IMO Rivers or Jerry Sloan are the '2' best choices of those who could replace D'Antoni. Both have reached the NBA Finals couple of times and emphasis defense as well and would wonders on this team.

Still in worst way in the NBA Draft, Knicks need a 'big man' either a center or power forward that is a defensive specialist. A Big man that can get rebounds, block shots and score 10-15 points a game. That more urgent than adding another 'star' like Chris Paul via trade/FA signing right now. A Gasol type of Big Man.

Jerry Sloan would be the best fit for that team. The Knicks need more size and a younger point guard. No disrespect to Chauncy Billups. And they need to service that bench.

The coaches always have some say in these big name acquisitions...

I remember Doc Rivers when he played for the Hawks, w/ Spud in the same backcourt at times.... I wouldn't mind him coachin in NY either... but I don't think he can bring them to championship form; Red Auerbach can resurrect from the dead & he couldn't help this franchise to an NBA title.... you can thank the Dolan's & Isiah for the perennial joke that the knicks have been for the past what, 15 years...

disgustingly enough, this year's knicks will end up makin the playoffs....the pacers suck worse than they do, and they're holding onto the 8th spot... Pacers are 10 games under 500... Out west, Memphis is 7 games over 500, and is holdin down that same spot in the playoff race.... smh @ the eastern conference once again....

exactly why I said "once again"....

I would LMAO if stern got desperate & actually started up a draft just FOR the eastern conference....

or at the least, make a stipulation that each eastern conf. team get 2 picks in the 1st round....

Shifting gears. Another shocker in NCAA Tournment. Kansas Univ. is gone.

The Kansas Jayhawks picked by some and co-favorites w/ Ohio State to win the 2011 NCAA Tournment is gone. They were upset by #11 VCU (Va. Commonwealth Univ) 71-61 and advance to the "Final 4' for 1st time in school history.

VCU joins Ct and another 'cinderella' Butler in Houston in the NCAA Semi-final round.

I am sure those in Vegas and bracket polls across America are stunned.

NCAA is so unpredictable. I would never bet on a NCAA game. The Jayhawks were good, but in NCAA anything can happen. One of my co-workers he bets against top team.

Not to get too off topic but related. That reason John Wooden leading as coach UCLA to '10' NCAA Basketball Titles in his carrer including '7' in a row in the 1960's/early '70's. The '7' college titles in a row is '1' record in all of sports I am 99.9% sure will never be broken pro or college.

Wooden and UCLA in his day had Kareem, Bill Walton all on the same team at one point. Thus now makes Wooden even more of a genuis.

Anyone can look like a genius with those type of players. Hell, Joey Bagofdonuts could be a genius if you gave him: Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitski, & Allen Iverson.

Me either.

This year's trny, there are no number 1 seeds left....

I understand when it comes playoff time in any sport, teams/coaches strongly emphasize defense... but in doing that, I feel a lot of the higher seeded (especially) teams forget how they got to become amongst the upper echelon of teams in the nation...

I don't care much for low scoring games in any sport, but it's somethin that makes it extra aggravating when you see most reg. season NCAA 'ball games ending in the 80 point-per-team range... and teams when they get to the playoffs get so possession oriented, you see games where the final scores are in the 60 point-per team range...

about a 20 point dropoff...

...which makes it much eas(ier) for upsets to occur in the NCAA tournament.

...which makes it (IMO) pointless to bother betting on games on.

Kentucky heads to the Final Four for the 1st time since 1998.

Very true. Also last time they won the championship ('98) as well.

I don't understand why are Ct. and Kentucky playing in one semifinal since they were both top 25 teams all during the regular season? Not to mention they are the '2' highest seeds left.

It should be like the NBA/NHL playoffs in which any remaining teams are *re-seeded* after each round. When we get to the national semffinals all teams should be seeded based on 1)tournment seed 2)regular season record.

If anything Kentucky should be playing VCU in one semifinal. While Ct. should be playing Butler in the other "Final 4' game.

Ct./Kentucky championship game would have been great including in the important TV ratings aspect (NYC/Hartford/Boston)vs one of college basketball most popular teams.

I'm not that big a fan of NCAA basketball and the sport as awhole, but watching these upsets have made this tourney very exciting to watch.

VCU's the first eleventh-seed team to reach the Final Four since 2006 (George Mason University). Butler's the first eighth seed since 2000. I don't use brackets, but no one saw this coming. VCU was quire certain that they won't make the tournament due to its record, and they had to play a PLAY-IN game just to qualify to be one of the sixty-four. Seeing them in the Sweet 16's one thing. For them to make the Final Four's something else. And I love it!

Now, Kentucky vs. UConn's one matchup we could expect. Both teams are very good, and it doesn't surprise me as much. No further comments here.

But no more comment I make is this.

This is the first time since 2006 that no one seeds made the Final Four.

But the last time no one AND two seeds (Kentucky a four seed, UConn a three seed) made the Final Four? 1979.

A little correction. In 1979's Final 4, a #1 seed Indy State featuring future NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird did make the national semifinals. So I thought I make that correction.

FYI. Bird's Indy state lost to Mich State and another future NBA HOF and 'legend' Earvin Magic Johnson in the '79 Title Game.

Back to the NBA. This Knicks update is presented to you by JP Morgan Chase the offical bank of the New York Knicksbockers.:o

In a very low scoring game in middle of 2nd period Knicks lead the Magic as of this writing 35-28. This is a makeup game from earlier in the season when MSG was briefly closed to abestos issues.

The Magic could have easily won that game if they wanted to. They already have the 4 seed locked up. The Magic is my sleeper to make the East. Finals & Finals.

Bro should you not find out the matchup/playoff seeding before you make a pick? In the NBA East almost anyone except the #7 and #8 which the Knicks will finish if they hang on can win it.

This years NBA Champion IMO will be the Spurs/Lakers West Final Match-up.

Bro, I been watching the NBA for a long time. I can make my picks. The Spurs will not it to the West Finals. With Parker not 100%, Duncan(Out Indefinitely), the Spurs will be lucky to get out of the 2nd round. And how the seeding looks, it looks like they will play the Grizzles in the 1st round. They are a very hard team that the elite teams have a hard time playing.

There are only 3 teams that can make it to the East Finals. They are the Bulls, Celtics, Magic. The reason im not adding the Heat is because they play too fast for them to be effective in the playoffs. Anything under the 4 seed has no chance in the East.

The Spurs are on a 4 game losing streak and the Lakers are just 3.5 games behind who are 15-1 since the All-Star break. For the Spurs to stay #1 they have to go 6-2 the rest of the way and I dont see that happening because they play the Lakers the last week of the season.

553 you probably know more about the current NBA in 2011 than me. With that said, I said either the Lakers or Spurs west winner will likely hold the crown in June.

Spurs had a great season but like the Celtics this crew of Parker, Duncan clocks are almost over. This is SA last chance with this group that won it all in 2003 and 2005.

If you watch a Spurs game you will see exactly why they wont make it, and it has shown the last 4 games they lost. Trying to get the best record only hurts you in the end.

Shifting to business side of the NBA. The Kings are 'this close' from leaving the captial city of Calif and moving to the LA area. Anaheim City Council and Mayor approved funding that will pave the way to move them to the Honda Center home of the NHL Ducks.

There are reports that the Kings will be renamed the Anahiem Royals.

My take is why does LA is on verge of '3' pro Basketball teams? The Clippers rarely sell out as the Lakers neighbors at Staples Center. If anything the Kings should be moving to either '3' former homes of NBA clubs. Seattle, San Diego or Kansas City. Here news clip as some Anaheim Basketballl already stated the LA area does not need '3' teams.

The Kings never should have left Kansas City in the late '80's at all.

Vancouver Canucks clinch the President's Trophy for the first time in franchise history!

http://www.nhl.com/ice/recap.htm?id=2010021158

That good to hear. With that said, how many people remember the President's Cup aka Regular Season Champions in the NHL or any other major sport(except for NCAA College Football)for that matter? *Correct me if I am wrong* but The Last regular season champs aka #1 seed to win the cup was the 1994 Rangers.

As I stated the Canucks will be under heavy pressure to win it all. Maybe the most pressure of any pro club in North America making the playoffs since the 2004 Boston Red Sox to bring 'home' the Cup back to Canada.

I am sure Hockey Night in Canada Commentator Don Cherry will slap them on the face if they fall short.

The logical move for the Kings would've been San Diego, but that would've made too much sense. Los Angeles doesn't even need two teams, let alone 3. And why does a city the size of Seattle still lack a basketball team? No offense to Oklahoma City, but that city doesn't seem important enough to warrant having a basketball franchise.
