  1. You know, maybe people want to take the commuter train into the city? Maybe they don't want to ride a bus although it's cheaper and slower? Traffic could be a bitch, y'know? Maybe they're willing to spend the extra couple of dollars for a one-seat trip to the inner city, maybe they're happy with their train?
  2. I try to stay away from McDonalds, last time I ate from there was when I was hanging with friends one night, got a value meal, Big Mac and fries, then one of my buds didn't want his last McDouble so I took that... Ugh, the fries were just god-awful. Never again. That was last December.
  3. Ah, yeah, I believe he's in there somewhere, that's how most people found out about what happened to 1804/1808 Lol. Extending the N24 to Hicksville, kinda ruins the point of the N22 when you think about it, the N24 was meant as a one-seat trip to Roosevelt Field from Queens
  4. The only good thing that's come from NICE so far are the drivers being able to really let loose in their driving from what I've heard from a good friend...
  5. While that is true, the price on those lenses is definitely pushing it for what can be currently found for many users
  6. If Canon users own full frames like the 5D/1Ds then they definitely have the money for one of the prime L lenses...
  7. Heh, I guess you could say that... This is more of a.... "They're not quite L-optics but this is as close as you'll get for $850!" These would have been OK if they had designed them for the crop bodies and not the full-frames...
  8. Yeah... I still think that's pretty pricey for such lenses... For 150 more you could get an f/2.8 straight aperture 17-55mm lens with USM and IS lol
  9. This should solidify your answer on the lens, they're f/2.8... Which is odd for a prime since those are usually in the f1.2-f/1.8 range
  10. 50mm will be a lot for you to work with in the subways... That's about equal to this field of view: (Photo taken at 46mm, I was standing at the opposite crosswalk) And I'd take the 70-200mm if I were you, having a prime 200mm means all your shots will more or less be trickier to use in some spots
  11. Says the person who adores the oldest trains in the system and dislikes most of the new stuff
  12. Showing off some skills All it takes is messing around with your camera settings!
  13. Daniel, you have a camera capable of 720p video. Don't bother. I have NEVER seen an SLR that allows you to do a "sweep" panorama. (The Sony Alphas with the translucent mirrors aren't technically SLR's) It's a gimmick created for the cheaper point-and-shoots to attract customers. Real panoramas are done with a bit of skill and patience. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out a camera. Back in the day when people had to use film EVERYTHING was done manually, yes, people used light meters to help evaluate the surrounding light before they could snap away- film isn't something you can waste with a few test shots. Be glad you already have a digital camera. You are improving slowly with every photo thread but there's SO MUCH MORE you can do with that camera of yours. Come on man, don't spend any more money than you have to. Seriously.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IRqM3R-VSk This mashup remix with Modjo and Brandy/Monica is legit awesome.
  15. At least they built the newer trains in a way that would repel the graffiti
  16. It's actually pretty difficult nowadays for graffiti artists to get their creativity going on on the subway trains, this isn't the 1970s or the 1980s when your typical rebel could hop a fence in the train yard and spend the night tagging up trains, security's been increased, technology has advanced, and the fact that it'll all get washed off within a day or two pretty much makes it pointless.
  17. This... I don't see the artistry in those pieces
  18. During the snowstorm last December while daringly riding the to Coney Island that night we noticed a Siemens set of R160s on the opposite track trucking through the snow without too much trouble, as opposed to our train, which was an Alstom-equipped unit and had small difficulties navigating. I don't mind the Alstoms, but I do love the rolling sound of the Siemens and the AD Tranz units...
  19. Ahaha thanks man! Will do!

  20. At night time, you should crank your aperture to its widest and shutter speeds as slow as your body can handle without shake blurring the shot. Then, hold your breath and press the shutter!
  21. Don't worry about the DSLRs right now... Focus on learning your camera first actually... And... Sony and Nikon are two different brands...
