  1. The 72nd Street/CPW station is closed due to an issue in the Dakota Apartments that police are concerned could spread to the station below if it were open. The local track is unusable because of this, however, the local tracks north of there CAN be used, including the crossovers to/from the express tracks, which ARE usuable.throughout. Also, a separate issue has 59th Street-Columbus Circle closed with all trains (including the (1)) passing through the station, but not stopping. (I had posted this one earlier, but no one had responded to it).

(B)(C) Trains skip 72 St. I think 32 tph can work in this case because there are no stations on the express track there.

    NEXT

Because of a police investigation, the Eastern Pkwy express and Brighton tracks are closed and impassable in the vicinity of 7 Av. The local tracks are fine.

Reroute (4)(5)(B)(Q) trains, keeping tph in account. Please avoid through-running or extending the (S)...it's not realistic.

  2. (2) terminates at 14th Street.

    (3) runs with the (1) to South Ferry.

I had in mind to terminate the (2) at Wall St - there is a crossover south of there (it's not shown on the track map).

That would give people the one extra transfer to the (4)(5) at Fulton St.

  3. Yes.

    (4) No service between 86 St and Brooklyn Bridge. The last stop on some southbound trains is 149 St. The last stop on some northbound trains is Bowling Green (wrong-rail via the loop to relay) or Wall St (use crossover).

    (5) Runs via the (2) in both directions between 149 St and Nevins St.

    (6) No service south of 59 St. The last stop on some southbound trains is 86 St.

    (7) No trains south of Hunterspoint Av. Passengers are encouraged to transfer at Queensboro Plaza to the (N)(Q).

<7> No peak express service. Use (7).

    (S) Suspended obviously.

    NEXT

Clark St (2)(3) is impassable. Challenge: you can introduce no more than one additional transfer for people who normally take the (2)(3).

Please take TPH into account. Wallyhorse: you can't fit the (4)(5)(6) (60 tph) onto one track.

  4. (1) No service between 96 and 14 St.

    (2) No service between 96 and Chambers St.

    (3) Suspended

    (4) Extended to New Lots Avenue.

    (7) No trains south of Hunterspoint Av

(A)(D) Uptown trains stop at 72 St.

    (B) Extended to Coney Island via Brighton Local.

    (N) No trains between Whitehall St and 59 St/Lex. Transfer between sections via the (4)(5).

    (Q) Suspended. Use (B)(N) service.

    (R) Trains run via the (D) from Atlantic Av to 47/50, then via the (F) to 36 St (Queens).

    (S) Suspended

    NEXT

Canal St (J)(N)(Q)(R)(6) closed and impassable. The (4)(5) tracks are unaffected however.

  5. (A) No trains between Jay St and Euclid Avenue. Select trains relay via Bergen Lower Level if necessary.

    (C) No service south of Chambers St/WTC. Trains either use the (E) terminal or the middle track to reverse.

    (G) No service south of Bedford - Nostrand.

(J)(Z) Increased service. The last stop on some northbound trains is Cypress Hills or 111 St.

    (M) No service between 2 Av and Myrtle Av.

    NEXT

All stations named 23 St in Manhattan are closed and impassable. The express tracks can be used normally, however.

    Affected:

    23 St (C)(E)

    23 St (1)

    23 St (F)(M)

    23 St (N)(R)

    23 St (6)

Take tph into account when rerouting.

  6. (B)

via the (D) Grand St to Coney Island (West End Local)

    (Q)

via the (N) Canal St to Kings Hwy (Sea Beach Local)

    (F)

via Culver Local to Kings Hwy

The (Q) would have to run via the (R) on 4 Av, since (B)+ (D)+ (N)+ (Q) = 32 tph, which is over capacity.

Are you sure they merge, because I am sure all that happens is that there is a switch track that allows the (Q) to go Brighton Local.

Well, they merge in one direction, and split in the other.

    PROSPECT PARK................./--------------------- PARKSIDE AV

    ------------------------------------/----------------------

    ------------------------------------\----------------------

    ..............................................\---------------------

Here's a rough sketch of the tracks used by the B and Q. The other tracks have been omitted.

  7. The express and local merge south of Prospect Park.

The (B)(D)(N)(Q)(R) thing was probably only a few trains, not a long-term change.

    NEXT

Because of a terror threat, all stations named Avenue U are impassable. Nearby express tracks are affected too.

    Impassable:

    Av U (B)(Q)

    Av U (F)

    Av U (N)

  8. By just north, I meant the interlocking that leads into Coney Island.

Couldn't the (D) also turn at Bay 50th (Manhattan-bound platform)?

And @trainguy: Brighton can't handle (B)(D)(N)(Q) all on one track.

  9. Next:

Work on the World Trade Center has knocked out the 8th Avenue line and Broadway-7th Avenue Local south of Chambers Street (the Broadway-7th Avenue express to Brooklyn is unaffected as is the Broadway Line via Montague).

    (A) Trains run via the (F) in both directions between West 4 St and Jay St.

    (C) Suspended. (A) trains make local stops.

    (E) No trains south of Canal St. The last stop on some southbound (E) trains is 34 St - Penn Station.

    (M) No service between Whitehall St (trains from 71 Av run via the (R)) and Broad St (trains from Met Av run via the (J)). Transfer at Canal St.

    (1) Trains run to New Lots Av.

    (2) Trains run local in Manhattan south of 42 St.

    (3) No service south of 14 St.

PS @ Wallyhorse: Why are you so obsessed with sending (C) trains to the Transit Museum? Face it - they won't move all the trains (to where, anyway?) for a temporary disruption.

    NEXT

Work at 7 Av and 53 St disrupts subway service. 7 Av/53 St is closed and impassable, and trains cannot go between 49 St and 57 St on the Broadway Line (assume trains can enter 57 St, but not use the switches south of the station).

  10. Next:

Water main break at 5th Avenue and 14th Street has closed the Union Square (4/5/6/L/N/Q/R) and 6th Avenue (F/L/M) stations and trains can't run into those stations, nor can the B/D run on the express tracks under 6th Avenue. PATH is also affected by this.

PATH All services to 33 St suspended.

    (B) No trains south of 34 St - Herald Sq.

    (D) No trains between 34 St - Herald Sq and 36 St.

    (F) Trains run via the (E) between Roosevelt Av and West 4 St.

    (M) No trains between Broad St and 47/50 St. Trains run via 63 St and use the crossover south of 57 St.

    (L) No trains between 8 Av and 3 Av. Customers advised to use A, C, G, J, M, and Z trains.

    (N) No trains between 34 St - Herald Sq and 36 St.

    (Q) No trains between 34 St - Herald Sq and Whitehall St.

    (R) No trains between 59 St/Lex Av and Canal St.

    (C) Trains run express in Manhattan.

    NEXT

Because of a blackout in the area, Fulton St station is closed and impassable.

    Affected:

    (2)(3)(4)(5)(A)(C)(J)(Z)
