  1. Because he's the one to blame for it...
  2. The latter requires manual operation, which means we'd still be at the mercy of operators' skill levels on a regular basis.
  3. The last thing we need is to run more trains with odd numbers of cars.
  4. I can't help but wonder if at least a few trips will be shifted across Manhattan...
  5. On a different note, I would really like to see battery electric trains on the rails, especially since they can drastically expand operations while cutting our reliance on fossil fuels (and the pollution that comes with their use).
  6. If the Oyster Bay and Port Jefferson branches were to be completely electrified and double-tracked, would we have enough electric equipment to make service (or, at the very least, enough to limit diesel use on those branches to improve service east of Babylon and especially Ronkonkoma)?
  7. They doubled up on the Q35 and Q52 proposals, though I can't exactly tell what the difference is for the latter. As for the former, the second one has no stops in Brooklyn aside from the terminus. Yeah, most people who get on the Q35 are those who stay on the bus for the entire Brooklyn leg, but that's no reason to try to revert to a closed-door policy, especially with the B41 still failing to adequately meet demand. And no, they're still not listening to people who are saying that the bus is just fine on Newport Avenue.
  8. This is exactly why I compare its route up there unfavorably to the BxM7.
  9. Those are also the two stations that don't connect to Lexington Avenue (one because of the switch removal, the other because its location makes any connection of the sort impractical, to say the least).
  10. It would also help people plan their commutes. (Seriously, whose bright idea was it to have trains stop at/skip just Woodside, and why are trains skipping Bayside and Flushing? Don't even get me started on the excessive variation in Montauk Branch service, especially within electric territory.)
  11. Hence why I'm taking other aspects (the rear door) with a grain of salt...
  12. I won't pretend to know too much about whatever bases they have, but I honestly doubt much of anyone's looking to dive between points on the M12 and points on the M8. All four of those routes have their own problems. Merging any of them will only screw over everyone on the resulting routes (and with less potential for gain than the merge of the B5 and B50, to boot).
  13. I can only imagine what kind of hell triggered that...
  14. The less I think about the B6, the better. If I can, I try to get the B103.
  15. I don't think even the B41's been that bad...
  16. Perhaps it has something to do with the ridership (existing and potential). Aside from the standard fare, most of the testing for the R211Ts will obviously boil down to how well the links are constructed and how they perform with tight curves.
  17. Are you talking about the base order's R211T restriction, or are you saying all but those few R211s (including options) will have open gangways?
  18. What you're describing is something that benefits so few people (in general) that it's not worth doing. We'd be better off reviving the 1-Day Fun Pass for that.
