4P3607 Posted February 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2011 I know these cars have the SMEE propulsion: -R32 -R38 (also sounded a bit like R46) -R40 (also sounded a bit like R46) -R42 -R44 -R62A -R68/A I dont know if that answers your question... Roadcruiser1 Posted February 11, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2011 Sorry the R21's and cars with that are all at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean at the Redbird Reef. Here is a picture of their fate.
Joe Posted February 11, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 11, 2011 I mean like a r21 compresser There's no compressor with the designation "R21". You can, however, check the datasheets on nycsubway.org.

rr4567 Posted February 11, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2011 Ive always wanted to ask:what does "SMEE" mean? Straight Air Motor Car Electric-Pneumatic Emergency http://www.nycsubway.org/cars/irt_smee_fleet.html
Joe Posted February 11, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 11, 2011 Straight-air Motor car (with) Emergency (and) Electro-pneumatic It's just a designation of an air-brake system. Contrasts with AMUE (Arnines, Lo-Vs, etc...) and AMRE (Hi-Vs, etc.).
Fresh Pond Posted February 11, 2011 Share #10 Posted February 11, 2011 Wirelessly posted via (BlackBerry8520/5.0.0.900 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100) In a nutshell, every car class from R10-R42 can technically run with each other and still run properly but for obvious reasons, some weren't exercised Another question, althought the R44 & R46 is still technically a SMEE car, why can they run with their SMEE counterparts? Its something about bthe brake pressure being higher but im not completely sure
Joe Posted February 11, 2011 Share #11 Posted February 11, 2011 The brake pipe on R44 equipment is 130lbs whereas on a "normal" SMEE, it's 110lbs.

Joe Posted February 11, 2011 Share #22 Posted February 11, 2011 The piping of a D3 compressor is much different than of a D4 compressor. For starters, the mounting is completely different and there are issues with the intercooler as well.

Joe Posted February 11, 2011 Share #24 Posted February 11, 2011 Interestingly enough, Lo-V 5466 has a D4s compressor on it. Sounds quite odd compared to the rest of the Lo-Vs...almost like a D3 on speed. Going to be a bit of work to put a D2EG back on it. For extra credit...who knows what the "EG" stands for? SMEE is a braking system not a propulsion I mean like a r21 compresser Nope, all cars with the 2CY type compressor found on the R21s have been retired
