  1. Yes, lease is up on them. They were shipped out a couple weeks ago.
  2. They fall off 18 months from the date you got the ticket. The list expires exactly 4 years from when it was established, unless it was extended. If you are colorblind and can't pass that portion of the test, they will ask you to identify the colors on a subway signal. That will be good enough to pass that portion of the vision test. Eye chart (They will ask you which line you can see farthest down and the opening in each figure) Depth perception Colorblind test Peripheral Vision All of this is done by looking into a machine except for the signal test.
  3. Arbitration ended today, so probably will have one by the end of the year. Retro pay will be awarded. TA on paper is Staten Island, those 3 depots in Queens and the depots in Brooklyn. (Excluding Spring Creek, that's MTA Bus) OA is all the depots in Manhattan and The Bronx. MTA Bus is every other depot. TA Brooklyn and OA is consolidated meaning that you can work out of all of those depots. If you transfer to SI, you are locked into working out of that boro and TA Queens, you are locked into the depot that you pick into. I can't speak for The Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn. I felt Manhattan was going to be hard but once you get used to it, it becomes easy. Staten Island goes to sleep after 10pm. Every boro except SI has artics. SI and Ulmer Park in Brooklyn has all the express buses. It's all personal preference. Brooklyn, The Bronx and Queens, you're going to be taking loads off the trains. The SI equivalent to that is the ferry. It goes on and on.
  4. ATU is without a contract right now, so we are under the provisions of the prior contract. Once a contract is signed off on, it will match the TWU hourly rate. There are 7 TA depots represented by ATU. The 4 in Staten Island and the 3 in Queens. (Casey Stengel, Jamaica and Queens Village) You can be forced to work in either SI or TA Queens from jump due to operator availability. (With the option to return to TWU land - The Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn)
  5. Talk to your union stewards when you get out of line training. They will work to accommodate you. Any days that you take off unpaid, will have to be made up on the back end of your probation. It is $23.84/hr if you are working out of an ATU depot (Staten Island and TA Queens) & $26.20/hr out of a TWU depot.
  6. It means U a probie. 😂😂 You're right. The letter doesn't really mean anything on the railroad. The conductors will just see the pass and keep it pushing. I used my 'U' pass on both without problems.
  7. Set the contributions to what works for you. Traditional 401/457 will have the money taken before taxes (and you will get taxed at withdrawal time) and Roth is the opposite. I do 5% and it comes out to about $3,500/yr. (At my pay rate)

  9. It's a blessing in disguise. Are you a TA B/O? Finish your probation first so you can at least have the option of returning to the bus, if you go to another title in the future. Also, the list is good for the 4 years so if you can wait for another 3 years, everything on your record will fall off for consideration. You're considered a promotion so they treat it as such.
  10. Several operators work here and have licenses in NJ and PA. You're fine. Just bring your own abstract when you go to processing.
  11. Bit of both. Like for the 1 train shuttle in the city, it's obvious that they're gonna use Broadway uptown. But sometimes, they have to change the routing to account for parking situations, driving conditions, turnarounds, etc. I've done the N train shuttle between Astoria and Queensboro twice and they were different routes each time.
  12. Your BSC ID is the 7 digit number that they gave you. Your pass number is the six digit one.
  13. True but unless you're going to be working the list or VR at Yukon, there is zero need for a DOT medical at TA.
  14. Yes. When the time comes, you'll go back to whatever depot has an opening for you.
  15. This pretty much. You, a part of, or your entire class can be forced to go to SI or Queens. When I started, my entire class went.
  16. 2542, 2287 and 2298 all long time loans to Castleton. EDIT: Charleston is loaning us different CTs, so they will change everyday.
  17. It's a lot of downtime because those ops are working split runs that has a lot of break time in between. Will you see that out the gate? Nah. Also, a lot of runs, you will keep your bus and have your meal break on the road. For example, you're on the Q53.. You're due to arrive at the end of the line at 7pm. Then you won't leave till 740pm. That 40 mins is your break time. The same happens with TA/OA work where you'll make a relief/be relieved on the road and you'll spend your break on the road but there are much more runs that pull in/out of the depot (in which you'll be having your meal there)
  18. Use it or lose it. You only carry your AVAs and OTO time from year to year.
