MattTrain Posted February 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2009 I took photos of Avenue U and Neck Road stations of the Brighton Line , as well as Sheepshead Bay and Kings Highway. I tried to get as much as I can before my camera batteries died. I hope these images are clear, I know they're not that bright because of the cloud, and fighting winds. Photos taken from Thursday, February 12, 2009. Let's begin with Sheepshead Bay. Neck Road Avenue U. And Finally Kings Highway That's it.

MattTrain Posted February 13, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted February 13, 2009 Wonderful pics! Thanks a lot, Curt! Great shots! Now that I look at it, it was a really cloudy + overcast day today...at first I thought your shots were black and white! Yep, it was very cloudy. I had to fight the strong winds too. The sky was a bit too dark for me to take those photos. Maybe I'll take the next shots when it's sunny and there's hardly any cloud cover, thank you. Awesome Thank you very much! Excellent pix, and the color hue is interesting positively, ! Yep, some colors stand out while others don't, in this type of weather, thanks. Nice! Love the new signs! They've just been put up for two weeks now. They'll stay there until the Coney Island Bound platforms of Avenue U and Neck Road are done, then those types of signs will be on the Manhattan side when the opposite platforms undergo renovations. Thanks.

Yeah I know, the only time they would use those signs are in temporary situations such as construction. Having those signs for train information is rather recent, IMO. MattTrain Posted February 19, 2009 Author Share #14 Posted February 19, 2009 This morning, I took additional photographs of Avenue U and Neck Road. Portions of the platforms on the Coney Island Bound side have been demolished so far. Here they are, and thankfully it was a sunny day. Here's Neck Road and Avenue U. Neck Road First Avenue U That's all for now.

MTR Admiralty Posted February 19, 2009 Share #16 Posted February 19, 2009 Great pics! The peeling down of the Coney Island bound platform reminds me of what they did to the IRT Woodlawn line stations two years ago (Bedford Park, Kingsbridge, Burnside...) MattTrain Posted February 20, 2009 Author Share #19 Posted February 20, 2009 Nice! Thank you very much. Great pics! The peeling down of the Coney Island bound platform reminds me of what they did to the IRT Woodlawn line stations two years ago (Bedford Park, Kingsbridge, Burnside...) Well the train had three stations skipped like the ones you mentioned, that was a bit of an inconvenience at that time, not so much for Burnside Avenue express station. Back to topic, the riders having to bypass Avenue U and Neck Road, southbound, well that's not such a big deal since there are two crossunders and one newly built crossover at the north end of Sheepshead Bay so that's not so much of an issue now, the train crews remind passengers every day about this construction project. Nice pics! Thank you so much, buddy! Nice, dude! The construction is really coming along, I just wanna see the new station design! When the platforms are finished, the stairways and passageways leading to and from the platforms should be more sporadic, meaning wider staircases and better platform structure. No more wooden edges at the platforms anymore, that's what one station booth clerk at Avenue U told me. Thanks.

MattTrain Posted February 20, 2009 Author Share #22 Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks, I really hope it's gonna be a more beautiful outdoor station. It should be a better looking station after the project is done in 2010, when both sides are done with renovations, more stairways, and they're not positioned on one small spot. Update looking nice, the Brighton Line seems to be getting into a Subway - Commuter Rail mutt, ! Oh yeah, it's getting there, looks like this part of the project is speeding up. Anyways thanks for your comment.
MattTrain Posted February 20, 2009 Author Share #23 Posted February 20, 2009 I felt like I didn't cover Sheepshead Bay that much since I last checked that out, so here's more photographs from yesterday. I finally have more of the newly built crossover covered. Well everyone knows by now that the ( share the same track going south of Sheepshead Bay. Anyways here are the images.
