TwoTimer Posted July 22, 2010 Share #26 Posted July 22, 2010 There are no northbound baseball specials, only southbound to Bowling Green, and OoS back north. A few TD/s were arguing how they can have baseball specials going around the green when the is going around the green as well. A lot of congestion trying to get into Brooklyn. Solution:Turn them at Utica.Less congestion. And then it would really be a baseball special.
TwoTimer Posted July 23, 2010 Share #28 Posted July 23, 2010 You dont have to tell me that, that's what they were arguing, there's relay personnel to help clean the train out and everything too, unlike at Bowling Green. And this GO is going to run right through August and there are going to be a lot of weekend games at the stadium. Its one thing to have them down there with 12 min headway (5)'s, its another thing to have em going down there with 6 min headway (4)'s AND 8 min headway (6)s
Pelham Bay Dave Posted July 25, 2010 Share #29 Posted July 25, 2010 Well this G.O is not working out on the Line most of the trains are late since the running time is only 1 Hour and being plugged in the Bronx with the construction projects. Today they finally ABD a train from Bowling Green and had everyone leaving 1 Behind which worked as a charm because most could not arrive in time of thier trip back Uptown. Doesn't the 6 get delayed regularly on weekends anyway due to crowding, door holding and other non GO related reasons?
Pelham Bay Dave Posted July 25, 2010 Share #31 Posted July 25, 2010 Trains on the do get hit hard on weekend with customer interference but we stay close to schedule was this go we running 5 to 8 minutes late
TwoTimer Posted July 26, 2010 Share #32 Posted July 26, 2010 the Parkchester split service GO leaves half the trains full, the other half empty on weekends.
GreatOne2k Posted July 26, 2010 Share #33 Posted July 26, 2010 the Parkchester split service GO leaves half the trains full, the other half empty on weekends. What spilt service GO? Unless you mean when some trains terminate at 3 Av (or 125 St) due to construction?
TwoTimer Posted July 26, 2010 Share #34 Posted July 26, 2010 Yes, which is not running right now. It will be up and running again later in the summer if similar work is done to 2 track as was done with 3.
GreatOne2k Posted July 26, 2010 Share #35 Posted July 26, 2010 Yes, which is not running right now. It will be up and running again later in the summer if similar work is done to 2 track as was done with 3. It is already running during middays, which also can leave some trains more crowded than others. There is also the other GO in which all trains terminate at 125 St on both ends (the sometimes does this as well terminating at 125 St)
TwoTimer Posted July 27, 2010 Share #36 Posted July 27, 2010 I was talking about the weekend, when it used to run as well. It always runs middays. Havent seen that late nite GO in quite awhile, the 125th street one.

Havent seen that late nite GO in quite awhile, the 125th street one. The 125th St GO (split service version) has also been done on weekends before as well Do some N/B trains run express to 177 in the morning (some used to go express to Hunts Point when 177 was closed N/:)? Pelham Bay Dave Posted July 27, 2010 Share #38 Posted July 27, 2010 Yes some Parkchester Bound trains run Express from Hunts Point to Parkchester between 9:30AM and 10:30 AM.
GreatOne2k Posted July 27, 2010 Share #39 Posted July 27, 2010 Yes some Parkchester Bound trains run Express from Hunts Point to Parkchester between 9:30AM and 10:30 AM. You think that they would go express from 3 Av to E 177 St since the S/B trains are running local after 9:30am and M track would be free
TwoTimer Posted July 28, 2010 Share #40 Posted July 28, 2010 That was what I thought they wuz going to do with slow ATS moving switches at Park (Hunts Pt is almost just as slow).
Pelham Bay Dave Posted July 29, 2010 Share #41 Posted July 29, 2010 Some Parkchester Bound trains do discharge at 3 AV - 138 Street and run lite to the Yard as well.
Abba Posted July 30, 2010 Author Share #42 Posted July 30, 2010 Ok back to the original post.Maybe Atlantic would be a good terminal for the next few weekends.Since the 4 will not be express, those tracks are open.Anyone agree?

Although in an operation standpoint, it would be a lot easier then clearing it out at Bowling Green, but of course as stated before, the really serves no purpose in Brooklyn as everybody is going to avoid it. But for the next few weekends i think there is an exception to the rule. With no in brooklyn,it can really help a lot by running express. Plus riders won't be frustrated with the terminating of the at Bowling Green. It will just be smooth sailing as they say.Again it's just me that thinks like this.I mean think there is no express service in brooklyn and in manhattan between GC-BB.Does everyone really have to suffer through all that. TwoTimer Posted July 31, 2010 Share #45 Posted July 31, 2010 There's still going to be no express service in Manhattan no matter where the terminates. The reason this is the case is cause the terminates on the NB express track, therefore voiding all reasonable express service south of Grand Central. Trains do not have to be "cleaned" of passengers before going into Bowling Green (or Brooklyn Bridge) loop. They just ride around and back out the other side. (on a side note the old south ferry loop station is still ablaze in light, frozen in time since it closed) Going to Atlantic Ave actually costs more money, as now you're running into crew overtime (cant make 3 trips to Atlantic for 8 hours or slightly more, 2 trips and now you're paying an extra crew), and merging delays in and around Nevins (remember the GOs where it finished at Atlantic last year and the headaces those caused). Not true about the .The is terminating at GC because the is terminating at the "Green".If the were terminating at Brooklyn Bridge, then there would be regular express service this weekend in Manhattan. NX Express Posted August 1, 2010 Share #50 Posted August 1, 2010 Would MTA have , , AND run express on the same tracks from BB to 14 St at regular headways? It might happen, but Bowling Green loop might get backed up. Which brings up another question, would using both loops help?
