Why bother when any conversation started on here turns into that discussion anyway? Look at the past few pages, its everyone doing it. -

The 1700s were the original NGs and were built in such a way that when they go over the bumps and are on roads that aren't paved so well, you really feel it. Most of us like that in a bus, but some people just complain needlessly about it. But hey, you wanna be on a V that breaks down in the middle of your trip, be my guest. -
lol, I completely forgot about that.

Yeah John, you better stop calling the 1700s so crappy or you may end up on broken down Vs all the time this summer. -
From 0:05 to 0:08 in this video, does anyone know what LIRR station that is?

Shoulda posted this photo weeks ago when I took it. The new fare sticker on the 1700s (Notice how the Vs have different new stickers because of the ownership of the buses): -

Here's the thread where 1542 was auctioned off, and I'm sure I double checked those lists: http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/35849-retired-nice-buses/ I can't seem to find the old auction pages because they seem to be hidden or removed, but if you read through the thread, the buses were sitting on the side of Mitchel Field under LIB and not in service at the time. What I'm thinking now is that the auction didn't go as planned (maybe non-paying bidder or NICE decided to keep the buses at the end), and NICE probably kept the bus. However, none of us were informed if that happened. AGAIN, I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED. As it is, we don't know if each auction goes through successfully and the bidder pays and the bus is out of NICE. We can really just assume that until its officially off NICE property. -

Unless the buses are being renumbered again by NICE, 1542 was one of the first buses auctioned off by NICE at the beginning of last year. It never operated under NICE and just sat in the Mitchel Field lot at LIB. -

I know the wraps were on some of the 1600s, so they weren't scrapped. Not sure if the Coke wraps are still on or if they've been replaced or were taken off. I don't see Vs too often on Northern Blvd. -

Anyone ever see the Adelphi University wraps on the Orion Vs? Wasn't done recently because this video shows 1542 that was auctioned off, but I never saw that ad wrap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB0kO8D4cFo -
Nassau Inter-County Express Bus Repaint/wrapped Roster

Oh, thats the bus that slammed in to the house in Hempstead. I'm not sure if it has entered service yet. Buses that are involved in major accidents that require investigation (like where someone is killed or the bus smashed into the house) are kept within Nassau County until the investigation is finished. Where exactly, I'm not sure, probably a big lot somewhere for impounded vehicles. With 1756, the investigation is over and I believe it is in repair, currently in NICE's hands. -

NICE does not offer full time to new drivers. Seniority is where you choose to work full time. New drivers fresh out of training have that maximum of 25 hours a week, get no benefits, and you're getting $15 an hour. Anything else, you have to be working there for a while before you get anything more. You're not even guaranteed to be eventually promoted to full time. NICE doesn't know how long you'll be a part timer because of the $$$ situation. -

The only thing you can really blame NICE/Veolia for are early buses where drivers should know when they're ahead of schedule and stop. Late buses is easily because of Nassau with unsyncronized lights and the fact that a bus priority system isn't in place yet. Buses not showing up is because NICE is low on drivers and what buses show up depends on the picks each driver takes. But thats not NICE's fault. NICE wants to hire, but nobody is applying because of the wage and the benefits that aren't that good. And what NICE offers to their employees isn't their fault because that depends on the money Nassau County provides. Remember everyone, there is a difference between blaming Nassau County and blaming NICE/Veolia. Also, had Nassau paid the what they wanted, we wouldn't see the expected service improvements that are happening now. The money the wanted was to run the system the way it was in 2011. For the time being, if Nassau can offer more for NICE employees to hire more drivers and implement a bus priority traffic system, we're in a much better state than with the . And that means a lot considering we're all fans of the here. Training, too, is something else to think about because the trains their drivers probably the best out of any other system in the country. -

Really? You're really gonna make this another vs Veolia conversation. Understand that if Nassau isn't going to spend the money, you're not gonna get the back. Also understand that Solages has no power over Mangano to completely change the system. For now, Veolia is doing more than the did. You can't blame them if they're low on drivers and nobody applies. However, your precious LIBRU and their little campaigns find every little thing to bitch about. -

Oh man, if the used lowercase letters on their signs, people on here would throw a fit. That is a cool lowercase 'q' though, looks different but not so bad. -

I'm really starting to like NICE's public relations, especially on their Facebook. Not only do they keep in contact with me well, but if you have a smartphone, you get the service alerts faster there than you do on their site. They're also starting little campaigns here and there to kinda boost bus service morale. This is the first of what is supposed to be a YouTube campaign: 3G FOAM! -

If you're talking about the upper panel in that small picture, behind it is the emergency fuel shutoff valve. Say if the bus was on fire or something, you could turn it off with that switch. There have been stories in the news including some of New York City's buses where morons would just open the panel, flip the switch and run away for no reason at all. Perfect example: http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Vandals-halt-some-hybrid-buses-in-Hunters-Point-3223980.php Very possible, I didn't even think about that.
