  1. Suffolk Transit NEVER spoke about extending the S33 to Smith Haven Mall. The CONTRACTOR who they hired to do a study of the system in 2009 talked about extending the S33. The S58 is part of the Central Suffolk contract which was awarded to Suffolk Bus Corp. The S58, like the S40, has had it's deadhead the same since it was started, as before SBC it was operated by Coram Bus Service-Coram Line Service-CBS Lines. The S58 is operated out of the Ronkonkoma Yard on Sundays only, otherwise it's operated out of the Coram Depot.
  2. s40 deadheads from Patchouge to Bay Shore though has existed ever since Suffolk Bus Corp has had control of the route as until 1995 all SBC routes were based out of the Bay Shore yard. Not to mention the driver probably deadheads using Sunrise Highway, which probably would mean that it probably wouldn't take that long. However if for what ever reason there is a break down on the s40 in or near Patchouge they can pull a replacement bus from the Ronkonkoma Yard, which they have done in the past. Not to mention there could be possible contract problems since Sunrise Mall falls in the areas for the Western Suffolk routes, which are awarded to EBT. While there isn't a problem with the ending in Babylon, Sunrise Mall could be another matter. I did this before the n19 was cut, so it followed the s20 route but shows that for an S40 extension would need two buses added. (To Sunrise Mall) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P2fndMfcs-ynKHWslNO2VbvQmk6FYChYep_uMEvZbIc/edit?usp=sharing (To Patchouge) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16CmfDDciQACSubSLEtCkjNUtIa3e17KAFt3QzkZwFtI/edit?usp=sharing The only reason anyone wanted the S40 to be extended is because it runs every half hour, which is a pretty stupid reason to have a route extended. And again the S20 already served Babylon and Sunrise Mall, so NEVER, EVER would an extension of another route have been considered.
  3. Getting a S40 extension probably never was going to happen. It would take the terminus to far away from any SBC depot and therefore getting a replacement bus would take longer. Not to mention the possibility of hurting the reliablity of a route which is already pretty long. (As well as having to possibly add more buses than the one they are adding to the S20. You are assuming first off that there are alot, I'm not sure how much would qualify, that are transferring from one of the proposed routes on her, to the S20. Extending a route, which could cause the need for more added buses, just to give a few riders the luxury of a one seat ride does not make fiscal sense. (Remember a one seat ride would eliminate the .25 cents that would be made off the transfer.) And Suffolk Transit is known for not being in fiscal health, so they need every penny they can get.
  4. My guess would be that the sign for the S20 Sunrise Mall Loop will probably say S20 Sunrise Mall and the Babylon loop will say S20 Babylon RR. Suffolk would want the signs simple, since most of their signs are, but Suffolk has switched to a new sign package to support GPS tracking, and they are already having problems with it. One that I know of is that when drivers put in the code for 'No Passengers' or 'Not In Service' it defaults to the S110 sign. Evidence is shown in a photo from 1065's crash a few weeks ago. The sign reads S110 Via 110 Corridor. Took me a while to understand what they did, since I wasn't expecting one bus to actually looping to and from Babylon and one looping to and from Sunrise Mall, I thought they would be both looping to and from Babylon; just one going clockwise and the other counter clockwise. The probably thought it made more sense to add a bus on the route that already went to Sunrise then to extend routes which it is, I mean why extend the S40 or S29 when the S20 already runs between Sunrise Mall and Babylon RR.
  5. Famous you switched from using the 24 hour clock to the regular 12 hour clock, which confused me at first as to what time you were talking about for the n20H until I figured it out. When talking about time you should probably use one clock and not switch. (Especially since with the 24 hour clock 9:20 would mean in the AM not PM)
  6. Their probably going to take their time, especially since someone from NICE had said in Newsday that if they were to get the money the cut routes could be reinstated. If they went right out an took all the signs down it would show that the cuts would be permanent and the person lied. (Not to mention wasteful if they were telling the truth and reinstated the routes if they got the money) What they are probably doing is waiting for like a month or two or whenever they think they are sure they won't be getting any money to reinstate them or that riders forgot what they said and most likely have found other ways of getting around, Or they could just say heck with it and just leave them up. Suffolk left a route sign up even though a route didn't serve it, not sure if it was an approved route change by the county also don't know if the sign is still up since they renovated the ambulance station the sign was on. Also Suffolk put up a bus sign a few years ago for a route that doesn't serve the stop, though again it goes towards that route change mentioned earlier. So it goes to show that route signs aren't seen as important.
  7. If their Ford's then maybe they are cutaways for some type of service for Seniors in the town. Most if not all the towns here in Suffolk has some type of bus service for Seniors. The Town of Brookhaven uses Ford Cutaways, I believe from Coach and Equipment, for their program which is called Silver Jitney.
  8. Famous I don't think A) that would hold up outside of NYPD jurisdiction (IE.The five boroughs) and B) I don't think that would stop you from being arrested for a felony like impersonating a police officer or some other official. That "Get out of jail pass" as you call it is, I believe, just for minor things like tickets or things like that.
  9. Probably because people were active at the time on this thread and therefore would see it as soon as it was posted. People who want people to see something are going to post it where they think people would see it as soon as they post it, in stead of posting it somewhere where it may not bee seen for days/weeks/months/ etc, no matter if its related to the topic at hand. Though of course there is the possibility that he accidentally posted it in the wrong thread.
  10. SCT Service expansions are done due ti demand. Very few service expansions are done for connectivity. I don't see how the MTA is at fault for transportation problems that are caused because of congestion on the roads.
  11. That's incorrect. Suffolk gets less state aid then Nassau, which has been documented many times over the years. SCT is alive because of Suffolk County and Suffolk County tax payers.
  12. The lawmaker hopefully was aware that her rescue bid would have probably put off the cuts for two years. So it wouldn't have solved the problem. Not to mention it would have taken that 7.5 million which should be saved encase I don't know, taxes don't bring in enough for a surplus or some other emergency, like we have another snowmageddon like we had last yer or a worse natural disaster. Unless you can bring in money, you can't just throw money at the problem just because you have it.
  13. Suffolk would never do it, especially since the reason the NICE claimed they abandoned it was because of lack of ridership. Not to mention that Suffolk already has a route that goes to and from the same places. Only way that would happen would be if it's shown to be more beneficial to S1 riders having the route go to Sunrise Mall then having to Transfer to the S33 or any other route. It's getting really annoying hearing you always take about extending the S40. That's most likely never going to happen.
  14. So Suffolk County taxpayers should be responsible for paying for bus service that Nassau doesn't want? News for you most Suffolk Taxpayers don't even like paying for Suffolk Bus Service. Suffolk County is only responsible to the riders that ride their system, they aren't responsible for those who ride Nassau's bus system. I don't know the S20's ridership though I wouldn't be surprised if that was on the list of least used bus routes that Suffolk was talking about cutting a few months back. NICE and SCT are going to be splitting a bunch of money from the state, I forget the amount though II do recall it was a couple million. NICE also claimed that if they were to get more money that they would reverse the cuts, lets see if they hold true to their word when they get the money.
  15. I don't think it's officially Suffolk's problem as Sunrise Mall falls in Nassau County.
  16. All the buses were brought new, except the 2008 Gillig Hybrids they came as part of some state program to test hybrid buses or something like that. The only buses that Suffolk ever brought used was back when the County created the system. Suffolk doesn't have the money to replace all the high floors at once. However the Orion V and the 2000 Gilligs are of age and due for retirement. The 2005 are coming of age in two years and will most likely will be retired. Suffolk didn't have money to outright scrap the high floors when they brought low floors. The only reason they brought that many Orion VII's was because former United States Representative Tim Bishop got federal money to help out, other wise the order would have been for 55 buses. Suffolk brought from Gillig alot, at times making up nearly all of it's fleet and at other about half.

  18. Rumor has it that in 11 days the District Court stop is going to be reinstated but this time it's going to be for all Patchouge routes.
  19. Problem is the S25 isn't a high ridership route adding service wouldn't do anything except drive the debt higher. The S54 travels on Jericho Turnpike (Also Know as NYS 25, AKA in parts of Suffolk as Middle Country Road) and Veterans Memorial Highway. Both are known as having traffic get back up and for having accidents which could slow down a bus. Most likely the S54, like most buses, would get caught up in traffic during Rush Hour, Not to mention it gets caught up at the State Building in Hauppauge and probably at the shopping center it stops at in Commack, or passes between there and WWM, not to mention traffic at Walt Whitman Mall especially during the holidays.
  20. Probably done so riders could easily get to the Railroad Station. Either that or something with the District Court itself made the stop either not usable or unable to continue as a stop. I know a few years ago they moved the old Patchouge Library to the site. Interestingly the court house parking lot didn't always use to be the stop for the district court, for a long time the stop for the district court use to be on Main Street/Montauk Hwy in front of the court building.
  21. Can't transfer at the District Court anymore. The District Court is no longer a stop. All transfers are now made at the Patchouge Rail Road Station. (Not to mention that before the change the S63 and S61 could transfer at both the LIRR and District Court)
  22. The proposed S60 interline would be the driver that isn't the driver that's scheduled to drive the S69 then. Both interlines for later S61 service makes sense except for the short deadhead either to the Ferry dock or to the LIRR station, since the S61 doesn't stop at the Jefferson Plaza stop. 7A is a low ridership route, which just got switched to a Para Transit bus, so that route is probably on the verge of extinction. So I doubt there would be any idea to add service, unless there is some type of turn around. The S25 also is a low ridership route as well. Not sure if a transfer to a Para Transit bus has or will be happening though. Also EBT has a few S27's interlined with S29's so any interlines with the S25 would probably involve them reworking their driver's work schedules. Have no Idea about HART, though it's possible that they may not have the reserve fleet to add runs that can't turn into runs already scheduled.

  24. Yes. All the routes are listed by operator on the pinned roster list. I don't give the exact locations of the Depots. EBT just recently opened the West Babylon Depot, they also house school buses there. I could be wrong but I believe SCCC-Selden offers classes at night so late night service there would be a benefit. Not sure what the ridership to from there is on the S58 though.
  25. EBT moved all their Transit routes to a yard in West Babylon, near where Harran use to be, so I've been told. The S40 and S42 are run by SBC out of their Bay Shore/HQ yard. 2A, 2B, and now the S41 are the only Bay Shore routes that based out of the EBT Yard. The problem with the possibility of an 8:35 S58 bypassing SCCC is what about any students that are there that need the bus. It may be ridiculous to have the S1 end at 6:30, but thats what Suffolk can afford.
