  1. Most people don’t travel as much during snowstorms. So I’d assume they would be able to manage a bit. Besides the Bronx is artic land and they managed with artics for years.
  2. You can't tell some of these people that on here. To them it has to be their way or the highway. The MTA is a public agency and it has to take the public to make sure the MTA delivers as good as they are supposed to. We as new yorkers take our public transit for granted and its quite sad. Out of all the places in the U.S. we have one of the best, is it perfect? no but its much better than in other places. From the look of the map there is a whole new system that NYC hasn't had before. I'm sure if the communities put their voices where its heard they will work to make it better, look what happened with the Bronx redesign with Co-op city. The community lost their mind and they put those buses back on the map for that area.
  3. I’m just generalizing here but it seems like most of peopel have issue with the headway’s mostly. I think in a way since these routes are basically done from scratch there’s no telling how much will people ride the routes at first so it would be kind of throwing something into a blender. Plus some of these routes serve different types of service patters. So maybe a traditional route would need like say a 10 minute headway but on these newer routes they would need maybe 15 because of how quicker it’s gonna be. That’s just my take on it.
  4. I think that’s true. The numbering is quite confusing.
  5. I can’t speak on queens too much as I don’t live there, but bring how queens had overlapping buses because they had the most private and public buses I could really see them condensing the system and or starting a new. i think the headway’s or wait times are a bit ehh.
  6. I think it’s important to look at these bus routes in the color codes to the type of service they are. It seems like the colors indicate services that are local, a limited variant, a non stop end to the subway, and an sbs form of route. I feel like everyone is looking at these routes like a traditional bus map but it seems like Queens is quite an experiment with service.
  7. Surprised they cut the Q53. I wonder why though? Was it not getting its service it needed from that portion of Far Rockaway? Also I see they are straightening out the Q58 with its routing. I wonder where is the B15 going to go now since its being replaced by the Q5?
  8. Thing that pisses me off about this sub forum is that how pretentious some people are on here. They feel like they know what’s best for everyone here because they fan ride buses. You don’t know how many times up times someone on here proposes something everyone hypes it up and when the MTA does something akin to that in real life everyone loses their shit. they don’t care about what’s being done, only who is delivering it.
  9. Probably cause it’s the holiday season, low passenger service.
  10. FB has now over 60 artics. So does this mean the B46 sbs will be going artic full time?
  11. I didn't know i had such amazing powers!!! lol. People do still work regular hours on those days. They should adjusted routes to run on a different time than to not have them run at all to reflect those who are still here for the holidays.
  12. I think the MTA should think about adjusting schedules during the holidays. When school is out and some people are on vacation buses are running over schedule because it was supposed to reflect normal passenger service. I think during when school is out schedules should be adjusted until after the new year.
  13. Hard to believe all of these are now in local service.
  14. Siri is very, very, very different from what the mta has. On top you’re talking about Apple vs a transit company. It’s like comparing apples to oranges.
  15. But that most likely have to do with his management and consequences he may face. He could have sat at one bus stop and then went on, sat at every stop for a minute or two, or put the bus out of service until it was time for him or her to move again. They’re not driving slow to do it just to do it.
  16. Majority of people are used to dipping their metrocards on the bus not a machine. Some people don’t read but others are in a rush. They won’t notice that the M14 is a different bus from the usual besides the color on them. It even happens on other sbs routes. Sbs buses aren’t going to always go lighting fast, it happens time to time.
  17. Some routes wait for people for their tickets, especially new sbs routes where people are still getting used to the system. It happened on the sbs routes in my area. Drivers may be told to not wait for people but if people aren’t too versed in how to use a route that is still fairly new it’s falls on the drivers to tell riders what to do, that even means waiting for them. I take the B82 sbs and even after a year of its launch drivers still wait and tell people that they have to pay at the machine for their tickets. Courtesy isn’t always a written rule.
  18. So buses are slow due to being stuck in traffic, the city decides to actually make a bus way which restrict cars on 14th street, a bus you were on is slow because it sat at a bus stop due to it being over on time. If the argument is to adjust the schedules so buses can not sit in the bus stop then I understand but if a driver is a ahead of schedule you can’t blame them for not wanting to get in trouble.
  19. Consolidate routes and rework the system to reflect a grid like one, yes, to get rid of the old private bus route history isn’t the case at all. If anything judging from the rough, rough, photo we got it seems like they’re reworking some private bus routes to cover more areas.
  20. How is that two branches of one route being split is being screwed? If some people need one branch then they’ll make a route just for they one branch.
  21. I think south west Brooklyn would see a drastic change.
