Joe Posted December 30, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2008 Anyone care to enlighten as to why they have a train run in two sections?
Luis1985 Posted December 30, 2008 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2008 Anyone care to enlighten as to why they have a train run in two sections? anytime they have the Downtown train run on the lines between 145 St and West 4 St, it has to run into two sections because there is no track switch to make the operate from the 8 Ave line back to the 6 Ave line @ West 4 St. if they wanted to make the go to Coney Island via the lines, it'll have to run on the line either south of West 4 St, or south of Jay St. so instead of making the run on the line, it'll run normal from 205 St to 145 St, local from 145 St to 59 St, then on the lines from 59 St to West 4 St, then on the line to 2 Ave. Customers who need West End Line service must transfer to another train at Broadway-Lafayette St. trains will run local in both directions above West 4 St. (On the other hand, if uptown trains were running on the lines, then it can operate from Coney Island to 205 St without running into 2 sections because it has a switch on the uptown side of the 6 Av Line that'll cross onto the 8 Ave line.) Corrections The is only running local downtown from 145th to W 4th Street but uptown will stop at 14th Street and 23rd Street on the and then it runs it's normal express way
FlushingExpress Posted December 30, 2008 Share #9 Posted December 30, 2008 too bad you will not see an R40 on the D, though it is possible you might see an R68A on the Brooklyn section.
Luis1985 Posted December 31, 2008 Share #10 Posted December 31, 2008 Corrections The is only running local downtown from 145th to W 4th Street but uptown will stop at 14th Street and 23rd Street on the and then it runs it's normal express way not always. everytime i take a train heading uptown during that G.O., it always make all local stops between 59 St and 145 St. i never took it express.
