  1. I see you point, but my info was unanimous between 3 diffrent drivers which makes it more unlikely for them to just be unaware. I remember before October started the last time it was confirmed Nov 15, I was also told that it would be likely to change with how long they were taking to set everything up. Which actually makes sense because about a week later a 4th B/O told me it was Nov 29th. What you're saying could be right, but in this case I'm not sure how likely
  2. I live ON MAIN ST so I talk to these operators on a daily basis and I had 3 operators confirm to me it was on the 15in late September early October, but they also told me it was likely that it would get pushed back. later around mid late October it was confirmed it got pushed back. Stuff getting pushed back is very common from the MTA you should know that
  3. It was NOV 15th but then got pushed back to NOV 29th mainly because of bus stop locations and machine placing Main and 39th just finally got their machine today so i'm not surprised it was pushed back either BTW the set up at main and 39th ave is very interesting it double the normal machines with each facing back to back.
  4. speaking about the Q44 many of the local sign have been taken out additionally according to the transit app and Bus time the Q44 LTD no longer stop at Northern blvd. However it is only southbound atm.
  5. It seems these surveys are given out at random or based on your previous surveys where they ask you what services you ride.
  6. I saw a XN40 on the N20 going up the hill on Kissena by the library and an XD40 on the Q20 right below on Main st. facing the other direction could been a perfect shot if I was fast enough
  7. If anything happens and the MTA changes the manufacturer, chances are it might go to Alstom as the MTA would probably like to save a bigger order (R211) for a better company like Kawasaki. Because from what it looks like the R179 order may not be complete by the time the first R211 rolls out.
  8. It was email to me cause I signed up for the MTA survey program I removed the link cause i believe its a personal link sorry
  9. MTA put out a survey for future Express buses, some of the question especially the outlet question and legroom question made me really happy Speaking about express buses, I have a story to tell but my phones dead right now so I never got a chance to upload pics
  10. Main st @ flushing by the library huge car accident right now main St buses re routed on kissena. although it hasn't been confirmed yet, I have a theory of why it happened. When the created the new lanes, between Kissena and 41st rd (where the Q58 picks up) there are only two southbound lanes a bus lane and a travel lane. Since the bus lanes aren't in effect yet people still park on the curb blocking the bus lane. So that means there is only one open lane available. In that area there is usually a truck or a van double parked, if that was the case, that would mean that all southbound lanes are blocked and traffic would have to go the wrong way to go around. I bet a car went on the wrong side of the road as another car came in the other direction and struck it. Long story short they need to update the street signs now you can have the old street set up with the new markings and not expect problems. Especially with all the twist and turns the lanes do in that area.
  11. always elder first huh its k tho cause it my nearest 44 stop
  12. I have never had this problem on a local bus, either the bus driver puts it down or some impatient passenger as the bus driver helps the disabled passenger off but it got me thinking has anyone every seen the wheel chair lift being used on an express bus?
  13. One thing I'm mad about is that they didn't put the QM20 re-route in queens
  14. but those charge a lot more like I said lets use LGA for example because it still lacks rail service. Taxis automatically charge a flat rate of something like $45 These airport shuttles charge usually around $15-$20 per person The MTA Express buses charge $6.50 An Express route to LGA would be shorter than most express routes in the city There would be less hassle with luggage because they have compartments overhead and it can use LGA to store their buses. They accept metrocards which a lot of tourist already will have to get in the future if they don't choose single ride tickets I honestly think it can do better than many of the other Express bus routes that currently to Queens if the service is marketed heavily in the Airport
  15. Do you think tourist would use an Express bus directly between the Airports and Manhattan if the MTA marketed it heavily? cause $6.50 is a lot cheaper than the other direct options to the city
  16. I thought they did, the payment for student fares should be done by the DOE not the MTA and I'm pretty sure it that way though not 100% sure. how? Detours paths don't show up on bus time. This is a new route with a new stop as well
  17. anyway putting that aside for a moment THANK GOODNESS I don't know when this happened, but I'm glad it did
  18. what ever happened to that bus that was supposed to go from the bronx to queens via the tri-boro
  19. Why are CAPS locks warrant a warning? BTW I can't the edit option has been disabled
  20. Holy CRAP the lack of educated people about students using mass transit is ridiculous. SUBURBAN SCHOOLS DON NOT HAVE LESS PEOPLE IN THEM, SOME OF THE LARGEST HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE CITY ARE IN SUBURBAN AREAS, AND THEY HAVE A LOT OF KIDS FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE CITY RIDING THEM. SCHOOL TRIPPERS ARE FOR EVERYONE AND MANY COMMUTERS BENEFIT OVER THE EXTRA BUS SERVICE BECAUSE NOT ALL SCHOOL TRIPPER RUN AT FULL CAPACITY. RARELY DO YOU SEE KID IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS GET METROCARDS BECAUSE THE DOE WOULD RATHER PAY FOR SCHOOL BUSES FOR THEIR SAFETY. ADDITIONALLY FOR OTHER SCHOOLS MIDDLE/HIGH THEY ARE UNDERFUNDED. IF HAVE STUDENTS ON MASS TRANSIT IS REALLY A PROBLEM, THEN YOU HAVE TO GET THE CITY TO GIVE THEM BACK ALL THEIR FULL OPERATING BUDGET AND MORE FOR SCHOOL BUSES. SINCE THAT'S NOT HAPPENING ANY TIME SOON THEY RIDE THE BUS. ALSO IN PLACE LIKE QUEENS STUDENTS MAKE UP A HUGE CHUNK OF RIDERSHIP. INFACT THEY HAVE TWO DIFFERENT SCHEDULE FOR MOST ROUTES IN QUEENS ONE FOR WHEN SCHOOLS IN SESSIONS AND ONE WHEN IT'S OUT OF SESSION. TO SOME THE PROBLEM IS ROWDY AND RUDE KIDS. WHICH IS JUST A SMALL HANDFUL OF KIDS COMPARED TO THE REST WHICH AREN'T. STOP STEREOTYPING A WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE BECAUSE OF A SMALL HAND FULL OF BAD APPLES. SOME COPS SHOOT UNARMED CIVILIANS DO WE NOW EXPECT THAT FROM POLICE EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD NO. WHEN RIDING THE Q20 WHICH IS A LINE OF STUDENTS ELDERLY AND PEOPLE WHO CAN'T WAIT FOR A Q44, THE MAJORITY OF PROBLEMS COME FROM THE ELDERLY AND Q44 RIDERS. THEY ARE A LOT OF TIMES THEY DON'T PAY THEIR FARE, BE RUDE, OR/AND COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING. MOST OF THE STUDENT WHO DO RIDE THAT BUS ARE MUSH MORE RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THE DRIVER THAN THE ADULTS. AND THIS ISN'T JUST ON TRANSIT. THERE ARE MORE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY ADULTS ON THE TRAIN THEN BY KIDS. SO STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT A FEW KIDS WHO ARE TOO LOUD WHEN YOU'RE STANDING NEXT YO GUY WITH A KNIFE THAT'S ABOUT TO ROB YOU. AS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE TALKING ABOUT STUDENT METROCARD THAT HAVEN'T BEEN A STUDENT OR HAVE KIDS WHO RELY ON MASS TRANSIT, YOUR OPINION IS IRRELEVANT. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PROBLEMS YOU HAVE DECIDE NOT TO SEE BECAUSE OF ONE SCREAMING KID. WHICH ISN'T EVEN A MASS TRANSIT ISSUE THAT'S A F*****G DISCIPLINE ISSUE. Okay now that I'm done with my rant. please stop with the express buses, it's premium service for a reason. I understand your talk about efficiency, however the in places like SI the MTA hardly cares whats put on their local buses. For efficiency the MTA uses old MCI's for school trippers before they are sent to Manhattan for rush hour service. Also that's one of the very few times they can have uses used for express service on local service with affect the express route, cause school trippers happen right before rush hour. Other than that I can't see any use for express buses being put on local routes because at all other times of the day the MTA either has enough buses for their local routes or the express buses are being used for rush hour service in which they can't help with local service. Also people pay more than double. They deserve better than scratched up loud XD60's. Furthermore sitting on hard plastic seat for more than an hour is uncomfortable. additionally there is the problem with lights. Most express buses have theirs off during the express portion, however passenger have access to reading lights if they so choose. Local buses don't have that ability however. Although having express buses on local routes can increase efficiency there are very few ways to implement that with current demands
  21. The fact you mentioned that I totally agree. Im a highschool student and I occasionally fan on express buses (New ones only though) I know it expensive, but I also know what I'm paying for that why instead of complaining/or not using it all together, I maximize my express bus usage per ride. Meaning I transfer from one to another. Going from QM2 by Flushing to the X17 to SI mall, its worth paying $6.50 I also love eating at Potatopia
