  1. To me, it doesn’t make sense for the 49 to not go to KBCC. The 68 could have a split route to it but I think they’re trying hard to not have split routes anymore. Could have a B68 and a 68c.
  2. Not sure if this is the right threat to ask, but on the general page of MTA.info it says you should have at least a CDL permit to apply. On the paper of the exam it says you need at least a permit with a passenger endorsement. My question is does the MTA help you get your CDL license if you have a permit?
  3. When the Jamaica bus depot is rebuilt, is there any possibility that the Q44 will be relocated there since it would be able to handle artics?
  4. Is it safe to assume they'll roll this out by summer?
  5. I agree, there should be something to extend the second avenue subway to the Bronx. All of the stuff the city got away with the ELs back in the 40s and 50s should have been replaced or been looking to be replaced.
  6. That’s how most of the subway stations were built. I don’t know we overbuild now?
  7. Read my comment below. So, I agree with you. I used to think that removal of bus stops would be beneficial, I do think so in a big way it does, but it depends if that route is supplemented with a local route. Look at some of these routes I can't imagine if someone is elderly or disabled and would have to travel farther to get to a bus stop. I also think if you're someone who lives in a transit desert it would push you to drive more. I think removal of bus stop works if there are way too many stops close to each other. For example a bus stop that is on one block and the next block has another stop, that could be removed.
  8. Was going to post this in one of the redesign threads but I figured this would be a better one. But one of the arguments to bus modernization is that bus stops should be spaced out more but in my opinion looking at these new bus redesigns less bus stops would force more people to not take the bus. I could personally see rush routes and limited routes having spaced out stops but to me there should be a local route to supplement those two like the traditional limiteds and SBS.
  9. If anything the B2 should be kept as a rush hour route or part time. That makes more sense than eliminating it and putting the B100 on Avenue R all the way through to Midwood.
  10. That is not going to happen and a rush hour route only is going to hurt this area, this idea really needs to die out.
  11. Thanks for clarifying, because I thought 12 years was too short but never took into account the wear and tear buses went through. But why does the MTA make orders for buses to be replaced when the orders will be completed and its time to replaced the buses they just purchased since the orders take long?
  12. As someone who lives in the area, the Bergen Beach branch is usually full of the people who live in this area until it hits the junction. It will often filter in passengers along flatbush all the way to downtown brooklyn and vise versa. The issue arise when there aren't as many Bergen Beach branch buses as there are Kings Plaza buses on the 41 and when it gets to the junction in the evening rush its crowded. So, its not much of an issue going northbound i.e to downtown BK, its the issue for when its coming back in the evening which isn't much reliable. I usually take it often and over the years it has gotten better but they do often short turn the bergen buses at prospect park. What the B40 does to right to me is that for one, it separates the branches entirely by number, the times people who wanted to go to KP got on the wrong bus is funny. And second, its a rush route i.e a limited. What I think it does wrong is it being cut back from downtown BK, but we have to keep in mind that the B41 is being planned to become an SBS in future, so this will really be a conduit avenue since there will be a local here along with an SBS that will go downtown, along with transfer connections to the and the trains that go in the same direction. I think the B40 rush should probably go to at least Grand Army Plaza or the Brooklyn Museum, but it does seem to make sense to end it at prospect park.
  13. I see, so its cheaper to retire buses early to keep parts to main the current existing fleet.
  14. Does anyone think the MTA retiring buses after 12 years is very short and probably more expensive in the long run? I don't really know the logistics and even the financial situation of transit agencies fully enough but just seeing how they are retiring buses that were delivered a little over a decade ago while we still have fully functioning train cars that are 20-50 years old just doesn't make sense to me.
  15. I don’t think all were bad on my side of BK. I think the B40 is a good idea for people in the Bergen Beach side, but it would be great if it went downtown. Then you have the B5 which I feel is just an overlap of the B6. I think if they’re gonna have the B5 go to the gateway it should be the B6 ltd and have the local terminate at Rockaway parkway.
  16. Has there been any updates on the Brooklyn design yet?
  17. I sort of wish they kept the overnight subway buses during the lockdowns. I remember back before the ended them they had one going from 9th avenue in manhattan all the way to Midwood Brooklyn. It was convenient for those who didn’t want to walk over to the 7th avenue line to catch the 2 train late at night.
  18. I'm assuming the redesign for BK will be finalized by 2025 then since this order probably will work within that time frame.
  19. What routes and depots will those be expected to debut at? Huge guess is MJQ?
  20. B82 sbs may get artics in future as ENY depot was redone to handle them.
  21. B15 is planning to no longer be going to JFK as it will be replaced by the B55 sbs in future so I would figure they would use the artics from Gleason and the B15 will just be cut back to only operate in brooklyn.
  22. What happened to the Q51? Wasn't there supposed to be a sbs going to gateway mall?
  23. I would like to add that the B15 needs to be kept going to JFK. Queens have multiple routes going to LGA and JFK so why not Brooklyn? Having the B55 being the only route to JFK would be a huge taking. But also what about the workers who live in upper parts of the borough? Have both the B15 and the B55 to JFK.
  24. The B2 needs to be used as a rush hour route while the B100 should be the full time route still on Quentin Rd because Madison high school is right there. I'm not sure why they want to move it. I could see the B100 going straight through Quentin to the station to avoid congestion on kings hwy. Better yet I could also see a route going from kings hwy sta to far rockaway.
