Amtrak7 427 Posted August 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2010 Express Service between East 180 St and 3 Av-149 St is RestoredWeekday, AM and PM Rush Hours effective Tuesday, September 7, 2010 through March 2011 • By re-scheduling planned work, express service can be reinstated during this seven month period. • Starting in April 2011, express service will need to be suspended until August 2011. Work on these projects will also cause weekend service changes to occur. How exactly is this a "rescheduling" of planned work, if the original work was to go continuously through Aug 2011 anyway? Maybe people were getting tired of seeing express service in a GO or emergency and realized it could still happen.

Trainmaster5 4,257 Posted August 29, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 29, 2010 I've operated via the express tracks a few times while this long term G.O. has been in effect, as have some trains, so it's no big deal. There was no reason for express service to be canceled for such a long time in the first place.

The Express is known to crawl from Simpson to E 180 St do to the curvyness of the line.
mark1447 685 Posted August 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted August 29, 2010 Even (6)'s fly pass work zone at Witlock at Soundview. The Express is known to crawl from Simpson to E 180 St do to the curvyness of the line. No things start to slow down after 174th st. The train slows down for a bit at Simpson due to it curving from Westchester to Southern blvd but rushes thru Freeman St/Southern Blvd normal. I've operated via the express tracks a few times while this long term G.O. has been in effect, as have some trains, so it's no big deal. There was no reason for express service to be canceled for such a long time in the first place. Well im thinking WPR Exp is suspended due to 180th rehab. Ive been in that station a few times and certain tracks are closed down. So far the Manhattan tracks are closed forcing Manhattan about WPR local service to run on the M track. Shuttle service would relay south of 180th north of tremont.
TwoTimer 762 Posted September 8, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 8, 2010 There was some confusion today though, not even all the crews were aware of the change (long weekend, etc).
