overclocked Posted August 21, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2013 I've recently came back from a month and a half trip to Russia. I had great time, especially fanning. I will divide the thread in to three; Trains, subways and surface transit. Passenger rail is cheapest method of long distance transportation. 2nd class car Usual rail travel companion Ufa - Moscow. Arriving at 4:15 at Bugul'ma A 40 minute break in the Ulianovsk, this switcher holds the cars while we get a change of a locomotive. A single section of 2TE10M against main building of this station. More modern locomotive from Adler Hooray for electrification, we are getting a change of a loco. No more smell of the diesel. A visit to the Museum of October railroad. Some Lend-Lease locos World's fastest Diesel-Electric locomotive reached speed only of 271 km/h The whole museum fleet sits on 5 tracks, rather long ones. And I just couldn't resist from getting some shots of VL10 That is it for now. Stay tuned for photos of St. Petersburg and Moscow subways.

realizm Posted August 21, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 21, 2013 Saw it yesterday when you let me in the know, and +1. Pis are looking good. Stay tuned for photos of St. Petersburg and Moscow subways. This is what I'm looking forward to seeing as you have the time. As far as the modernized, state of the art technology incorporated into the signaling apparatus in the Moscow subways, I've seen in a documentary that rapid transit trains can be dispatched in such a way that trains can literally roll into a station every minute. That's incredibly impressive as I cannot recall any other rapid transit network with this sort of capability.
