MTA NYCT: South Bklyn 7/7/09

About three weeks ago, I released photos of the MTA Bus side while on a solo busfanning trip in Brooklyn. Well, I finally stopped being lazy and completed uploading the NYCT side of my trip.

I haven't seen this thin-letter font on a bus since the PBL days!

The zooms on the signs is due to my fascination of the bus signs since I was a little kid and my like for the mysterious typography on the Luminator signs. For a while, I've been trying to design a typeface from the letters, numbers, and punctuation based off these signs (thin type ranging from 5-pixel to 8-pixel; thick font from 5-pixel to 16-pixel), and I'm taking close pictures of the font so I could replicate them exactly the way you see them. Once I'm done creating the typography, I'll be releasing it on the forum.

LOL! Glad you like the photos. And, yeah, the flip-dots ARE interesting, especially the older ones and the Luminators from 1994 to about 2003. Gives me a reason to see specific-sized fonts (like thin six-pixel fonts) that I haven't seen since the side-window flipdots on the private bus lines.
