  1. I thought when they were building the new stadium they would modify the station so at least northbound u could exit on the north end as well as the south. Entering on the north end after a game isn't as important, u want to draw crowds away from the stadium to keep it safe. As it is now, it takes so long to get from the north end of the train to the exits that the next is often coming in before all the passengers on the previous one exited the platform, creating unsafe crowding conditions.
  2. Also, the reason the swap happens all at once is cause they do not want two different length equipment running on the line at once, as thats a safety issue.
  3. Yes. It also has a full 6Av program via Bridge going back to the line in Brooklyn.
  4. Yeah I can see a mixture of both ideas, it might go back to ENY, but return to 207 again once its ascertained the cars aren't needed over on the . It might also stay on the as well.
  5. The R42 might stay so it can be retired with the first piece of R179 order (going over to ENY of course). Yes, the swap is ongoing right now, and I took a personal day today (I'm officially on vacation now) so I wouldn't be stuck uptown actually doing the swap. If I didn't take the personal, I'd be there right now doing it, they typically make me work late evenings on my Friday (same with Dan). Ive never seen a R160 on the on the weekend, assuming all the R46 from Jamaica went back there as well, the R160 will disappear from the until next summer (if the swap even occurs again). As far the R44, it went from CCY to 207 (unless a different one was seen), unsure if it made a stop at CIY though.
  6. MTA said they wanted to run service to Flat later in the evening, so they put two more trains back there so there's a good headway going there past 8pm (of course the transit fans and railfans want it to 10pm ideally)
  7. I will not explain the dynamics of the Manny B at this time.
  8. Yup, no reroute for that one, that's why trains are resigned up as 's typically before they hit 59-CC so as not to confuse anyone on the platform.
  9. There are still no timers, just observed speed limits of 25 leaving Brooklyn Bridge and 26 around the S curve at Spring. Some T/O obey, others don't. If a radar gun was spotted in the area (most likely on Canal St plat as the train goes by), most everyone obeys the limit a few days until confidence is rebuilt again.
  10. Yes, I only do it lite (slightly more conservative in service on the ) and need a good train (see: 68A). Take the first timer at 20-22, as soon as it clears (and it will about 1/2 a car away), wrap. You will hit the south end of 155 in the upper 30s and the north end in the lower 40s. Its an adrenaline rush as one WON'T see the 2nd timer clear to green before you past the S, and you have NO VIEW of the associated signal about a carlength into the tube north of 155 until you're about halfway into 155, the best you can see is the light bouncing off the steel dust, with a green hue (meaning the signal cleared). No hue, full service with a halfway decent shot at stopping (I've had to do that when I took the first timer at 25, and I stopped at the entrance to the tube, about a carlength from hitting the signal). As far as 167, I had a good train after touching the mid 50s so I actually climbed the hill down to 30, which was the first time I've done that too (not drop into the 20s). Usually its down in the mid 20's between 22-25 pending on how good the train is.
  11. Coasting up the hill keeps the train at the speed that clears the timer at Franklin. Any kind of wrap after that will bring it up to just a hair over 40. Had me a at 51 at Newkirk today, going up to the yard had it at 54 in the tube coming up into 161.
  12. That's old news. Won't happen until the system is basically ready to go, remember how late in the game R42/R40M's ran on the .
  13. Actually considering hanging up the posts and saying goodbye.
  14. It just could be some sort of holding pattern until its ready to go up to 207, possibly for a SMS.
  15. as to why 6av trains were going down 8av, signal problem at 7av.
  16. For that number, he just quoted me the other day when I stated I get up to 47 in a R68. It was one of the better ones I operated, as generally the line train are crap (the ones on the and maintained by CI are better). Actual speed down here is different from perceived speed.
  17. Only in rush hour. BTW, the Franklin - Utica on the IRT isn't that quick, its only around 40-42 depending on the train in either direction.
  18. No. They must remain in the middle of the train where there is a black and white stripped board which indicates the train is fully in the station. It is the closest cab, and we are trained how to cross between cars safely
  19. Cross over to the other side in an adjacent car. Check out a R32 and ride in the conductor's cars.
  20. I remember when I had the 42 the other day I made a connection at Jay to an with a 46.
