  1. Update to the LIRR stuff from above: https://new.mta.info/article/lirr-service-changes-starting-november-13 A lot of dicking around with the service levels, in particular with the Ronkonkoma Branch. Lots of gaps including an almost 2 hour gap after 6 PM from Grand Central. All Port Washington AM peak expresses will operate to Penn Station only. Ronkonkoma and Babylon Branches will each see one trip on each branch operate to Atlantic Terminal instead of Grand Central.
  2. If this becomes a norm then it looks like we are truly f**ked. I want to stress the use of the term "at least" here. Part Suspended There is no service in either direction between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards at least through the morning rush hour. What's happening? We are continuing to complete planned work between Manhattan and Queens. Travel Alternatives: For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the or . LIRR is cross-honoring MetroCard/OMNY users between Penn Station/Grand Central & Main St/Jamaica. In Queens, take EFNRW trains or Shuttle Bus Q93 buses. Transfer at 74 St-Broadway/Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av | or Queensboro Plaza Shuttle Bus. For service between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av, take the Q93 bus. In Manhattan, take the (S);, or M34-SBS For 34 St-Hudson Yards, take the M34-SBS. Posted: 10/23/2023 07:34 AM
  3. Service Changes are coming to both Metro North and LIRR, starting with Metro North on October 29th: Metro North https://new.mta.info/document/124251 There are service increases on the Hudson Line, and pretty brutal cuts for the branches of the New Haven Line on weekdays. Hudson Line: Half-hourly diesel frequencies will return for parts of the day on weekends with three round trips restored between Grand Central and Poughkeepsie New Haven Line: (Outbound) The 6:58 AM trip from GCT to Stamford will depart 21 minutes earlier at 6:37 AM. A later alternative is the 7:04 AM train to New Canaan The 5:56 PM trip from GCT to South Norwalk will be eliminated The 11:56 AM trip from Stamford to New Canaan will be eliminated, creating a 2 hour gap Fridays Only - The 5:42 PM Super Express from GCT to New Haven (No Stops to Fairfield) will be discontinued Fridays Only - The 6:08 PM trip from GCT to New Haven and 6:10 PM trip from GCT to Bridgeport will be combined into a 6:12 PM trip Fridays Only - The 6:45 PM trip from GCT to New Haven will be eliminated The 11:01 PM trip from Stamford to Danbury will be eliminated, taking away the last through train from Stamford This creates an approximate 3 hour 24 minute gap along the branch (Inbound) The 6:25 PM trip from New Haven to GCT will be eliminated. The 5:40 PM or 6:44 PM trips are the alternatives The 12:29 PM trip from New Canaan to Stamford will be eliminated, creating a 2 hour gap The 9:17 PM trip from Danbury to Stamford will be eliminated, creating a 3 hour 45 minute gap along the branch Fridays Only - The 6:16 AM and 6:28 AM trips from Bridgeport to GCT will be combined into a 6:21 AM train Fridays Only - The 6:57 AM trip from Bridgeport to GCT will be eliminated Fridays Only - The 7:42 AM trip from New Haven to GCT and the 8:26 AM trip from South Norwalk to GCT will be combined Fridays Only - The 7:55 AM trip from New Haven to GCT will be eliminated Fridays Only - A new 8:24 AM express trip from New Haven to GCT will be added Also, it looks like there are new timetable looks for the Metro North lines. They appear to group the stations at the top of the schedule by zone https://new.mta.info/document/124221 (Hudson Line) https://new.mta.info/document/124226 (Harlem Line) https://new.mta.info/document/124231 (New Haven Line - No Branches) https://new.mta.info/document/124241 (New Canaan Branch) https://new.mta.info/document/124236 (Danbury Branch) https://new.mta.info/document/124246 (Waterbury Branch) LIRR https://new.mta.info/document/124266 From the LIRR Meeting Documents for this month, there will be some changes on the railroad on November 12th. This is in line with the new schedules that will remain in effect until March of 2024. There aren't too many specifics provided, but here is what apparently will happen: Unknown Branch(es) There will be two more AM peak trains operating directly to Atlantic Terminal Babylon Branch One pre-holiday early getaway trip will now operate regularly on weekdays Two PM peak trains will be eliminated Port Washington Branch More AM express service will operate (# of trips unknown) Ronkonkoma Branch Two PM peak trains will be eliminated Woodside, Mineola, Carle Place, Westbury Stations "Adjustments" in weekend service - this appears like it may signal a cut of some sort for Carle Place and Westbury, and could go either way for Woodside and Mineola
  4. In a seemingly interesting addition, the 10B and 10C routes are also included with the S110 under the section "Buses operating Weekdays At Certain Times". However, they link to their current timetables, which indicate more than weekday service. https://sctbus.org/Routes-and-Schedules
  5. The I was on got sent down Crosstown and now has to deal with two issues: Part Suspended There are extremely limited trains running in Queens while we address a switch problem near Queens Plaza. The last stop on northbound trains will be Lexington Av/59 St or Times Sq-42 St. Some northbound trains will run on the line from 57 St-7 Av to 96 St. Some and trains will make local stops in Queens. Listen for onboard announcements to hear if your train will be rerouted. . Posted: 10/16/2023 07:46 AM Part Suspended There are no trains running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs in both directions while we address a signal problem at Nassau Av. As an alternative, take B32, B43 and B62 buses making nearby station stops. Posted: 10/16/2023 08:01 AM
  6. Bad work train. Part Suspended trains are severely disrupted between Manhattan and Brooklyn while we address a mechanical problem on a work train at Grand St. Southbound trains are running on the local track from 59 St-Columbus Circle to W 4 St-Wash Sq, then via the line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Coney Island-Stillwell Av. The last stop on southbound trains will be 2 Av on the . The last stop on some northbound trains will be Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to provide southbound service in Brooklyn. Southbound trains are running express from 125 St to Canal St. Travel Alternatives: For service to Brighton Beach, take the . For southbound stations in Brooklyn, take a southbound or rerouted to Coney Island-Stillwell Av for a northbound . Posted: 10/13/2023 12:51 PM
  7. Proposals for congestion pricing go back decades, even before the actual term was even coined and regularly used. Historically it has been argued as a way to reduce congestion within Manhattan. However it failed to get enough political backing for the longest time. The bit about funding the MTA is a more recent argument that has been used.
  8. Hmm. Interesting.... Trains Rerouted Northbound train reroutes from 3 Av-149 St to E 180 St: will run express. will run local. What's Happening? Trains are delayed while we address a signal malfunction near 135 St. Additional Service Changes: Some northbound trains will run via the line from Nevins St to 149 St-Grand Concourse. The last stop on some northbound trains will be 96 St. Listen to announcements to hear how your train will be rerouted. Travel Alternatives: Take a train for service in Manhattan. Take a train for service in The Bronx. Posted: 10/09/2023 06:49 PM
  9. Sounds like they want people to just stay at their workplace and keep working (*shrugs*). Live to work. Also, less money spend on running the damn thing in the PM. A win-win for SCT and employers . Looking at the S66, it basically goes up to Peconic Bay and then again to Riverhead, then terminating there and laying over. On weekends in particular the layover seems hefty, at 59 minutes. So headed south from the Hospital, you'd have to wait almost another hour? IDK if that's actually how it is or if it was a mistake on their part, but either way, I don't have a problem with the S66 going up there. If anything, it's that ridiculous S80 that needs to kick rocks. You could save a bus that way. That S80 bus I would use to operate a modified version of the 10C, because good luck with that microtransit zone out east. The Downtowns/centers of East Hampton and Montauk alone are not as close as they look on a map, especially during the summers. I still think they dropped the ball with this redesign in many ways, the inconsistency with who and what areas get coverage to me is one of the more infuriating parts. The way they go back on stuff that they promised /initially mentioned are another. Saturday service was initially supposed to go til 10 PM and now they say 9 PM. On top of that, many routes have their last trips much earlier than that (the S92 is an extreme example of that....SMH). Also, apparently timed connections are not guaranteed with all routes at the timed transfer points, based on the legend info on the timetable map. Speaking about the S92, you would think that given the S58 has its last trips at 10 PM from Riverhead, you would at least try to have S92 buses meet the S58 bus out there in Riverhead, but nope. That's one of the few bright spots with this plan. Hated having to go through Riverhead every time because if you missed a bus or had to wait it out, you'd be stuck with some of the other characters waiting out there too. Not to say that they would disappear at all once the transfer point is moved to the LIRR station, but at least you're no longer stuck with them in the middle of nowhere in particular.
  10. Yep. Part Suspended There is no service between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and Jamaica. There is no service between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and Forest Hills-71 Av. What's Happening? Emergency teams are responding to someone who was struck by a train at 75 Av. Updates: The last stop on northbound trains will be Queens Plaza, Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av, or Forest Hills-71 Av. The last stop on some northbound trains will be 57 St-7 Av or Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av. Listen to announcements to hear how your train will operate. Expect delays in both directions because of considerable congestion in Queens. We expect this disruption to last until at least 2:30 PM. Travel Alternatives: For service between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer, consider Q60 buses. For service between Forest Hills-71 Av and Sutphin Blvd, consider Q43 buses. For service to the AirTrain to JFK Airport, take an or train. LIRR is cross-honoring MetroCard holders and OMNY users between Penn Station and Jamaica. Posted: 10/03/2023 02:08 PM

  12. Well we don't know for sure. However if they're scattered across the system on many routes like the 2A/2B, 6A, 7A, 7B, S20, S25, S29, S42, S56, S57, S59, S68 (with even some appearances on routes like the S58), expect their successors to also use them, and some more. Those buses are gonna have to be used somewhere if the routes they're currently used on get cut. The lack of communication from SCT's part should be evident that it wasn't gonna happen. They don't have anything up besides the map, which shows many different route paths / deviations than what was on their final plan.
  13. This also impacted the earlier, but service has since resumed there. Part Suspended service is suspended between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and 111 St in both directions. Limited service between Broadway Junction and 111 St. What's Happening? We're addressing a switch problem near Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Additional Service Changes Jamaica-bound trains will end at Broadway Junction, Crescent St or 111 St and turn back to provide Broad St-bound service. Alternatives LIRR is cross-honoring MetroCard holders between Jamaica and Penn Station/Grand Central Madison. Between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Cypress Hills, take Q56 buses. Between Crescent St and Kosciuszko St, take Q24 buses. Posted: 09/19/2023 08:05 AM
  14. https://www.cttransit.com/news/proposed-cttransit-service-changes-fall-2023 CT Transit will be making changes to bus routes on November 5th, 2023. Public timetables have been out, and the comment period ended a little over an hour and a half ago (end of day on 9/15). While many changes include service expansions, there are various route changes and additions. Some of the notable changes include the following: 41 - Service will be reduced throughout the day on Weekdays and Saturdays. 470 - Service will be enhanced to operate up to midnight on Weekdays only (no Saturday or Sunday service...yet at least). 501 - Service south of New Britain City Line will be discontinued on most trip, service to Meridan completely eliminated (partially replaced by 511). 502 - Service in Bristol will be added to serve Amazon, ESPN, and other locations. 512 - Service will be split into three routes: 511 - New Britain to Meridan Transit Center via CT-15 512 - New Britain to Berlin Price Chopper Plaza via Berlin Tpke 513 - New Britain to Cromwell via 532 - New route provided service to Southington, will operate to/from Plainville with timed transfer to the 102.
  15. These are the routes and service levels of what's left below, more or less. They should actually put out timetables even if just online, using the website sucks. Weekdays 9 (New City to PABT): 6 AM trips from New City (4 to PABT, 2 to GWB) & 4 PM trips to New City (2 from PABT, 2 from GWB) 11 (New City to PABT): 2 AM and 2 PM trips each way 20 (Nanuet to PABT): 6 AM trips, 5 PM trips 45 (Mount Ivy to PABT): 8 AM trips (3 from Spring Valley) & 1 PM trip from Spring Valley to PABT, 12 PM trips from PABT to New City 47/49 (New City to PABT): 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM from to PABT, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM to New City Saturdays 11X (Spring Valley to PABT): 7 AM - 9 PM to PABT, 8:30 AM - 10:30 PM (Every 120 minutes) I think Rockland Coaches, with its paltry levels of service and whatnot, will actually hold on probably for a while. Reason being that they've been consolidating operations to Paramus with relative ease here. Way I see it, basically anything they can't take with them to Paramus is a goner.
  16. If the suspension wasn't enough: Part Suspended No service between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Hunters Point Av in both directions until at least 8:25pm. We are requesting emergency teams to respond to someone who was struck by a train at Times Sq-42 St. 34 St-Hudson Yards-bound trains will end at Queensboro Plaza, Hunters Point Av or Grand Central-42 St. Listen to announcements to hear how your train will operate. For service to/from Manhattan, consider trains, or Q32 and Q60 buses. 19. Not for the purposes of having a route via the Throgs Neck Bridge, but what I would potentially consider is having the Q78 operate to/from Westchester Square via Tremont Ave. This would link NE Queens with the medical facilities to the north, whole also providing direct service and connections between SE Queens and the West & NE Bronx (via the Bx8, Bx31). It would make it easier overall to get to/from the Bronx from eastern Queens (primarily SE Queens). In turn, it would also help alleviate some of the burden of the Q44 and Q27/proposed Q26 routes. In The Bronx I would have the Q78 run limited-stop similar to the current Q35. So there would be stops at Tremont & Bruckner, Tremont & Randall, and perhaps one at Lawton Avenue just before getting on the Throgs Neck Bridge. The one concern would probably route length, despite that it doesn't hit as much traffic and as many choke points as some of the other routes of similar length. In that case maybe you could swap the Q77 and Q78 terminals (so the Q78 ends at Merrick, and the Q77 near JFK).
  20. Something that was not mentioned is that the n15 on Saturdays will operate every 20 minutes along the entire route. Currently, service runs every 15 minutes south of Hempstead and every 30 minutes north of it. So a service cut south of Hempstead.
  21. CENTRO announced that starting September 5th, the 84/184 routes will now operate to Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Certain parts of the route in Mattydale and North Syracuse will be eliminated in order to straighten the route and not require extra buses. This new route will be in effective as a 6-month trial, and may be made permanent in Spring 2024. Press Release Route 84 Flyer 84/184 Timetable Effective 9/5 The last route to operate to Hancock Airport was the 250/350, discontinued in May 2009 due to budget cuts resulting from the recession. Buses only ran a handful of trips, during certain odd hours. The proposed service would be more frequent than what it previously was, but still lacking. Since the 84 only has 3 Saturday trips in each direction and no Sunday service, weekend service almost doesn't exist.
  22. Part Suspended No service between 137 St and Times Sq-42 St. service is suspended. Some southbound trains will run on the line from 149 St to Nevins St. Emergency teams are responding to a person who was struck by a train at ‌79 St‌. As an alternative for service between 137 St-City College and Times Sq-42 St, consider nearby trains. Posted: 08/20/2023 01:44 AM --------------------------------------------------- Using 33rd Street as a terminal is interesting. Part Suspended There is no train service between 33 St-Rawson St and 74 St-Broadway while we address a mechanical problem on a train at 52 St. The last stop on Flushing-bound trains is 33 St-Rawson St, where they will turn for 34 St-bound service. The last stop on 34 St-bound trains is 74 St-Broadway, where they will turn for Flushing-bound service. As an alternative between Manhattan and Queens, consider trains. As an alternative between 33 St-Rawson St and 74 St-Broadway, consider Q32 or Q60 buses. Emergency teams are responding to a person who was struck by a train at 86 St and a person who was struck by a train at 103 St. Northbound trains will end at 59 St on the upper level. Southbound trains will end at 149 St-Grand Concourse. Southbound trains will end at 3 Av-138 St. As an alternative between 59 St and 125 St take an M101, M102, or M103 bus. As an alternative between the Bronx and Manhattan: train service: Take M125 buses between 3 Av-138 St and stations along 125th St in Manhattan. train service: Take Bx19 buses between =149 St-Grand Concourse and stations along 145th St in Manhattan. 24. I think that the fact that a chunk of their fleet is now minibuses, it takes away from a lot of excitement / interest in the new network.
