  1. It's one of the busiest lines in the system, newer trains also mean less breakdowns as well.
  2. Exactly what I was saying in my head, wonder who speculated that, cant find any info online of a third set, maybe im dumb but now im wondering.
  3. Thanks for promising to keep these things to a minimum, your opinion is your opinion and no one should mocked for that reason, whether or not this really is your final thoughts on the topic, I do respect it and it's well supported, but since your theory has been stated and supported on this forum so many times, the best thing i'll say is we have to wait and see what happens since nothing is final!! Which im sure you're already aware of, hopefully.
  4. As far as im aware, the station is part of the Capital Plan as it's getting ADA improvements and upgrades, not sure if the whole station will be remodeled
  5. Correct me if I miss something, but almost all of us in this thread (as far as im aware who lives in NYC) never said we are better than everyone else, and those that do probably don't base that opinion over a bus system.
  6. This thread has gone off topic too much lately, so let's put an end to it in this and the next few posts! 1. My thoughts: Im not having any preference over any transit worker, if a transit member that's not Hammers or Fan Railer notifies us on a topic, it's still a well supported statement in which we'll have to wait and see. 2. @Coney Island Av I understand why your opinions are challenged and they deserve to be settled professionally, but if youre being mocked, it's best to settle it personally or through PM, not argue an active forum. The website also has an ignore function that you can use, and even walking away is much better than complaining which will just get you the same mockers again. 3.No this is not Canarsie 2.0, it only becomes Canarsie 2.0 when we go against each other in these threads. 4. I realized my last post may have brought an off topic discussion with it, and i'll say im a little sorry, my only goal was to express my opinion to... well, an opinionated thread that was slowly falling apart, with that being said, can we actually talk about 179's from this point on.
  7. This thread has kinda been run to the ground, at this point, it's just full of fleet predictions, occasional news and (mostly) the extensive fleet predictions that come right from it. My opinion is: If there's nothing to add on to the thread but pure speculation on where the trains will go, it's best to just not post at all. R179's have already started service and it's wise to wait as other post's mentioned, Im not saying this thread should end but it should chill the h*ll out when it comes to fleet assignments, one topic ( in this case, pure predictions) aren't supposed to clutter a thread, nor is mocking/ making fun of others for personal/disagreement reasons (which i've also seen on this thread).
  8. Guess it depends on where he lived in NYC and how lucky he got to not get shook, but same. With the exception of stabbings, deaths and births, i've seen stuff like that as well, i'll add on by saying I've also seen vomiting sick passengers (many reluctant to leave the bus even when we passed hospitals), aggressive panhandlers, people who play loud curse music at the back and front of the bus, performers, drunk people (one was so close to putting the bus outta service), people fighting for seats, the one smoker the B/O didn't realize until passengers were complaining, the one person on the bus who kept leaning on the back door and hitting stop request, stopping the bus at high speeds for no reason, a fight that broke out over the white line at the front of the bus, etc. A hostile fight on a bus happens every other week for me
  9. agreed, it's the MTA so changes happen anyways Off topic, but why?
  10. Good point, foamers isn't the best way to put it. Still, as everyone (including you) hopefully knows, it's very dangerous to be exploring or wasting your life on the subway compared to exploring other areas, the electrified rails and train's that can potentially hit you while you go to the abandoned area. They could be urban explorers, foamers or drug addicts, it's still dumb and will probably land them in prison. As for NYC photographers, not much different but usually their very careful and understand all the risks prior to their actions, a gang of teens with cameras in their hand's is not the same thing (especially since they weren't careful, jumped off the platform edge and barely made it back up, instead of going to the end of the platform for instance). Then again we don't know who they were, so unless there's any more info, it's hard to conclude.
  11. Agreed, there's a fine line between adventurous foamers and adventurous foamers that do criminal activity, and doing stuff like that definitely crosses the line. I've also seen stuff like that at Broad channel station, not sure why, but it's super sad.
  12. Staten Island won't take up much of the R211 fleet (if those numbers turn out to be even true), only 60-80 cars are needed.
  13. Maybe for short term cost reasons? Maybe they're too tired to fix it? Eh, im not sure Agreed, the needs better cars. Sadly, it's not likely many R179's are going to the as it'll come down to the 's needs first and foremost (and that's putting them on other lines), but I do hope at least more newer trains show up on the (especially with the Canarsie shutdown and increased ridership).
  14. Gotta blame the R44's/46's, they've been on the for gosh knows how long and I've seen it for years
  15. Older fleets are more understandable for the , the has the oldest fleet's since it's ridership (especially in the Rockaway's) and station dwell times are very low and also since the Queens segment is above ground. The on the other hand totally does need NTT, it's ridership is increasing, and it's working with the R160's, but due to failed proposals to extend it's trains and potential NTT requirements for the , the R46's (and maybe R68's?) are likely to become more prevalent on the .
  16. This dips into the R211 thread but certainly agreed, retiring all 75 ft cars would be better now than starting another car order that may not be delivered for even more years due to testing on an entirely new fleet, and imagine all the maintenance costs and line swaps that might go onto R68's during the entire process. The idea sure is elaborate and maybe expensive today but if done right, this could be a serious win for the B division.
  17. Long routes can work like the Q53 +sbs, but a good portion of that route is crossing Jamaica Bay at nearly freeway speeds. The Downtown Brooklyn to Jamaica proposal would be much more different and might not work. +sbs routes need to be quick
  18. Better question, will those R32's be moved? Maybe
  19. That's sounds rare, isn't the all R46's? What line did it come from?
  20. Also, Service Change Posted: 01/04/2018 12:01PM Southbound trains are stopping along the Rockaway Park shuttle line between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park-116 St. There is limited southbound train service between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway. These service changes are because of switch problems at Broad Channel. As an alternative customers may take the Q22 bus running between Beach 67 St and Rockaway Park-116 St or the Q52 orQ53-SBS buses running between Rockaway Blvd and Rockaway Park Beach 116 St.
  21. Updates should be on MTA social media and on their website, I haven't seen any news reports yet but any changes to service could be based off of http://web.mta.info/coldWeather/
  22. Updates should be on MTA social media and on their website, I haven't seen any news reports yet but any changes to service could be based off of http://web.mta.info/coldWeather/ Im not too aware yet of the specific changes but hopefully someone else on the forum might know.
  23. Just wait when the R211's start getting delivered and the foamers go crazy over the death of the R32's
