Joel Up Front Posted June 1, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2012 I suppose that SMS has helped the R32s... The only thing helping the R42 is... they only run a few at a time. I do wonder what happened with the R142As.

R10 2952 Posted June 4, 2012 Share #11 Posted June 4, 2012 Generally, it seems like most of the fleets' MDBF has changed for the worse, but the most important question is- What the hell is wrong with the R-42s? I mean really, 23,000 miles? They're going to have to perform SMS on those cars or something.
Guest Lance Posted June 4, 2012 Share #12 Posted June 4, 2012 They're 40 years old and were never expected to still be in service. As for an SMS, I think the is waiting to see how the R32s handle with their SMS. If they can lower the currently high spare factor for the R32s, they may be able to send some over to the line and finally put the R42s down. Of course, this is all speculation, so don't read that much into this.
