  1. Interesting...as they say, "treat others the way you want to be treated." That's just me. By the way, welcome to the Forums!!
  2. First, Congrats!! So you made the December 31st class and January 3rd, three days after you got hired, you had "union day," and the following day you reported to Castleton? Did you have to complete the 10-Day Bus Operator Training Session or no? From what myself and other went through, this sounds "awkward," however that's just me... Again, Congrats!!
  3. According to https://www.facebook.com/groups/mtabus/posts/6934369786632834/?comment_id=6934493363287143: "Stuck brake on 484, they discharged at 47/50 to troubleshoot the issue and are now announcing that the rest of the runs are cancelled…presumably in an attempt to get everyone to leave."
  4. Probably and most likely not. Somebody mentioned on Facebook the word "smoke," which isn't good to begin with.
  5. According to https://www.facebook.com/nytransitmuseum/posts/pfbid027KgNpqb2RAr2PywzFFKgvG7H4KMk4jXdiijNL1EvRV45vJJMruvzq9Q7PR7J8TpKl: "Due to mechanical difficulties, the remaining Holiday Nostalgia Rides have been cancelled. Thank you to all who joined us for this season's rides. We look forward to seeing you again in 2024." Anybody have any insight as far as what happened? Thanks in advance... Happy New Year!!
  6. I agree 100% because, as I learned the hard way, without the applicant's knowledge, the agency will produce a "memorandum" as you can see below, in which the last line, with the exception of a typographical error states "Comments on overall performance either indicate consideration for rehire in a title other than Bus Operator, if successful in the selection process, are not recommended for rehire in any (other) title." In addition, if I recall correctly, if you fail the 10-Day Bus Operator Training Session, not only is the candidate prohibited from retrying for five [5] calendar years, however, at the same time, you are only eligible to try again for the same agency. As an example, I failed the "TA" Bus Operator Training Session and I received multiple "1-in-3" letters for MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company. I will agree that this is "unfortunate," however, at the same time, it is what it is.
  7. My apologies if I am a little "late" in replying to your post, however, if you check out the Civil Service List Certification webpage, by simply typing "Bus Operator" into the search box, located on the top right hand side of the screen, as of today, the folks at DCAS certified 546 names to the Human Resources Dept. at NYC Transit for the title of "Bus Operator." Therefore, providing your name is on this certification, which you can verify yourself by typing your last name into the search box, located on the top right hand side of the screen, hopefully you will hear back from the agency before the end of the calendar year. Good luck!!
  8. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, as of this typing, if you check out the Active Civil Service Webpage List, if you type "3601" into the search box, and put the exam numbers in ascending order, you will see that this particular list has not been published nor established. When this happens, I will try to update the blue announcement box at the top of this webpage as fast as I can. Again, welcome to the Forums!!
  9. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, from my perspective, I'm personally not surprised by this, since it seems that they need people, however, that's just me...
  10. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, what is your current title? I don't understand what "MHB" stands for. Thanks!
  11. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, as per the guidelines, we ask all of our members to "Post In The Relevant Forum." In this case, the forum can be found here. Therefore, if you can please ask your question in the other thread/topic, it would be truly appreciated. Thanks!!
  12. First of all, welcome to the Forums!! Second, as per the guidelines, we ask all members to "Post in the Relevant Forum." In this case, a topic/thread has already been created for the title of Train Operator, which contains over 12,500 posts, which can be found here. Thank you and welcome to the Forums!!
  13. The extra 3,000 + candidates came from the old 2613 Examination, which was administered either in 2012 or 2013. If you check out the Civil Service List Terminated webpage, if you type "2613" into the search box and put the list numbers in descending order, you will see that both of these lists contain 3,621 names. Sorry for the false alarm folks...
  14. K, I just sent you a Private Message (PM). When you get a chance, can you please send me a reply? You should be able to simply click on the "bubble" icon. Thank you!!
  15. Hey, if you can head over to this thread, it would be appreciated. Just scroll to the last post and we'll take it from there. Thanks!!
  16. Hey @Frenchie, did you find me? This is the thread/topic that you are looking for. Offhand, besides Manhattan, which borough are you least familiar with? And, as a new member, do you have access to Private Messaging (PM)? If not, or if you don't know what I'm talking about, let me know and we'll figure something out. Thanks!!
  17. First of all, welcome to the Forums! And yes, you are allowed to ask questions, especially since you are new. As far as the website to study, I would strongly recommend this NYPD Test Prep Kit. Just note that the questions will be geared towards a Bus Operator and not the NYPD. As an example, for the memory portion, you will be given a fictitious picture of a bus route, and for the written comprehension/written expression, it will probably be based on a fictitious "incident" along a bus route. If you still need help preparing for the memorization section, since this is the part that I feel that everyone screws up on, let me know. As far as the eye exam, if I recall correctly, you will have to look into a microscope. You will be able to try once without your glasses and then with your glasses. Finally, mind I ask, do you know the number of the Bus Operator exam that you will be taking? The reason why I am asking is because, as per the guidelines, we ask the members to "Post in the relevant forum," respectively. If you still need help, since I know the Examinations Unit is offering one [1] exam for both the MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Operator positions, just let me know here. Thanks and welcome to the Forums!!
  18. My apologies for "bumping" this thread, however, the filing period is officially open for the next round of TA Bus Operator Exams! If anyone wishes to submit an application, click here and scroll down to where it says "Apply Now." If anyone needs to read the Notice of Examination, which is highly recommended before submitting an application, click here. Good luck!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
  19. According to this post, the member went for his/her first drug test back on July 18th. As a friendly reminder, for those folks in the August 27th and September 10th classes, have you considered looking at the invaluable handouts that I posted? Although some of these "handouts" are geared towards the older Orion buses and not the New Flyer buses which you folks will be using, these documents have helped other people pass the initial 10-Day Training Session. Good luck!!
  20. As per the guidelines of the Forums, especially when it comes to "Bumping Topics," please refrain from doing so. If this continues, further disciplinary action will take place. As a reminder, myself and all of us who post information on this website are volunteers - therefore, please be patient as far as waiting for a reply. Thank you.
