I really hate it when people compare European transit to North American transit. Especially in regards to how vehicles look on the outside.

  New York City is one of the few places here in the US where owning three cars isn't the #1 priority and where everyone takes advantage of our transit system

  bill: transit is more accepted in Europe because most of their countries are the size of some of our states. We have planes to take us coast to coast. They don't need that and invest in high speed rail. I'm sure now with gas prices staying over $3, there will be a greater push for more mass transit especially b/w cities.
