  1. The long and the short of is his royal majesty, the Emperor Cuomo, decided something to do something about the state of the subway... and gave them a weekend to figure out how to do it. the plan’s flaws are more numerious than it’s benefits. Once 1 AM hits, the trains are exit only. Not the just stations, the trains two. I actually asked them what would happen if a train had to be taken OOS after 1AM but before it got to the last stop. if there was a train with passenger behind the stalled one, would the passengers on the first train be allowed on the second. They said NO. The trains are exit only. It would seem the passengers were to be left to their own devices and told to get out of the station. Now, since they did not get off the train be choice, a reasonable plan would make an exception, considering this is practically a cardinal sin. More so when you consider this may be a violation of the ADA. consider this... an F has to be removed from service at Smith/9th. Passengers are told they have to get off and leave the station... and one of them happens to be in a wheelchair... are they so stubborn in their rules to have to carry this poor sap all the way down the stairs instead of letting them get on another train? this is what you do when you plan something step 1: “How many ways can this go wrong?” step 2: “How many ways can this go wrong... that I didn’t think of at step 1?”
  2. OMNY expansion halted due to virus. Then again, they did complete the March list anyway.
  3. Aside from that: ADD: Main Street, 111th Street, 90th Street and 61st Street.
  4. Supposedly these are to replace the gates. Don’t know how they’re going to work on exit or in an emergency.
  5. they mentioned it on Twitter as a prototype. The finished model will take OMNY and MetroCard. I’m guessing this is at the “Alpha” build stage.
  6. ADD: Broadway Junction, Liberty Avenue, Van Siclen Avenue, Shepard Ave and Euclid Avenue. the C now joins the list of completely activated lines and the J/Z and L get their first stations in Brooklyn. and.... this just in.... ADD... Mets-Willets Point! Finally another station in Queens... completely useless at the moment... but at least we who live in the World’s Borough have another...

Franklin Avenue Rockaway none
  8. Add to active: Nostrand, Kingston-Throop, Utica, Ralph and Rockaway.
  9. Nick... I’m guessing you’ve never worked retail... stores will often have something they sell to encourage you to shop there or to spend even more money. I used to work at Staples. We sold our printers at cost in the hope you’d buy ink from us in the future. Metrocard Merchants sell the cards in the hopes that while you’re in there, you’ll also get a coffee and a bagel or something. you’ve also forgotten that all Metrocard Merchants have a little sign in the window with a picture of a Metrocard.
  10. According to OMNY.info... ADD: Hoyt-Schermerhorn, Lafayette, Clinton-Washington and Franklin The G has it’s first OMNY station along with the Franklin Shuttle. and Longwood is still not listed as complete.
  11. We already know what you would suggest...
  12. There is chatter going ether way at the moment.
  13. Two things: A: I don't know what you were reading because that was always the plan. B: Stores can't charge markups for MetroCard, why would they be able to charge markups for pre-loaded OMNY? The prepaid OMNY cards in stores will roll out first because it will take time to upgrade/replace the vending machines.
  14. Now it’s correct. *Official list shows Longwood Avenue as offline, hence the
  15. It’s a little off for two reasons: Reason 1: Park Place on the 2/3 was brought online when Chambers St/World Trade Center was, since it’s once complex. reason 2:.... (clears throat) ADD: Wall Street, Clark Street & Hoyt Street unless Longwood Ave was just forgotten on the map, the entire mainline IRT north of Atlantic is online.
  16. I think his argument is to eliminate the in city zones and just have them with a general fare. but at the same time, by that logic, shouldn’t we also be dropping express bus fairs? Let everyone ride wherever they want. (that sound you just heard was every express bus rider having an aneurism... forget being possessive of their system, they get possessive of particular seats.)
  17. I think I'm going to make something out of that quote the one guy gave from Mayor LaGuardia, because it's spot on the nose, there are some things that partisan politics just do NOT belong in.
  18. Update, they’re all online, 110th to 148th. ... and Longwood is STILL not on yet. as of today, that and the 2/3’s Wall Street are the only IRT stations in their respective boroughs not yet ready according to the OMNY official list.
  19. Reports on twitter show at least one of the Lennox Ave stations are online.
  20. I don't mean Carle Place, I mean more like Great Neck sneaking over to Little Neck or Valley Stream to Rosedale. This is all besides the point that Jsun is right, the suburban commuters view the railroad as theirs, it's their only choice to get to the city that doesn't involve a highway. They'd take about as much offense that me, the pasty white Irish lass that I am, would be getting on the train for so much less then they paid as they would anyone else, and like I said, their fares would almost certainly go UP to cover it. In this sense, the Overground is not exactly the best yardstick, given it's design isn't mostly around London, not into and out of save the trains out of Liverpool Street and the Watford DC Line.
  21. Gun Hill on the Dyre Line is on, the 5 is now active from the Bronx all the way to downtown Brooklyn. (still no Longwood Ave on the 6...)
  22. The biggest hurdle is the most obvious, it costs more to operate. Overground is a completely OPTO operation. LIRR and Metro-North crews are usually, what, four or more per train? If the two lowered their in city fares, you would, first off, see a larger loss in fare box recovery off the bat because some people would travel the little bit further to get the cheaper ticket. then comes “how do you get more money to replace what you’ve given up?” you could look for an outside funding source... even though though could be easily lost or extremely unpopular, like a tax increase. you could increase the fares of commuters from the suburbs... but that would go over like a ham and cheese sandwich at a Hasidic Bar Mitzvah. “You mean I have to pay more to waste two hours of my day each way on this bucket of bolts so someone else can travel cheaper!?!” You could cut staffing, which will send the unions into a tizzy. or you can cut service and make everyone miserable...
  23. All Dyre Line stations EXCEPT Gun Hill Road are online (longwood is still listed as a NO as well)
