(N) Broadway Local via Whitehall

(B) suspended

(D) runs in two sections :

Due to work on the SB Broadway Express (57 St-Canal St), and on the Manhattan Bridge SB, trains must be rerouted. Here's the catch; Only 2 lines can use the Broadway Local. Reroute away.

Here goes:

(B) runs 24/7 and replaces the (Q) as the Brighton local to Coney Island.

Nights Only: (B) terminates at Columbus Circle on the express tracks.

(D) stops at 72nd Street-Central Park West and then runs express via regular route.

(N) and (R) are local in both directions in Manhattan and operate via the tunnel at all times.

(Q) is suspended

Special single track shuttle train operates on the northbound express track between Canal Street-Broadway and 34th Street.

Also, as a note, the (E) & (F) are 12 TPH, not 15. The 6th & 8th Avenue locals would be too frequent.

The schedule says they're both "every 4-6 minutes". That would imply that at the peak, each is every 4 minutes, or 15tph.

How would the locals be too frequent? 25tph ((F) + (M)) or 21tph ((C) + (E)) isn't that frequent.

Since, nobody has posted a scenario,

The entire upper level of 50th Street station on 8th Avenue is impassible. This affects the (A)(C), but the (E) is fine.

(A) operates via the (D) to West 4th and (F) to Jay Street. For Chambers-WTC, transfer to the (E) at 7th Avenue.

(B) operates seven days a week and replaces the (C) on weekends along Central Park West.

(C) operates from Chambers Street (A) platform to Euclid Avenue, including overnights during this time. Overnights, (C) is extended to Lefferts Boulevard, replacing the overnight (A) shuttle during this emergency.

All other service runs normal.

Next:

Due to a problem at the south end of Whitehall Street, the train entrance to the Montauge Street tunnel is unusable and trains can only use the middle track to change over and can not have passengers in the station. This does not affect the Nassau Street line, which CAN use the tunnel.

Also, at the same time, a water main break at West Broadway and Canal Street makes both the 7th and 8th Avenue lines unusable in the area.

I approve of you solution, although there's no need extend the (C) to Lefferts because that area is completely unaffected.

Now my solution for your scenario:

(R) runs in 2 sections: Queens to Whitehall Street - Jay Street to Bay Ridge

----

NEXT:

The lower levels of both 7th Avenue (B)(D)(E) and 5th Avenue (E)(M) are impassible.

Lower level of 7th Avenue = NORTHBOUND B/D and QUEENSBOUND E

Lower level of 5th Avenue = QUEENSBOUND E/M

If you want us to extend (J)/(Z) service to 95th Street, then hell no, that ain't happenning.

(R): Via bridge, use nearby (4) stations for service.

______________

(1): Terminates at 14th Street, express 14th-34th Street. For local service use single tracking (1) shuttle b/w 42nd Street & 14th Street.

(2): 42nd Street-241st Street

(3): Suspended, use (4) & free shuttle buses for service.

(A): 34th Street-207th Street & Jay Street-Queens

(C): To Second Avenue with reduced TPH

(E): 34th Street-Queens

Next: There is a sinkhole from 33 to 38 streets from Lexington to 7 th Avenue, Reroute everything, even buses

Okay, I don't feel like doing the buses...But trains:

(B) Coney Island - W 4 St

(D) runs in two sections; 205 St - 2 Av (F) station via 8 Av local, Coney Island - W 4 St

(F) runs in two sections; Jamaica-179 St - 47-50 Sts, Coney Island - Delancey St

(M) runs via 8 Av local

(E) runs via 8 Av express

(1) 242 St - 96 St; trains skip 103 St, 110 St, 116 St, and 125 St.

(2) 241 St - 96 St

(3) 148 St - 96 St

(1) single-track shuttle trains run between 96 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle (for transfer to (A)(C)(D))

(4) runs in two sections; New Lots Av - Brooklyn Bridge, local between Utica Av and Atlantic Av, Woodlawn - Grand Central-42 St (uptown trains run local from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St)

(5) Dyre Av - 125 St

(6) Pelham Bay Park - Grand Central-42 St

(N) runs in two sections; Coney Island - Atlantic Av, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd - 57 St/7 Av

(Q) suspended

(R) runs in two sections; 95 St - Whitehall St, 71 Av - 57 St/7 Av

(N) special single-track shuttle trains run between Canal St and 28 St

Whew! That was hard.

Next: There is a sinkhole from 33 to 38 streets from Lexington to 7 th Avenue, Reroute everything, even buses

Oh wow! I guess this means 8th av will be EXTREMELY BUSY. Good scheduling and signaling will be VITAL.

(A) Same

(C) suspended.

(B) via 8th av (express) will run as Brighton Local to Coney Island, replacing the (Q). Will resume local after 59th st.

(D) via 8th av (express). Will run as 4th av express to Coney Island.

Both trains switch at West 4th st.

(E) extended to Euclid Av, local replacing the (C).

(F) 8th Av local. Switches at W4th st and goes to Queens via 53st (along (E)).

So yes, this means 3 express trains from w4th st to 59th st. Gonna be problematic, and slow, but it has to happen.

*****As an alternative, suspend theE and have either the R or G go to Jamaica Center..they can transfer to the (F) for express service. You can now have the B run local over 8th av. The A will then have to run local in Brooklyn.

There will be a special (S) that goes from 42st (6th av line) through the 63st tunnel to Queensbridge and Roosevelt Island

(G) Continental AV- Church Av to help out Queens BLVD.

(J) extended to Bay Ridge to replace (R) (like after 2001), all local. Either that or have a brown M train.

(L) same--gonna be CRUSH LOADED with people making transfers.

(M) 14th st-Metropolitan AV

(N) Astoria-Times Square, 14th st-Coney Island, local via Whitehall

(Q)Suspended

(R) 71 Continental-Times Square, local, with increased service.

(S) 42nd St shuttle will run 24/7 (3-4 minute intervals)

(1) 242-42st local and 14th st-South Ferry local

(2) 241 st-42 st local and Brooklyn College-14 st local.

(3) suspended

(4) Woodlawn-Grand Central-local, New Lots-Union Square, local.

(5) 241 st/Dyre-Grand Central-express

(6)Pelham Bay -42nd st-local

(7) extra service.

I thought about this deeply and wanted to minimize service interuptions as much as possible.

Didn't do bus service.

Next scenario: Because some guy threw a computer table onto the tracks in a fit of rage, the (A), (C), (E), (B), (D), (F), & (M) lines cannot use West 4th Street on either level because of the ongoing psychiatric evaluation. No trains can enter the station, and switches north or south of the station cannot be used as it would cause too much noise. Reroute away.
