  1. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you on board. Second, have you tried reaching out to the "higher ups," whose contact information can be viewed here? Finally, if you're still having trouble figuring out what happened, and if you have proof from your friend that he/she was already called to Livingston Street, send me a Private Message (PM) and we'll take it from there. This feature can be found on the top right-hand corner of the webpage. Good luck!!
  2. As far as how much it cost to renew a permit, if I had to take an educated guess, it will probably be a normal transaction fee ($12.50) plus the fees for each and every multiple choice test ($5.00 for each one) if you have to retake them. As far as the second question, if I had to take an educated guess, it probably depends on how busy they are. Although I am not going to the DMV tomorrow, I just played around with this website and there are still appointments available at the three closest DMV locations to my residence in Queens. Good luck!!
  3. During final processing, if you make it that far, they will recommend that you use "vacation" or "time off" or something to that nature. This way, if you happen to fail the 10-Day Training Session, you didn't "burn your bridges" with your current employer.
  4. Interesting. I would make an effort to contact the "higher-ups," see what they have to say, and take it from there. Good luck!!
  5. Mind I ask why were you disqualified? Did you fail the initial 10-Day Training Session? And yes, if this is the case, then you do have to wait five [5] years. Why this is, I don't know. As far as sending in your pre-employment information for MaBSTOA, have you tried reaching out to the "higher ups," whose contact information can be viewed here? It's a shame that they're not even getting back to you as far as why you're not being hired for MaBSTOA, even if the five [5] year rule is in effect. Good luck.
  6. As far as the routes and the types of buses that are used, click here for the locations in Queens. For the other boroughs, there is a link at the top of the webpage for Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island. As far as the culture and/or leadership, I'll let someone who's already a current employee speak on this. As far as the anonymity is concerned, as long as you, yourself, remain anonymous to the fullest extent possible, you're good. After all, if you click here, somebody already revealed the name of the Superintendent who was using the agency's handouts to prepare that group of students for their CDL road test, so if you reveal somebody's name who is a part of the "higher up," don't worry about it.
  7. Once you get used to it, it's not that hard. Just like anything else, it's hard at first, however, over time it becomes second nature. If you want some specifics, send me a Private Message (PM) and we'll take it from there.
  8. They will definitely add those days into your probationary period, now whether you can get married and go on your honeymoon or not during probation is another story in itself...
  9. To make a long story short, fill out this form and send it back to them. Good luck!!
  10. To make a long story short, fill out this form and send it back to them. Good luck!!
  11. I tried doing this in 2014 when I haven't driven anything bigger than a car, and for me, it was overwhelming. Therefore, although I agree with what @RailBus63 is saying, depending on how much time and money you have to spend, even if you get a lesson or two in a big bus at a local driving school or two, preferably with two different instructors, this will be "something better than nothing," especially when it comes to the little bit of experience you need for this, without developing any bad driving habits.
  12. I just sent you a Private Message (PM) in regards to this. If you can send me a reply, I would truly appreciate it.
  13. I would send it to both to be on the safe side, however that's just me. I would e-mail both employmentcenterbuses@nyct.com and the person who sent the invitation, however that's just me. If you already e-mailed them once, there should be no need to e-mail them a second time.
  14. Welcome to the Forums! When you submit the pre-employment documents, you do have to e-mail a copy, or a picture, of your license, social security card and passport. In addition, when they invite you down to 180 Livingston Street, you also have to bring them with you as well. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. -Young
  15. You're welcome. I just sent you a reply to your Private Message (PM).
  16. First, welcome to the Forums! Second, have you tried reaching out to the "higher ups," whose contact information can be viewed here? Finally, if you still feel annoyed, in which you feel like you got (f-word) in more than one way, which seems to be the case, I would type a direct letter to Governor Cuomo, the Federal Transit Administration and Sen. Chuck Schumer. To make a long story short, I also got (f-word) by them as well, and, as a result of reaching out to these folks, not only are they looking into my situation, but I could tell that what I went through will never happen again. The more information you disclose in these letters, the better it will be. (For Gov. Cuomo and the Federal Transit Administration - their mailing address are located at the bottom of the webpages. If you decide to mail the same letter to Sen. Schumer, just make sure you include this Privacy Waiver form as well.) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
  17. That is all correct. Picking depots comes after the initial 10-Day Training Session. And just be "prepared" to go to either Queens or Staten Island, since they will be placing you depending upon where you're needed.
  18. You missed the point...this was about something else.
  19. Can you please check for me? I would truly appreciate it...thanks.
  20. To make a long story short: I don't know what the story is. However, as I look at the Notice of Examination, it says on the bottom of page four that they will begin administering the multiple-choice test for candidates with the lowest random list numbers in January of 2021. I don't know what the "status" of this is, since they normally rent out a public high school on the weekends to administer these qualifying multiple-choice tests, which, from looking at page five of the Notice of Examination, is very similar to a "Civil Service" examination, however we'll see what happens. By the way, what happened to the conversation we were having off of this website? I'm still waiting for your reply...
  21. If you don't have your permit by the time they run your abstract, which I'm assuming will be shortly after you submit your paperwork electronically, your name will be taken off the list. If you wish to have your name put back on the list, you will have to restore your name back to the list. See the information I posted within the green announcement box located at the top of this webpage for more information on how to do so. The instructions for this are located within the green announcement box, which is located at the very top of this webpage. Several people have asked about this, therefore, to make things a lot easier, I simply posted the information there.
  22. Click here to find a location. From my experience, I would just call ahead to make sure the DOT physician is in. Depending on where you live, there might be one available at your local CityMD (click here for a list of their locations). I agree. The last time I had one done, they didn't even do a "full" medical. They asked you for your height, weight, checked your vision using the snellen eye chart, took your blood pressure, checked your sugar via your urine, you chatted with the physician assistant, and that was pretty much it! And the second-to-last time I had this done at a different location, it was pretty basic as well. Although the top of the second page of the Notice of Examination states that "your motor vehicle license ... must have been valid in the State of New York for at least three years immediately prior to the date you are appointed to the position," I would keep an eye out on this webpage for the next Bus Operator Exam, in which I would encourage you to apply and see what happens. In addition, if they extend the termination date of the list one more year to November of 2024, compared to November of 2023, you can always restore your name to the list, and see what happens from there. Good luck everyone!!
  23. Have you tried reaching out to the "higher ups," whose contact information can be viewed here? And yes, as per the "Civil Service" Rules and Regulations, you can restore your name back to the list a maximum of three [3] times. The list for 9604 doesn't expire until November of 2023, so you're good for the time being. Good luck!!
  24. First of all, as per the guidelines, if you can refrain from "bumping topics," it would be appreciated. After all, you made three [3] consecutive posts in this topic within three calendar days, so just try to be careful in the future. I do not have the phone number handy, however, to make a long story short, they will ask you to fill out this PDF packet, which you can save on your desktop/laptop/tablet, and e-mail it back to employmentcenterbuses@nyct.com or employmentcenter@nyct.com. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, preferably in one post, compared to three posts. Thanks!
