I have some good walkie talkies with a 10 mile range and I was wondering, if I was on a train or at GCT would I be able to listen to their radios? I've see sone railfan videos on YouTube where some uses a walkie talkie to listen to Amtrak radios while on a train.

I can tell you if you have good radios if you post a photo, because need to know if there VHF or UHF (100 band or 400 band).

Of course it isn't. I have been listening to scanners for over 10 years. Mainly I listen to FDNY, NYPD and MTA Bus/NYCT Bus. I listen at home. I never take my radio outside.

When I was younger me and my cousin had a radio shack scanner and we heard everything, primarily ambulance calls.Imagine if you did have a walkie where you can speak to all agencies,it would be chaos for example....

Air traffic control:"You are clear for landing"

You:I am corholio!!!!!! I need TP for me Bunghoooolllllle!!!!:):P:P

Subway control tower:We are switching over to the express track

You:Thats what she said!!!:)
