  1. You're talking 50 year old trains when A/C was in its infancy (even though I'm sure the compressors have been rehabbed continously) vs probably better technology on newer equipment.
  2. Its funny how people on here think something happening in one part of the system is the result of something occuring elsewhere, and have no idea of how independently each line and facility is run. It really is a bunch of completely separate lines in terms of management and related personnel, it just happens the services share trackage.
  3. It's one thing for a reroute, its another for that to be regular service. I still highly doubt a will ever happen.
  4. The R68/A setup for the works because the barn on either end is built to handle such cars.
  5. Just a random thought, there will be a R68A running around out there this weekend.
  6. That's exactly what I was going to say, just enjoy the summer instead of busting brains trying to see something unusual or predicting or expecting something crazy. If something happens, it will sure be leaked.
  7. The problem with the down there is that stop is in the middle of everything. Also, its counterparts on 8Av/6Av/Bway all have two locals running at that point during the day. Even though its frequency is high, its fits fewer people per train then its counterparts on the other trunks. The second problem is that unlike its Lex local counterpart where there are heavy stations below GC, the local stations below 34 has light ridership (less real estate to cover being that it has services on either side of it a crosstown block away), and often trains get to 34 white hot if the crew operation is even of average speed. Still, TA will not add extra trains on that line just because of two stations. I always wondered if it was better to have the express-local setup at 34 be the regular two islands for 7Av service instead of two sides and one island because of this. I understand on 7Av/8Av why its was created this way, but there isn't any kind of problems over on 6Av, which has two island express/local setups three stations in a row.
  8. Northbound expresses stop at 161 and 167 pre-Yankee games, then resume express service after 167. No, there's too much service on the CPW corridor for them to enter on the local track at 145 and stop at 155 too.
  9. The bulletin (rule addendum) actually says extreme temperatures (and above ground), but there are some @#$% supervision that thinks it should be all times regardless of temperatures and make their own rules. When the temps were in the 60s or 70s roughly, I left the entire train open as a C/R. Common sense was supposed to be used in these cases, but you and I both know common sense is the last thing on TA's mind. It is also not supposed to be done in rush hours as well as underground (discretion to be used), but of course there's those numnut TD/TSS's again who insist on it no matter where and when. I remember when as a C/R my train pulls in, and its the only one there, I leave them open. Only to be told halfway back to the crew room to partial close the doors. By time I get back there and do it, the lights go on for the train to leave again... SMH.
  10. It happens more during the AM rush, and only occasionally during the PM rush, more the first two than the last three or so.
  11. We are not allowed to have any electronic devices in plain sight while on duty. Courtesy is generally extended to lunch or break times, but if they want to be hardlined it can extend from the time we sign in to the time we sign out. No cell phones or any electronic media in sight, whether we're in the performance of our duties or not. Railroads are even stricter when it comes to this.
  12. Its not a noobish question because I always posted in text, not pictures. First time with the pics. I did a Shuttle program in the R46 tonite when I went to drop out at Euclid, looked unique. Another random thought, the official subway map (MTA's website) now has included Atlantic Av-Barclays Center. Pacific Street has gone the way of Lawrence St and Broadway-Nassau...
  13. Sometimes, there aren't enough R46 (BO trains, etc) and therefore makeshift R32s from the spares must run. Just to note that these cars weren't taken from service, just spare cars were used to make up a train or two.
  14. I cant seem to get my pics uploaded of those SAS R160 programs Only on my comp at the moment
  15. The 2AV programs for the are indeed in the tod... Ill program one in tonite...
  16. Probably, along with the and Grand St at Bleecker. There was a 142A set out there on the that did that too, but I think they got to that one.
  17. That same consist would also announce the if it happened to stop at 51st between 6am-12am.
  18. Well one can say the run from 4Av-Church is "culver exp" lol.
  19. I still have no idea why the IRT west side runs 12 min headways on weekend, and it was a big brewhaha when the BMT/IND went from 8-10 mins. They don't dare do that to the except early mornings and evenings once the shoppers go home.
  20. As with what happened yesterday... with a twist. On a Friday night, a fire destroyed some of the signal equipment on the southbound side of the Brighton between Church and Prospect. Both local and express tracks are out, the northbound tracks are also OOS due to power being off across the grid in the area (Prospect Park to Kings Highway). There are a couple B's (north of Brighton) and a couple Q's (north of Stillwell) in the area. The weekend GO shutting down the West End s/b will go into effect soon. There are four R's still have to get back into CIY. What do you do?
  21. A fire destroyed some signal-related equipment in the area of Church/Beverly. Absolute blocks had to be setup between Parkside and Cortelyou. There was an uptown B stuck on the express track for hours.
  22. There was a fire over on the brighton in the area of Church Av-Beverly Rd which destroyed some signal-related equipment in the area. The road went to hell, literally.
  23. There are no crossovers after Morris Park. When anything major happens along the line, the line gets shut down and after awhile, shuttle buses appear.
