ac1962 Posted December 20, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2011 I was on the bx-9 bus line and i noticed the bus operator had a enclosed partition. Finally! Last time a female bus operator was punched, kicked and dragged out of her seat, because a passenger couldn't get off at a bus stop, which was under construction. Hopefully, they will put the partitions on all lines, stay safe!
mark1447 Posted December 20, 2011 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2011 Are you talking about the door to protect the driver at his seat? The depots with the 2011-2012 LFSAs got them. Not just the Bx9.
ac1962 Posted December 20, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted December 20, 2011 I meant the partition that seperates the bus operator from the passengers.
Future ENY OP Posted December 20, 2011 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2011 I meant the partition that seperates the bus operator from the passengers. That partition you are talking about is used on Greyhound and Bolt Bus. The partition in question being used on the Bx9 protects the driver. Grand Concourse Posted December 20, 2011 Share #6 Posted December 20, 2011 It's too little too late. I mean after the Edwin Thomas murder, they should've at least put those partitions up on all the 'newer' buses. Even now there is just a handful of partitions on the RTSs at Flatbush. Eric B Posted December 21, 2011 Share #8 Posted December 21, 2011 These were actually planned in the 70's, when things were so horrible in the city. Basically, cabs, like on trains.
User Posted December 21, 2011 Share #9 Posted December 21, 2011 I understand that its a much safer idea, but why put cameras and shields on RTS buses that probably won't be around for much longer.
Grand Concourse Posted December 21, 2011 Share #10 Posted December 21, 2011 5000-5200 numbered buses aren't going anywhere. Plus some buses could be testing 'prototypes'.
Acela Express Posted December 21, 2011 Share #11 Posted December 21, 2011 Even now there is just a handful of partitions on the RTSs at Flatbush. The partitions have only been installed on the 5000s at Flatbush. I know a few weeks ago, the GS (General Superintendent) came downstairs during my pullout and handed me a paper which turned out to be a survey for operators in the partition-installed buses. The survey basically asks general questions about the installation and our thoughts.. that's it, and to be submitted to the crew upon clearing.
