Today I completed the hiring process I start Monday the 21st 🥳🥳 if wondering my list #141x and cert # was 16x. I also over heard one of the women telling someone that she didn’t know when the next class will be. I’m not sure if their putting a hold on hiring after the march 21st class just updating. Good luck to everyone and hello march 21st class! Hopefully I’m not the only girl 🤞🏾

Congrats!! Looks like we’ll be in the same class.

For the Track Worker Induction, do we wear our boots and bring a book bag as well?

Day 3 (induction) you will for the most part just sit in the auditorium of ps248 and sign in for attendance and watch a few videos and get some track related booklets. You can wear your boots although some people there probably had issues and havn’t received theirs yet.

You can bring a bag if you want, should be a smooth evening. Same thing will go for day 4-5

Always wear your boots, you can bring a bag without straps or a bag that can hide straps.

Thanks brother.. I have a shoulder bag with a strap but I can tuck it in by hiding. There are bags that detach the strap but mine doesn’t so hopefully tucking it in and hiding mine will suffice lol

Yeah no problem, it's just to ensure if you do take it down on the track that it doesn't snag on anything. Some guys will carry silk bags with their equipment with them.

and if you pick a specialist title you get an extra $3 an hour. So you top out at $39 and change.

That sounds great i went in for urine and submitted my paperwork. Still contemplating i currently make 53.75 a hour medical annuity and dental. Been working for my union for 11 years still in the same sign hanging company. Have made minimum 125k year with covid 19. Tough spot I'm in to leave this private union as a signhanger for mta.

Damn thats way better than what a trackworker makes not to change your mind on your decision to make that kind of money as trackworker would require alot of overtime and the way this place moves it would be very disappointing to you

For real. I wouldn’t leave a job like that, personally.

I would rather be a sign hanger at this point in my 5 years as a trackworker to be honest with you

Exactly people hear about all the good things this places use to be key words “use to be” its getting worse and theres no turning back from it

Probably true. I’ve never had a job with nyc transit or LIRR so I can’t really speak about it.

Maybe but I’m sure it will be more than what I make now, so I’m cool with that. I don’t make horrible money. But if I can make anywhere from 75k-100k I’ll be ok with that.

I always tell people it's not how much you make is how much you save.

Yea that wouldnt be a problem making especially if you go capital but to leave a job you currently have making over 100k i would advise anyone to stay where they are
