Calvin Posted November 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2010 On the nycsubway.org track map, track 4 leds to the 7 Av line. But, how does 1 and 3 go to track 4 to Jerome yard?
Gorgor Posted November 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2010 Track 3 and track 1 are connected to the downtown track.
IRT Bronx Express Posted November 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2010 So the R62s head downtown, and then turn back via the loop at Brooklyn Bridge?
LRG Posted November 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2010 So the R62s head downtown, and then turn back via the loop at Brooklyn Bridge? In a nutshell, yes.

Calvin Posted November 15, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted November 15, 2010 WTF, seriously? i thought most of the 42 St Shuttle uses the 7 Av line and then the 4 to Jerome Yard
EE Broadway Local Posted November 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted November 15, 2010 No Calvin. The Forty-Second Street Shuttle is part of the original I.R.T., but today Track 4 connects to the Broadway-Seventh Avenue local northbound track, while Tracks 1 and 3 are connected to each other and Track 1 is connected to the Lexington-Fourth Avenue local track (As Gorgor said). If the walkway is lifted, an R62A can go to 240th Street or Unionport Yards, On Track 1, an R62A can go to Livonia Yard, or by using the City Hall Loop to Jerome or Westchester Yard (as Gorgor, IRT Bronx Express and LRG said). TwoTimer Posted November 17, 2010 Share #9 Posted November 17, 2010 4 track on the shuttle goes to the 7av local line . Those cars often turn at 96. The ones on 1 and 3 head to the Lex local line . Those cars go thru to Brooklyn usually. The barn for the shuttles is at Livonia, reason being the one at Mosholu is 142-ready and 142/142a are serviced there. The 142 at Livonia arent even serviced there, they are usually transferred up to 239 or Unionport (East 180 barn).
mark1447 Posted November 17, 2010 Share #10 Posted November 17, 2010 Track 4 connects with Bronx Bound Broadway Line. When you are at 42nd St TSQ, and across over to track 4, that bridge lifts so that the train can go thru. Track 4 R62As can head up to Jackson Avenue M track on the WPR, down the lex/jerome track at 138th Street and head to Jerome Yard. Track 1/3 goes via Lex of course and could use Loop to get to Jerome Ave.

The cars from track 4, can they wrong rail down thru 42nd and use the switches at 34th St? Seems like that would save a lot of time than going all the way north to 96th. I'll ask though even though there's no longer a Tw/O there.
