    My Woodlawn bound train today kept announcing itself as a "Manhattan bound local train" while it was running in the Bronx. I'm not surprised that the MTA keeps making these trivial mistakes, but can't they at least ask someone to listen to these faulty announcements BEFORE they are played out loud in service?...

    IIRC it's pretty much because of the 65th Street Transverse and because they don't want to run the risk of having the hybrids scratch their batteries inside the tunnels there.

    Since the MTA dropped the ball with the M to 96th Street and the 4 to East 180th Street, I have to wonder what sort of shenanigans are gonna be pulled for the to 86th Street... Also, I just have to ask. Since the won't have access to Unionport over the weekend, is there a chance that we could see some R142As or even some R62As on the line?

    The best (or at least the easiest) place to get a photo of the subway and the Statue of Liberty would be at the front of the uptown platform of Smith - 9th Streets on the and lines. IIRC I don't really think there's another place to get that kind of shot.
