BM5 via Woodhaven Posted March 30, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2023 https://transbridgelines.com/trans-bridge-lines-to-begin-reservations-april-3 Trans-Bridge will start moving to a reservation only system starting April 3rd, when all riders on the Doylestown/Flemington route will be required to book reservations for the specific bus which they seek to board. Under the current system, riders can buy a mobile ticket or through an NJT ticket window at PABT. The tickets are valid can be used on any one bus at any time within 6 months of purchase. New Reservation System With the new system, riders would have to buy an online reservation for the exact date and time to guarantee a spot on the bus. If plans change, you have a certain amount of time to change your reservation to a later date. The time limit is 30 minutes before bus departure for one-way and round-trip tickets, and 16 hours for commuter passes. Otherwise, the reservation becomes null and void and you lose your money. If you fall under any of the following: Have a reservation for a different (later) trip Do not have any reservation and want to buy a ticket for the next bus out Have a ticket bought from an NJT ticket window Intend on paying with cash You will be classified as a standby rider. Standby riders will not be allowed on the bus until every rider with a reservation is let on first, and then let on if space is available, starting at five minutes from departure time. This means that a person with a reservation could potentially lose out on a seat if they are running late and make it just in time for departure, so all riders with reservation need to get to the stop at least five minutes from departure. -------------------------- While the new reservation system will be in place on the Doylestown route for now, it will expand to the Clinton/Allentown route, Newark Airport service, and Wall Street service in the eventual future. Thoughts on this?
JAzumah Posted March 30, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2023 It's about time. Capacity control allows you to expand and contract capacity as needed. It also improves cash flow for T-B.
553 Bridgeton Posted April 3, 2023 Share #3 Posted April 3, 2023 So if you ride everyday you have to reserve? Send the state buses back and let them use their own buses for that nonsense.

Reservations should only be used on intercity and long distance bus service not for daily commuting.

MNR Beacon Line Posted September 19, 2023 Share #7 Posted September 19, 2023 Speaking of which Ive always been fascinated by the NJT routes that go into Warwick NY. Do they run up there because it's profitable? Does NY pay them any money for it?

Warwick was on the of njt lines from the start, mainly the working class use that line in the peak hours 196/197, outside of that the line is dead past Pompton Lakes. Ringwood P/R and Warwick P/R was power houses pre pandemic now, I can’t say the same.
