  1. Actually, no. What it is, is basically two-fold...... I don't want to run into any news reporters asking me questions about my "commute" when I'm out 'fanning .....The main reason though, is - Passenger befuddlement. Lucky you if you've never had to put up with it, but confused passengers (for what ever the reason) always tend to gravitate towards me with their frantic, panicky dispositions... I despise when people outwardly exude that type of energy..... You try to help these people - However, when you end up giving them an answer they don't want to hear, they start raising their voice at you & shit.... T'hell with that.... ....and now that I say that, come to think of it, that's actually another reason why I refrain from bustituting,
  2. You say no one wants to be on the bus longer than necessary, but at the same time, claim that an eastern Jamaica av. connection to the would be helpful.... Those 2 statements are rather contradictory.... Those folks (eastern Jamaica av patrons) are not going to commute on that proposed Q57, panning through the heart of the Jamaica (the neighborhood), to then put up with as much of the chokepoint that is Liberty av. just to get to Lefferts for the .... IDK of any official reason, but whatever their reasoning is, I concur with the decision to not have the Q70 serve Terminal A.... Have it do that, I'd say its efficiency significantly decreases..... The current route as it is IMO, is solid....
  3. Yeah, those Fillmore short turns been a thing; PITA if you're trying to get to Kings Plaza.... Dealt with it for the longest, growing up... I refuse to take that walk out of GP (general principle)...... While those short turns in question saves whatever amt. of money it does, I'm starting to believe they're having an increasing amt. of locals end at Fillmore to save space.... It's bad enough they cut local service for the sake of SBS service to begin with.... But at some point, I see it coming to a point where only the SBS' will run down to Kings Plaza.... As of late, every single time I've either passed by or went to Kings Plaza, the B46 lane/area's been clogged with SBS'....
  4. Definitely generational.... The neighborhood boundary vs. zip code dynamic is a very good point.... While some people tend to, I personally don't go by zip codes when referencing/referring to some neighborhood.... It obfuscates things... Prospect - Lefferts Gardens... I swear, before they combined the first renditions of the old B47 & B62 to form today's B43, I have never heard of a Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.... On the destination signage was the first time I've ever seen any type of a reference to it.... Growing up, the area around Prospect Park was considered Prospect Heights.... Now they got Prospect Heights panning no further south than Eastern Pkwy - which is funny, because Prostitute Heights & Clara-bortion.... I meant, Prospect Heights & Clara Barton high schools are both south of Eastern Pkwy - but are still advertised as being in Prospect Heights.... Speaking of boundary shifts, although they are attempting to break up East Flatbush, being perfectly honest, I don't at all like this Little Haiti & Little Caribbean crap they're trying to push..... Even the addresses on these food delivery apps are literally saying ".....Little Caribbean NY, 11203" ... I have my own conspiracy theory as to why that's being done, but that's neither here, nor there.
  5. Instead of these realtors/REA's conjuring up all these dumb ass "trendy" acronyms for neighborhoods, I'd like for Wingate (as a neighborhood/name) to come back..... AFAIC, nothing north of KCH is East Flatbush.... I've heard news reporters in the past say, so-and-so was rushed to Kings County Hospital in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.... And I'd always say to myself, it's not Crown Heights.... So do I (have my own declaration of what boundaries this neighborhood constitutes)... This neighborhood is simply not remotely as big as all these maps & other mediums have it as being... Just got through mentioning Wingate (the neighborhood) being folded into East Flatbush; which magically happened sometime in the early 2000's... Flatlands apparently has a hard northern boundary, Canarsie has a hard western boundary, and Midwood has a hard eastern boundary.... Everything in-between those aforementioned hard boundaries somehow gets lumped in as being in East Flatbush..... Amazing..... Got the got damn JUNCTION as being in East Flatbush..... Got me CTFU..... I mean, you just gotta like how some neighborhoods have hard boundaries, while others have malleable/questionable boundaries.... As for the Glenwood Houses, 100% agreed..... It's not Canarsie & it's not East Flatbush either.... Canarsie's hard western boundary is Ralph, and even if we go by the whole north-of-the-tracks definition/boundary for East Flatbush, that would eliminate East Flatbush, because those projects are clearly south of the old ROW.....
  6. At this point, I'm just waiting for the n15 north of Hempstead to get completely nerfed - especially if that part time n15 service to Mineola flops... Highly unlikely that service will be reverted (to RFM via County Seat & OCR) if it does, and I don't really see them increasing service to RFM via the normal routing (Clinton) either - esp. given that the n16, n27, and n35 still all do HTC - RFM...
  7. Now that you mention it, yes, I do remember that. Shout out to our own @Cait Sith for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw6yMl59Ipk
  8. A route covering that much of Jamaica av. has no business serving (the slow crawl that is) Liberty.... The eastern end terminal of the proposed Q57 is only one of its problems AFAIC....
  9. How many places in the subway would even benefit from that? I can think of three, CPW Express, QBL Express (after 36th St), and Lex Express. Even if we're theoretically speaking, I wouldn't put the Lex express on this list.... 59th & 86th are nothing at all to scoff at.
  10. So that's what that is... From a distance, I was trying to make out what it said, but I was too far away.... That's the biggest gripe I have with NJT's MCI's; no back-of-the-bus signage at all.
  11. I got what you were saying the first time around... I don't necessarily disagree with your supporting arguments, but I still think you're focusing too much on juxtaposing it with the Q2.... While I still favor the current Q36's routing over the proposed Q82's routing, I don't see the proposed Q82's ridership being nearly as low as you see it being. The current Q2 is more sought after than the Q110 is along Hempstead av, as it's more reliable.... It's not all that uncommon to be on a Q2 after it turns off Hempstead av. on that end of the route, for it to have 1/2 a seated load or so on it.... I'd go as far as to say the Q110 is somewhat shunned out there.... Two things that greatly hinder(ed) any potential for the Q110 to flourish is 1] how Baisley handles that route; it's unreliable as shit & 2] the fact that it turns off after serving Jamaica Center to head up toward Parsons , instead of heading towards Sutphin..... This is why the Q54 & the Q56 carries as many people as it does b/w 170th & Sutphin alone... I'd have the proposed Q57 run clear along Jamaica Av from 257th to Myrtle (well Myrtle/Hillside, since that's where the bus stop is at).... Having a Jamaica av. route run down along Liberty to Rockaway blvd is just being cheap.... If it's one change to perhaps consider for the proposed Q82 (outside of having it not use Hollis Ct. blvd) is having it go Hempstead > Springfield > Jamaica > 212th (instead of having it go Hempstead > Jamaica > 212th) so it could reach more of the residents of the area.... The biggest thing I disagree with regarding the proposed Q82 in general, is that it's a rush route.... (Part of) the real issue is that they have too many rush routes along Hillside; the Q76 should not be the only "green" route along Hillside.... See above reply.
  12. Ah, so you also grew up in the 40's... Interesting... I wonder what part of E. Flatbush @JAzumah hails from..... Anyway. growing up, I used to think East Flatbush on that end, ended at Meyer Levin itself.... Once you crossed Ralph, it always felt like its own separate neighborhood.... But yeah, I won't really trip if someone refers to that area as E. Flatbush.... Now when people start calling areas south of Av. D as being in East Flatbush, I'ma be like yeeeaahh, you goin have to go somewhere else with that noise... Lol.... You know I gotta ask you this as a fellow neighborhood patron..... The Glenwood houses, what neighborhood you got it in? East Flatbush, Canarsie, or Flatlands? Another one of those little debates that pops up. is the western border of this neighborhood (Rogers or Nostrand).... I look at the boundaries they got this neighborhood as being in on the google map & I cringe every single time.
  13. The Paerdegats isn't "officially" a neighborhood name, but you will hear locals refer to the street name themed area as such.... But yeah, it's in Canarsie... With Remsen Village, it depends who you ask whether if it's [a subsection of East Flatbush] or [it's own separate neighborhood] (I personally say the latter).... But the one thing Remsen Village is not, is a subsection of Canarsie....
  14. Oh, I get wanting to suggesting faster service along Northern... However, I don't get sending it to College Point if it's going to pan that far east, when the masses along Northern boarding EB buses past a certain point, are heading to Flushing.... It really is amazing how fast those EB Q66's fill up in Jackson Hgts. heading towards Flushing... I would understand the Corona suggestion a little more, if the redesign didn't improve service to the for those folks. Currently, the Q36 runs on 212th pl/212th st.... If they were to do away with the Q82, then you have nothing running northerly-southerly between Francis Lewis & Springfield.... The distance b/w Jamaica av & Hillside av significantly increases east of Hollis.... Doesn't necessarily have to be with the proposed Q82, but I think that coverage is necessary... Way I see it, the proposed Q82 isn't (or shouldn't) be nullified/minimized because it shares both end terminals with the Q2.... Much of nobody connects to the LIRR from either the Q53 or the Q70... Lol... They propose ending Q52's & Q53's over there along 37th rd off 75th st (which is currently an area where pull-outs park at, before starting a run on the Q33 or the Q49 or whatever), but that's still NOT going to be enough space for them - given that they're both artic routes ... To have all those artics making all those turns in the general area around 74th/Broadway is just short-sighted on their part.... I mean yeah, the masses on NB Q53's tend to tank out at 74th, but at the same time, its current terminal along 61st simply makes for a better layover spot... That 74th-Broadway-Roosevelt junction is a mess.... If it's anything that should end at, or around Moore Terminal more than the other, it's the Q70 over the Q53... The Q70 sees a smaller percentage of its total passengers boarding at 61st than that of the Q53.... Not to mention that it (Q70) already has a spot inside Moore Terminal.... Coming from someone that thinks the Q52 shouldn't even exist (I have enough mini-rants on this forum regarding that), I think it's disgusting the way the MTA continues to try to force-feed the Q52 down riders' throats... That much was blatantly evident when they originally suggested axing the Q53 in the first draft - full knowing subway service west of the Hammels Wye is utter shit, compared to that of subway service east of the wye.... On the remix map, they have buses ending on 37th rd. between 75thst. & 76th st.... But I still don't see that being enough space for both routes; buses will end up bunching, especially given how traffic slogs along Broadway.... Being that I used to work in Woodside, there'd be times where the Q53 would arrive in threes at 61st.... You add the Q52 in the mix, you run the risk of consistently having buses arrive in 3's... That area will not be able to handle that... Residents will start complaining about increased congestion (mainly along Roosevelt) & they'd have a valid gripe too.
  15. Never said I agreed with it.... However, I don't see them doing away with that particular proposal... Two different things.
  16. Heh... 2 of the 4 routes I'm familiar enough with, would remain as is (#4, #21).... Of the 2 routes that won't... lol.... I agree with both changes, for different reasons... One of the routes would lose a nice little highway stretch, to be made more direct, to be extended to make more use out of the thing... I Lol'd at the beginning because this is something I've always thought should happen to the route.... I only rode the thing about 5 times or so, so it's something to be said that an actual proposal of sorts is set to come to fruition... The other of the two routes simply makes sense from a logistical standpoint.... I've always thought this route should've been split.... Should be relatively easy to figure out which of the 2 routes I'm talking about
  17. Yeah, highly likely their proposed Q54 will stick, because they have it making less stops (which is the one of the major sticking points of the entire redesign).... I'd say something like this in its entirety would defeat the purpose of being a rush route.... Breaking it down, I can't fathom anyone in College Point sacrificing the current taking of buses (Q25, Q65) to Flushing for the , to opt to take a bus directly from College Point to Queens Plaza..... As for Corona, that neighborhood is actually getting improved access to the with this redesign.... I mean, while there are bus routes from points south (of Northern) that connect to Northern, I don't necessarily think that another layer of service along that much of Northern Blvd. a] is really needed, and b] should even descend down to Corona.... I agree that *something* should still run b/w Roosevelt Island & Queens Plaza... However, I don't think it should be a route running out to either Corona or College Point. Those are my thoughts.
  18. To sum up what I said in a relatively recent post about that alteration, it makes the route more useful to actual residents of Remsen Village (which hardly anyone makes a reference to these days anymore).... I always thought it was a waste of time to have the route due EB parallel parts of the B17, B35 & the B15 b/w [Remsen/Av. B] & [Hegeman/Rockaway av]..... The current WB route basically says f*** you to Remsen Village residents..... So yeah, I see the proposed B8 there as a positive.
  19. Rather than pull a Yuki Endo ("FamousNYlover" on this forum) & list a crapton of routes, I'll put it to you this way.... When I go on these fantrips, I make it a habit to ride the full route.... earlier today alone, using the B46 as a conduit to get to Kings Plaza, I walked to Mill Basin to do the full B100, to then double back on the B31, then took the full B2, to do the full B9, then walked to 77th/narrows to do the full B4.... was going to do the full B44 SBS (and a couple other routes on a whim), but I had to cut the trip short... GBT, Norwalk, and Milford. But yeah, most times I've taken it, it was a GBT bus.... Twice though, it was a Norwalk Transit bus.... Never seen one operate on a Milford transit bus.
  20. What I’m guessing is… Start at Westchester square, then travel down Westchester ave onto cross Bronx and down throgs, onto 26th and Bell, then hit northern? For clarity purposes, when I say "draw" (in this case), I'm not referring to how a route of sorts would be routed... I'm referring to what would lure enough potential passengers to a route of sorts - especially to justify its existence.... I don't overly concern myself with some route's inaugural usage... I've long conveyed the sentiment on these parts that you should never judge how un/popular some bus route typically is, just based off one solitary trip... I'm more interested in noting the pace (or stagnancy) of some new route's growth over the course of years (case in point, the current {and apparently, soon to be defunct} B32 & B84)...
  21. A passenger can't sit or stand on a bus from a particular trip that never showed up... Speaking of "basic logic". You're not refuting my sentiment by conveying what result would yield due to a prior uncovered trip on some subsequent trip... It tells me nothing about the uncovered trip itself.... Nothing.
  22. I'm not for any of those 3 suggestions.... The Sheepshead-Rockaways suggestion I've already opined on on here about in years past & quite honestly, I don't care to speak on it any further.... Having the proposed Q78 run up to Westchester Sq. I simply wouldn't bother with; that's a route I'd keep within Queens (although @BM5 via Woodhaven didn't mention this, I see slightly more Bronxites being drawn to it to use it as a conduit to get to JFK, than (more) Queens patrons using it to get to those medical facilities just north of Westchester Sq - Neither of which I see as being high, regardless).... As for a Bronx - Great Neck route, I honestly don't know what the draw is even supposed to be, for either side of the equation.... AFAIC, being that they're taking away the Q8 from Gateway Mall (which the current route hardly brings folks along/around the 101st av corridor, etc. to the mall), they're using this proposed Q51 to try to bring a completely different set of Queens patrons to the mall....Well that, and connecting SE Queens patrons to the ... Nothing necessarily wrong with them wanting to do that per se, but I personally think both will be futile.... More of those folks will still gravitate towards Green Acres & that entire strip along Rockaway Blvd (5 Towns, etc)....
  23. damn, that's almost double last month's ridership (and that's not a route that sees high amt's of farebeating either).... where all them riders coming from???!? edit: alright, good, you deleted those extra posts... lol..
  24. What you're speaking of (regarding getting to/from those medical facilities) is one reason why I always thought that a part-time branch of the Q50 should run up to Westchester Sq.... To a certain extent, I have noticed ppl. w/ scrubs & what not getting off at Tremont & xferring over for Bx40's/42's..... I think they merely want to do away with the current turnaround scenario.
