SpaceShipTwo, a privately funded spacecraft, is slated for rollout in the Mojave Desert after five years of secret development. "We've all been patiently waiting to see exactly what the vehicle is going to look like," said Peter Cheney, 63, of Seattle, one of about 300 would-be space travelers who shelled out $200,000 for a ticket or placed a deposit for the chance to float in zerogravity. The suborbital rides are being marketed by Virgin Galactic, which promised a "theatrical unveil" of the 60-foot-long spacecraft followed by a cocktail party for passengers and VIPs.
