Switches between Canal and Chambers on the 8th Avenue line make it where ALL trains using the tracks to/from the Cranberry Street Tunnel must go through the layup track between those two stations in both directions to reach the other station (The (E) switches to/from Chambers are NOT affected by this) At the same time, a switch at Essex-Delancey on the Nassau Line is stuck to where all trains from the Willamsburg Bridge must go through the 6th Avenue line from there with no access to the rest of the Nassau Street line going downtown.. The center track at Essex can't be used from the Willy B either.

(A) Via Rutgers Street.

(C) Runs in two sections:

Between 168 Street & World Trade Center (E) platform.

Between Chambers Street (A)(C) platform & Brooklyn.

(J)(Z) No service b/w Manhattan & Marcy Avenue. Some trains terminate at Broadway Junction, Cresent Street or Cypress Hills.

lolwut y the switches fail

(A): Via layup track at Chambers Street. Expect delays...

(C): Any trains in Brooklyn travel via the (F) line, any trains in Manhattan travel via the (F) line, any trains b/w W. 4th Street and Jay Street use (A) solution.

NO, I AM NOT SENDING THE (J) TO 168th STREET.

(J) / (Z): Terminate at Hewes Street, layup on center track at Marcy Avenue.

(M): Normal service, extended to late nights.

NEXT: There is a switch problem on the 7th Avenue Line where all uptown and downtown express trains are routed via the layover track between TSQ and 34th Street-Penn. One downtown train cannot run with one uptown train. Avoid a head-on collision and don't go over 30 tph.

The (2) has around 7-8 TPH and the (3) has around 13-15.

Uptown (2) trains run via the (5) between Brooklyn and the Bronx

Uptown (3) trains run via local between 14th Street and 72nd Street

Downtown (2)(3) run normal service via the layover track between 42nd and 34th

(If anything screws up on 7th Avenue, the MTA always runs the (2) via the (5), even during rush hour and there's never any extra delays)

The switch at essex streets are malfunctioning and sending (J) and (Z) trains up to 6th ave what do you do?

(J)(Z) No service b/w Broad Street & Essex Street.

So, this is my first post in the What If? thread which I have been reading all the time....

Time: 5:00 PM (EDT)

"There is a stalled (M) train between Marcy Avenue and Hewes Avenue. What would you do?"

(J)(M)(Z) Via Jamaica Express.

There's actually a way around this without cutting service...

Have all Manhattan-bound (J)/(Z) trains enter on the center track and continue them from there. At the same time, have all Queens-bound (J)/(Z) trains enter on the same track as the (M) does. There's gonna be some delays but it's possible.

Next one...

A (B) train derails in homeball alley (between 135 & 145 if you don't know where at) rendering that whole area impassible. What do you do?

All trains terminate at 125 Street, (A)(D) uses the switch above 59 Street, (B)(C) using the switch above 125 Street.

Sorry, I just get the kick for correcting people.

NASSAU ST.

If it were just the Local tracks northbound, I would just send the (B)(C) on the Express, and let the (A)(D) continue to run on the Bypass.

I thought it might ve been called Nassau Street.....

It would probably block the Concourse entrance....most likely, at least.

Probably. Beacuse right after 135 St, you would have the (A)(B)(C)(D) on the Bypass trying to get to their respective routes. But it should not be that much of a problem, except for the (C) stopping on the Express at 145 St, but it can switch over right after the station.

Any (A)(D) north of 59th terminate at 125th.

Due to switch replacement, the area west of Atlantic Av-Barclays Center (2)(3)(4)(5) is impassible. This is a long-term, planned service change.

Note: trains can still enter Atlantic Av.
