Seriously, how do you do it, the jokes and all? Your fellow workers must love having you around!...lol

  2. Happy belated birthday Metsfan! Hope you did a little railfanning to celebrate...lol :P

As for Hudson River, I really don't know why he got banned...I do recall some issue on the shoutbox where he was causing some ruckus though...I doubt it had something to do with his posts as he mainly created news article threads. Definitely ask around though.

I guess you're right...it's what Staten Islanders want. I don't mind a ferry ride but I wish there was a faster way to get to SI without having to shelve a premium fare which could backfire if the X1 gets caught up in traffic (reverse-peak congestion does happen). I also guess you're right about the FTSC project's prudence before anything else, since it will allow for transfers that never existed before (a connection between the (1) the IRT East Side, Eighth Avenue and Nassau would be nice, and will save passengers the hassle of going to Chambers, taking the downtown express to Fulton Street and walking through complicated passages.

I've heard about that plan as well, to introduce Light Rail service between Staten Island and Bayonne. That wouldn't be a bad idea, but to have to go into New Jersey to get to Manhattan kinda sucks. There needs to be a direct and quick connection. It sucks that the SAS project and the 63rd Street tunnel projects were delayed. The 63rd Street tunnel was only put on hold by one economic downturn though. We are in a crisis right now but it's gonna end soon, trust me. South Ferry was delayed for only a year, which is, to my standards, passable. If Staten Islanders pushed hard for it, the MTA would definitely secure funds to create a tunnel between SI and Manhattan. As for the (1) and the (9) operating on the SIR tracks, the line can be converted to subway standards, as the IND Rockaway Line, the IRT Dyre Avenue Line and many of the BMT Southern Division lines were once railroads and then converted to subway use. It can be done, but the people will have to push for it.

Thanks. I envision a possible tunnel link between Staten Island and Manhattan that could have the (1) and the (9) come to S.I. and even vehicular traffic so people won't have to drive from Staten Island to Manhattan via Brooklyn and vice versa. It could be built "63rd Street" style, which is an immersed tunnel and are cheaper, unlike the older tunnels which travel under the riverbed and are more expensive and are time-consuming to build.

Love the sig! I wish the (C) went to Lefferts as well!...

  8. Kudos on your strip maps. You should compile them and make a folder for them all here.

  9. Please explain something to me: where did you get that Akzidenz Grotesk font from?! You have basically used them in all your strip map signs and I'd like to get a hold of that font so I can work on some side TA projects myself.

You'll have to ask R160 Maniac, he made the LCD for me. ;)

  11. Hey I was thinking: you should make that Transit Memorabilia thread a sticky so it'd be easier to find and for people to post their stuff, even though it's a couple of years old. Just a thought.

  12. Lmao! Well what can I say, I know my trains!

  13. Yeah I did mean "Train to the Plane" when I typed TOTP. Don't know how the typo slipped me.:o

  14. Thanks. Because people are gonna complain about the (R) train being too long of a line if it went to Staten Island, then why not have the (1) go there instead? It would eliminate that slow ferry ride, and although it's a peaceful ride, it's too slow. The (1) could operate via North Shore and the Main Line, while the (9) could operate via Main Line express.

  15. Thanks. It's all apart of my own ideas for improving service in the subway if it were up to me, such as creating a four-track Nassau Street Line for local and express service, the (1) to Staten Island, and a super-express from Broadway Junction to Sutphin Boulevard, with only one stop at Woodhaven Boulevard.

Yup, the area's not bad but it tends to be sketchy. Same goes for East New York and some parts of Bushwick. That's why when I go railfanning there are some lines I really avoid. Not to be biased to the Bronx but the only line that I have railfanned in the Bronx by myself was the (1) because that borough is really sketchy, especially South Bronx.

  17. LRG

Lol...don't worry about it. I don't like the station myself as it looks somewhat decrepit with the closed-off mezzanine and crap but IMO it looks better than those stations south of Broadway Junction with those ugly beige tiles!

Utica Avenue is another station I get off at if I take the express, but a lot of hoodlums hang around the plaza at Malcolm X and Fulton so I'm not too keen being in that area at any time of day (unless I have my skateboard ;)).

Dude do you have a photobucket or some place where you post all your pictures?

  19. Yo send me a link to your website. Thanks.

  20. Hey man, thanks for posting that link with the decals. But since the models on that site are cheaper than MTH, do you think that the car bodies will fit over MTH's chassis if you took the bodies off or no?

  21. Sweet! I see you are a fan of the Slants!

  22. Ahh, interesting. Okay then.

  23. Are...are you...ARE YOU THE LEGENDARY RANGER?!?!?!
