How would the train terminate at Jay Street? There's no switches for it to switch to the opposite track.
Arrive at Jay St, reverse, wrong-rail/single-track to Hoyt St, keep wrong-railing (but without getting in the way of Jay St-bound trains) to the stub track at Lafayette Av, switch to Queens-bound express track, resume service.
Since you didn't post a scenario,
NEXT
Because of a washout, the Broadway Line is out of service at 23 St. Note that you must have all three Broadway services reach Midtown, and all lines in the outer boros must maintain the same level of service. Since this is a long-term change, you may be liberal with service changes. Use 6 and 8 Av to their full potentials.

Trains run in two sections:
......207 St to Chambers St.
......Jay St (Manhattan-bound track) to Queens, every 10 minutes. Jay St-bound trains run local between Euclid Av and Hoyt St. Queens-bound trains run local from Utica Av to Euclid Av.
Additional service runs between B'way Junction and Queens.

Because of a washout, the 8 Av line at 23 St must be taken out of service. Because this is a long-term service change, reroutes can be a bit more drastic than usual. However, NO Transit Museum use, wrong-side Nassau St use, etc.

Capacity is the issue, not even speed of service.
And still, you can't compare

The make fewer stops. Compromises don't work to well in this case.

Technically, with some delays, you can, but I'm not going to debate that...
: Via line to 168th Street, Manhattan.
For service along Queens Boulevard, use the at 7th Avenue.
Why send the to such a faraway place?
Switches between the express and local tracks at Queens Plaza are unusable. In other words, the can't get between the 53 St tunnel and the Queens Blvd local tracks. Remember, this is rush hour on the QBL that we're talking about. You can't have the run express with the .
My solution:
runs via the in both directions between 36 St, Queens and 47/50 Sts, Manhattan.

THIS TAKES PLACE ON A WEEKEND.

I think we should have a separate thread for foam competitions.
ANYWAY...
Both tracks on the TOP level of Queensboro Plaza N/Q/7 are unusable.
Trains single-track through Queensboro Plaza. To accommodate this, some northbound trains terminate at 57 St.
No trains north of 57 St. Some northbound trains terminate at 42 St.
To avoid overcrowding the N, trains run in two sections:
......Main St to 74 St.
......74 St to Times Square, every 15-20 minutes, single-track between Hunterspoint and 33.
NEXT
Because of an incident at 23 St, the uptown local track is not usable.
Please foam as much as possible.

By the train being affected, I assume you mean that it can't use the inner loop at the South Ferry station, and that the Bowling Green station is unaffected? (because you didn't mention the )
terminates at Rector Street
Yes, I meant the inner loop.
As I said above, Rector St's single switch can't handle the 20 tph of the .
shuttle runs between Myrtle Av and Metropolitan Avother section runs between Forest Hills-71 Av and 2 Av
Jamaica Center-Essex St
Why would you break the ? The can terminate at Essex without obstructing the .

You're right.
NEXT
The MTA decides to rebuild its worst stations from scratch. As a result, South Ferry , Chambers St , and 21 St are closed. Note that the SF loop can be used (not the loop station, but the tracks).
1 -
The single switch south of Rector St would not be enough to handle 20tph service.
And I suggested Brooklyn Bridge as that's cheaper for the MTA then sending the all the way to Flatbush Av.
0 -
Even simpler than that NX. Remember when Coney Island was being re-built? The only catch is that both the and the can go to it.
to Neptune/Van Sicklen Av
to Ocean Parkway
B68 provides alternate service
How would the turn around? What about the ?
to Rector St
to New Lots Av
via the Bridge
Canal St to Rector St
How would the turn around? How would New Lots handle the (I assume you mean 5, not 4)? And what would a shuttle accomplish? Passengers can take the 4/5 and transfer at 14th or Atlantic.

The together is around 40 tph. Terminating the in Manhattan won't work, since the three lines will have to cross somewhere.
Since this is a long-term service change, here's what I'd do:
to New Lots Av
local south of 42 St
terminates at 14 St
terminates at Brooklyn Bridge instead of Bowling Green weekends
Runs local on Broadway to avoid switching
Runs via the bridge. If the fit into the 60 St tunnel, they can fit onto the bridge.

Because of low-quality construction, South Ferry station floods. This affects both the new station and the loops.

All I'm trying to say is that a bunch of people thought the stuck would not block 6th AND 8th Av service, but the nycsubway.org diagram shows that it would.
The diagram shows that no matter what, there would still be at least one path for trains to go through. Sure, it may block both regular and regular service, but it's not like no uptown local trains can move through the junction.

It's not going to kawasaki, which is why the contract was put on hold, kawasaki threw a fit. and what the hell are ya'll talking about. after 2009, everything went downhill. all these NTT's suck ass, they fail on spot numerous times. , People who like NTT don't know nothing about real equipment, People who like what MTA is doing don't know anything about a REAL Transit system, they ruined everything.
And yet they have the lowest MBDF of any fleet in the system.
As for 'real equipment': the MTA doesn't cater to foamers. You want some old cars that are about to fall apart, go to a transit museum. Let the MTA provide the equipment that works best for its passengers.

Wait a second. The nycsubway.org map doesn't show anything of this sort. Where did you get this picture?
I made it myself.
But if you look at the nycsubway.org map, that's what it shows:

I think he made it, and the upper level is 8th Avenue, he made a mistake there.Yes, I realized that too late to change it. It's not really significant anyway.
