Which Subway Station Entrances Do You Think Are Nicest?

Recommended Posts

I also like the sidewalk level entrances to 181st Street (A) located on Overlook Terrace at West 184th Street; 190th Street-Overlook Terrace (A) located on Bennett Avenue at West 190th Street and 191st Street (1) located on Broadway at West 191st Street.

I forgot about the 135th Street entrance on Saint Nicholas Avenue (:((C).

Honorable mention:

Ninth Avenue (D)(M)

Agreed. 181st and 190th on the (A) and 191st on the (1) boast by far and away the most unique entrances in the system.

Other favorites of mine:

(7)<7> Eastern entrance to Grand Central (really long escalator exit out onto 42nd Street near 3rd Ave)

(2)(3) Wall Street, one exit has one of those underground Barber shops.

Bowling Green (the old headhouse)

72 St/Bway (the old headhouse)

51 St/Lex (beige tiled entrances, not the hideous art-deco thing)

Astor Pl Uptown (6)

Dyre Line (former NYW&B railroad stationhouses)

Northernmost stations on the (A)

77 St (R) (the one original BMT entrance unique to the 4 Av Line, it is the only one of its kind left)
