mph, not a tap lol) the pic doesn't do the damage justice.
  8. 1022 & 5073 are in Northeastern Bus Rebuilders Deer Park lot.
  9. Oh man, I tried finding a n87 map but couldn't. Is the bus going from Wantagh to Freeport, THEN to Jones Beach? If that's the case I've never been on a n87 (or 88) and never will be. Why not just send the bus on the WSP? not enough pax? Isn't that how the bus went last year? WSP? Will the 87 still be going down to Merrick? There is still a bus stop sign on Merrick Rd. under the WSP bridge that intersects Merrick Rd., if that sign remains people will get confused!
  10. Nobody knows, nothing has been announced... No need to keep asking I'm sure there will be a big discussion here considering we're all waiting to see who the new manufacturer will be considering the fleet is now all Orion & Orion is now defunct.
  11. He has nothing else to do since NICE fired him... Seriously. Let's all pitch in and buy Pine a one way ticket to westchester! People are leaving Long Island because it is expensive not because of NICE or Westchester having more walkable communities. These people have cars but are still leaving...
  12. I really don't think it's called "Macy's Shopping Center" as Macy's would probably be more than happy to call it that. It is confusing I do believe it is two different shopping centers right next to each other and probably called many things over the years...
  13. Apparently the shopping center I saw this particular bus in was "Commack Plaza" not Mayfair shopping center... I dunno I don't go there, in my defense I didn't know the name of the plaza, HART lists the plaza on the H10 website as "Macy's Plaza" I looked on Macy's website and they say they are located in the Mayfair Shopping Center.
  14. That's what I was thinking... Although anything could've happened that we would know of (accident in the yard) etc... If you recall right before Veolia took over in Nassau County half of LIB's buses didn't pass DOT inspection so the sent city buses over to keep the system running. A LIB driver backed into another city bus (I think at HTC) and there is (or was) a city bus running around with an obvious LIB back. I'm not sure if it was a 30 or 35 foot, went by too fast...
  15. Couple of notes... 5031 was broken down out of service with its engine compartment open during the PM at Walt Whitman Mall... There was a new model 35 foot (or shorter) Orion with a completely white back at the Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack. I couldn't seethe number of the bus but the back was obviously a replacement, really looked like an Orion and looked wired being a short bus. (At least EBT buses) "follow us on twitter" is starting to pop up on the rear of the side body with with #sctbus (or something like that) and the twitter logo in between the stripes on the livery...
  16. Hound, you're the only one who still has a record player. lol
  17. Is there a video of the "gas leak" lights referred to so I can see what people are talking about? I was referring to a light similar to this that I've seen near the front on the roof of nice buses.
  18. I thought it was to improve the visibility of the bus (so other motorists can see it can see it from further away) in inclement weather such as fog, similar to the strobes on top of school buses...
  19. I would've decked 'em! One of those people who think a bad joke is funny or can't respect a classic, either way they deserve to be hit. You know you're a foamer when you have to call your boss and tell him you'll be late because you had to get on 9117 that you saw at HTC... You know your boss isn't a foamer when he can't understand why you missed a half of day of work because you had to get on the "wrong bus" that blew your mind.. lol
